Mini-er Mac Mini?

I was just thinking the other day as I swapped the HD in my brand new Mini for an SSD </brag> they could make a much smaller mini.

Imagine if they took a macbook air and removed the batteries and the screen. They could get it down to about the size of the Apple TV. It could just have a Thunderbolt port (I would rather have HDMI, but Apple probably wouldn't do that), a few USB ports, audio and maybe a small external power supply.

For $500, that would be a nice little machine.

Pretty Simple

There is a Pico PK301 projector as well as a Pico PKA31 projector, currently for sale in various stores. I know the Pico PKA31 that Apple sells is sort of an "Apple" intended product as unlike its counterpart (PK301) it comes with Apple's connection kit. This could have just been a move to help sort confusion for customers looking into purchasing a Pico device for their Apple products. Just a thought....

The PKA31 Projector:

It could be:

Apple PIe COmpany.....or something to do with Pi (Apple Pi Company)

Apple is rich enought to 'own' Pi...and all the devices and inventions that incorporate it.

That’s my thought too. “Apple Pi” is kind of an obvious pun, yet some other company using it would leave room to be confused with Apple. So Apple may have bought it preventively. Maybe they bought several Apple Pi related domains, and ApplePiCo was just one?

Of course, buying one random domain name costs them less then the electricity cost for them to view rumor sites and laugh at us grasping at trivial straws!

As a side note, I'd love to see Apple TV with app support.

No kidding it would make a good "pico" computer. There is a surprising number of potential apps for such a little guy. Even in it's current form though more RAM would be nice.

How big are these projectors? I was just thinking about those rumors a few months ago about the cases having an extra hole for an extra flash? Could that be for a pico projector instead?

Oh man! Their game console is finally here!

And through buying Sega, no less!

I'm pretty sure Leapfrog has multiple patents relating to oversized, multicolored stylus-based input so this is going to get ugly really quick.

nano = small ipod
pico = small iphone

With all the rumors floating around about a low-end iPhone, why not?

In my opinion this could be best thing Apple could do. This would help attract people who don't need a smart phone but would want one that earlier to used.

Android seams to collect a lot of this type, because of price..

since pico = 10^(-12) = 10^(-3)*nano, that's three orders of magnitude smaller than the nano. It's a super-small iPod nano.

let's see with the shuffle at 1.5", .15" .015, .0015 inches...

That would put us into embeddable/injectable? instead of earbuds... a neural plant on the cochlear nerve? and/or the optic nerve (talk about retina!!;-) and one in the vocal chords?

The Other (7th of 9) Geoff ;-)

or geoport.com, ikids.com (are they planning on selling us children? lol), digital hub.com, ripmixburn.com, publishingsurvey.com, ischool.com. Apple has lots of domains registered to them

i hate when companies buy up all the good domain names and not even using them

Maybe nothing, but the guy from the Doors said he saw one..

But I do remember around the time the iTunes store launched a member of the Doors (Densmore, I think) blogging about dissing Apple when it requested the use of a Doors song in a commercial.

As part of that blog I thought he said he got to see some projectors Apple was developing (of course maybe he just thought they were Apple projectors). Can't find the link right away, but it's out there. Wouldn't surprise me if Apple had something brewing in its labs but never produced it or Jobs insisted on years of improvements before it would meet his idea of of great product (like iPad).

You assume it's ApplePico. it could be AppLepico or something.
You're just guessing at this point.
