It boggles the mind why this evades everyone. Apple didn't release a black (or pure white) 5C because they want you to spend more money to buy the 5S.
This really isn't that hard people.![]()
Everyone except the people that have already said that.![]()
[MOD NOTE]
Lets stay on topic, discussion of yellow products does not belong here, feel free to start a new thread but this topic about the 5 iPhone 5c
Image
May have been scrapped, as there were a few leaks. Maybe it wasn't colourful enough/the Apple logo was too hard to see.
Or for other different reasons.technically it was on topic, the yellow color available for the 5c relates to a black not being there for a more female appeal.
Or for other different reasons.
Apple has a history of doing that. Remember the blackbook? If you wanted it you had to buy the more expensive model.
The lack of a black 5c is an interesting design choice. I'd think it's definitely not an oversight. It's possible it would have been too polarizing, maybe every just buys a black or white instead of a color. The colors they went with were new (to Apple) with the iOS 7 look, so it would have been quite awkward if the public rejected the new look by choosing B/W en masse. Take away black, and it forces customers to choose a brighter, more visually drawing object. The "white gets dirty" crowd then has to make a color choice.
Put a case on it though, and it's whatever the case color is, so I always wonder why it's any color other than black anyway...![]()

Then why release the 5c at all, in any color, if they want people to buy the 5s?
I'd wager that they found that the black 5c didn't work, for one reason or another. It could be something as simple as a production issue (ie a black model being the only one to require white paint in order for the print to be legible, thus adding costs to production due to it not being able to be painted on the same line as the rest of the colors), or something more research-based, such as that people who buy black iPhones have a tendency to go for the high-end models anyway, and would likely opt for the 5s even if the black 5c were available (that is just a speculative example, I have no idea if it's the case). Whatever the reason I'm sure Apple felt they were making the right decision, but it makes no sense that it's some ploy to get fans of black phones to buy the 5s, especially since the margins on the 5s and 5c are 69% and 68% respectively.

If Apple was willing to come out with a white (non-color) iPhone 5c with a non-matching black front, why didn't they simply come out with a black iPhone 5c?
Any ideas? Did they simply do it to force those who want a black phone to buy the more expensive 5s?
Because the 5C was made to appeal to females.
In the past, they've continued to sell the old version marked down. But this year they needed all of their aluminum machining and polishing lines for the 5S.If Apple wanted people to buy the 5S, then why did they even make the 5C in the first place?
"Wah-la" indeed. In the past, they've continued to sell the old version marked down. But this year they needed all of their aluminum machining and polishing lines for the 5S.
They needed a cheap, alterative. Wah-la, plastic with a lacquer coating.
Because the 5C was made to appeal to females.
Its 2014 guys we are allowed to like any color. No color is mutually exclusive to one gender. I'm a guy and I like the pink iPhone 5c and the gold iPhone 5s. I would say grow up but honestly it seems like its old people who can't grasp this concept..
I'm older and I like the pink iPhone 5c. Heck, I wear pink Polos to work. Don't throw all older folks under the bus just because one person acting up.
