Like many others on this post, I went with it because it was a little bit cheaper. Being a student, money is crucial :p and the few additions for the MBP didn't seem worth it.

I got a MB because I couldn't wait to get a Mac!

I got a MacBook instead of an MBP because I was saving up for a Mac and couldn't wait, so I got the MacBook instead. Backlit keyboard is definitely the biggest thing I miss.

Also, I think many MacBook users (including me) actually bought their MB before the current version. Right now the cheapest MBP is still $200 difference from the MB, but has slightly better specs such as 4 GB RAM. Previously they were both 2 GB.

I'm a college student so money was a factor. The MBP features did not really impress me or have anything I could not live without. Also I hate how the black keys get really shiny after a few months of use.

The new macbook is almost identical to the 13" pro, looks better and costs less.

Profit.

There really is no such thing as a "Pro" laptop at all. Anyone needing to do true pro level work really needs a powerful desktop with large screen. Even with as far as laptop tech has come a desktop is still much more capable.

i know there's a lot of people asking which to get, macbook or 13" macbook pro.
most people say the pro is better for many reasons.

so, why did you go with the macbook and not the macbook pro?
200 dollars not worth the "additions" to you?
is it because it's plastic and plastic is cooler than metal? (because it is; opinion.)
or are there other reasons

Um, when I bought my Macbook, 3 years ago, the Pro was almost double the price. I honestly just could not afford it. Add on they did not have a 13" version either. Though, if I had the money, the fact the Pros had a real graphics card woudl have made it a hard choice (being smaller is very important to me but I did want some gaming ability, soemthing this computer lacks).

That's why.

This time I did go Pro (just waiting for it to come in). 200 dollars is worth the extra for me especially with the newer features (the Pro at the time didn't have the light up keyboard or the large trackpad or the nicer case design with the black monitor outline). And I honestly *hate* white. Particularly when it's framing a screen... dark colors framing the monitor make colors on a monitor/tv pop out much better.

Plus, I really was not impressed with how much the top case cracks. Every single person I know with my model Macbook had cracks on the top case.

I ended up grabbing a Macbook after some damage occured to the 13" MBP I bought last year. For some reason I like the white polyc. body better - I'm not as "Nervy" if I bang it up or scratch it up.

I had a nice little bonus as well, instead of the $949 edu. discount price they actually sold it to me for $899, so I saved $200 over goign to another 13MBP. I'm happy!
