I use Otterbox Defender cases because they get bumped getting in and out of my car, sitting in a chair with arms, hitting them on a doorframe, etc... Yes, I work in an office, but my phone still gets bumped!

Okay, well, that is a lot of bumps. :D

Oh, you've seen my phone, have you? Again, insufferable arrogance. The fact that you can't keep your phone in pristine condition in no way justifies your assumption that others cannot.

AnotHer in denial:D

And my phone IS is perfect condition but only because I keep it in a thin shell case.

This thread is simply a debate of personal preference. Everyone has their own reasons as to why they want to put on a case on their iPhone or not.

Again, to each his own. I rather have an iPhone that is protected with a case on it rather than a scratched up one with dings and dents with lower resale value.
You seriously care about $20 resale value down the road more than enjoying your device? Wow.

I don't really care about how it looks and how i look with it, it's a smartphone not a gold brick.
I care more about the functionality and resale value. But yea, it's a personal preference. Whatever floats your boat.
So i have 2 bumpers, 5 thin cases, 3 battery cases. Well, even when i'm in a mood for a naked iPhone, i can just remove the case. But most of the time i put a case.

Exactly. I mean, I'm always curious why someone who works in an office buys the biggest, thickest Otterbox case to sit behind a desk, but to each his own.

I don't have an otterbox bit I use a case. I also work in an office but use my phone for backcountry GPS with topo maps. Just because someone has a sedentary job doesn't mean they live a sedentary lifestyle. My phone has also fallen off a table a couple if times and the case probably saved me a replacement expense.

Protecting your device with either a case or a screen protector is going to do just that - protect it. Yes, the aesthetics of the phone are beautiful, and yes, it is a shame to cover it up.. but the device, itself, is an investment. Accessories designed to protect it do just that - protect it, which in terms keeps the resale value of the phone high. Cases/screen protectors preserve the phone's beauty. There are people who run naked with it and say they dont have any signs of damage. To those, I say consider yourself lucky. ;) Accidents happen, regardless if you're careful with your device or not.

I can understand not using a case. I can understand using a case. I can NOT understand why it would bother someone else that I use a case. What a strange thread.

Exactly. Who the hell cares either way?

I know my iPhone is pretty. I don't need to see every inch of it daily to keep reminding myself.

I have a clear case and an Apple leather case. Both are very slim and allow me to enjoy the phone while keeping it protected.

I would rather protect it so I can USE it than run the risk of damaging it and having to get a replacement quickly.

But, if other people prefer not to use a case? No big deal to me.

i love the build of the iPhone so much but its so fragile that a case is mandatory for peace of mind and resale reasons for some people . i understand all opinions .
i own a macbook air and i have to carry it with so much care as aluminum is very chip/scratch prone . but with a notebook its manageable but with a smartphone its ridiculously difficult to keep it in pristine condition .

Interesting. I use a case, just something very slim that seems to have survived everything I've thrown at it.

A naked iPhone with wear and tear still looks a lot better than an iPhone in a case. Given the amount most people spend on cases, I think Applecare+ is the way to go..

My phone is naked and it has a gash on the side from being dropped. Still works fine to me, and doesn't look that bad.
