I love how people try to make the OP feel like their wants aren't valid with the lame "then get an Android" response. Plenty of people want Split Screen on an iPhone, that doesn't mean they want to make the change over to Android. It means they would like that feature on the best phone on the market. "It makes the usable space smaller" isn't even a valid argument. We all lived perfectly happy lives doing our daily routine on a 3.5 inch, 480x320 screen when the 3GS was the phone everyone had to have. I'd LOVE to be able to continue watching a video and check my twitter feed, messages, or even use it for copy/paste between 2 different windows ON AN IPHONE...not some crappy Note9 filled with bloatware that can't even get the latest updates until months after they're released. Even if that means the usable space is temporarily smaller. People who continuously post "We want dark mode" aren't met with a bunch of people telling them "then get an Android" (though i do see it sometimes, lol).

I get your point, but I think people revert to “get an android” because that’s the only option. We can all sit here and complain to the internet about wanting this feature or that feature, but it ultimately makes no difference. If you prefer iOS, the features will come eventually. If you need to have every feature that’s out there, maybe Android is best. As I mentioned above, it was likely planned for iOS 12 and the 6.5 inch phones, but they pushed it back to focus on performance. Something that benefits everyone.

I don't think Apple would allow this experience on a small screen because it is a less than ideal experience. This is why iPhones are considered higher end that Android phones, they just throw anything on there and whatever sticks, great. Everything that's on the iPhones is well thought out.

Apple should have less say in how and why somebody wants to use a feature. If they ever offer split screen multitasking on an iPhone, you can be sure that they only enable it on the Max just because it has a bigger screen since Apple are the type who thinks they know better.

Apple has done a very poor job with the split screen multitasking support of 3rd party apps on iPads. A lot of apps just don't support multitasking at all, even obvious ones that should like half of Google's applications. Split screen multitasking should be a mandatory feature of all apps that are not games. This will only happen if Apple puts it as a requirement instead of an optional feature.

But to be honest I have rarely used the split screen feature on my previous Android phone. It just seemed faster to switch between two apps than try to work with both at the same time. It's a feature that is more useful on a tablet size device.

So what is your choice C option then here, bang your head against the figurative forum wall until hopes and dreams come true and Apple comes here by random chance, reads it, and implements it ASAP?

It's discussed to death, people want it everyone gets it. Talking it to death wont change Apple. It wont change the more you post on MR though. If you need it that badly move on or wait that is all one can do right now.

I was under the impression this was a forum...a place where people come to discuss the things they would like to see, figure out why it can't/hasn't been done with like-minded people who probably also want the feature. If it's discussed to death, then maybe not open this particular thread and comment if it annoys you? If it was a MUST HAVE feature than obviously that person wouldn't get an iPhone that didn't carry the feature they absolutely needed. Seeing as how the OP saw that Android does in-fact carry the feature they want, telling them to get an Android is just redundant.
In my opinion, Apple's implementation of requested features are always better and more refined than Android which is why I will wait for split screen, dark mode, always-on-display, etc....if they ever materialize at all.

can the ipad even do TRUE split screen for videos? i've asked a couple of times and never got a clear answer. picture in picture in no way counts as split screen lol. you can't even adjust the size of the picture....

the splits screens i've used in the past only allow one of the screens to be active. the moment you click in to the other screen, the video stops playing. it makes split screen kinda useless imo. you either have to watch the video or pause it and do things on the other screen.

I agree. It seems like they placed a lot on the backburner regarding the larger screen size with iOS 12 because the extra space just isn't fully utilized, just scaled up (besides landscape in some apps). The only option is to wait, which is something i'll be happy to do while Apple greatly improves performance...which is obviously much more important than new features. Plus, the longer we wait, we know the better the feature will be when/if released.

It's not like they're features that are NEEDED for daily function, otherwise an iPhone wouldn't even be a purchase option.

It's pretty limited in regards to what apps support it. I like PiP, you can resize it with a 2-finger pinch (like zooming in on a picture) and move it to different corners. That doesn't really seem like something that would work on an iPhone screen, though. Although, it might be helpful for when you just need to go to another app for a quick second and don't want to disconnect from a live stream or something. It would be a welcome feature to me, but maybe not really practical to most users.

how else would they get you to buy the iPhone XI? they will announce it next year as a groundbreaking new feature only available to the iPhone XI like the greedy jacka$$3$ that they are.

If 5G is ready, I can imagine Apple hyping it with the Intel Modem that could support it. However, I don't expect 5G support until 2020.

"Crappy Note 9" lol yeah that phone is pure junk compared to any iPhone. You tell em bro

Apple fans: Who would ever want that? Thats not an Appley thing to do. Apple doesn’t want to let you do that because it will be a bad experience

Apple: ...and we introducing this feature!

Apple fans: *crickets*

I really don’t know why people keep falling in this trap lol. Maybe Apple doesn’t have this feature because it got delayed.

Absolutely hate all of the “then don’t buy an iPhone” replies, and the arrogant “if you don’t like it then leave” mentality of such Apple users. What kind of useless replies are they? I mean I love Apple (a little less these days) but my god when you suggest an Android feature like this do you get frowned upon... paints you all in a bad light. I can guarantee you the same people saying this would be singing Apple’s praises when/if Apple do implement it. It’s the one feature I want from them anyway, and PiP. The screens are all big enough now so why not? Doesn’t matter if you “wouldn’t find it useful”, I don’t think many find 3D Touch to be really useful yet it’s still there anyway.

I think most would consider it a nice to have feature, but not necessarily a deal breaker.

Agree, it's not a deal breaker. I prefer iOS to such an extent that Apple would have to totally drop the ball before I went to Android. But, as a long time iOS user, it's damn annoying constantly seeing features that you know iOS will eventually have, be slowly rolled out (like cut & paste, MMS, a front camera, group notifications, 4G, etc).

Yea I would agree, part of me wishes development of such features would come faster, but iOS needs to span hundreds of millions of different devices. This isn’t Android we are talking about.
