My 1st gen was 8 gb and with photos, songs, podcasts, and apps (games and all) it just filled up very quickly. I don't want the same thing to happen. If they had 32gb I would buy that.

The best thing would be for Apple to include an SD card slot

They won't ever do this because then people wouldn't buy iPhones later on down the line, with a greater storage capacity, i.e. 32GB when it finally comes out.

No one is better at planned obsolescence than Apple.

I'm considering switching to the 8GB from my 16GB to recoup $100, as I honestly don't need the extra space after playing around with the phone for awhile. What made you decide to get the 16GB over the 8GB?

Oh, and before anyone says anything about the restocking fee:

No restocking fee will be assessed on iPhones returned within the 14-day return period.

After reading through this thread I'm starting to regret not picking up the 16GB model. I currently have a little less than 4GB left on my 8GB model iPhone 3g, and the talk of 2-3GB GPS apps scares me lol.

I'm still within my 14 day return policy. Does anyone know if I return my 8GB will I be able to purchase the 16GB at the $299 subsidized price?

Because I was bumping up against my 8GB limit on my 1st generation iPhone. Too many pictures and songs I guess.

go with the 16gb...I got the 8gb because I carry my ipod 30gb that has all my music and videos...but my 8gb iphone is filling up with the apps...like someone wrote above, you just don't know how big the apps will be or how many you will install

Purchased 8G iPhone 3G. Returned it and got a 16G iPhone 3G. I did this because I have 7Gs of music in my computer and I wanted more space to store images and applications.

If you purchased the 8GB at 199 were you able to just walk in, return your phone and pay the difference? I'd like to do the same thing, just wondering if there are any complications with the upgrade eligibility of an account when doing this.

I'm considering going with a 16 just for the additional space. Just need to justify the funds to the wife.

I wish they had a 32GB version now, as I have over 35GB of just music. Add video, apps, audiobooks! One of the Advantages of being An old fart - a lot of years of music!
