I seem to remember a mention of the hair being present to honor hair bands of the 80s. More specifically, Def Leppard's upcoming tour. Am I correct?
By the way, what's up with rockers always having long hair? Why do almost all rockers have it?

Hey that's pretty good. You should consider using it as your avatar for a while, mad jew, at least as long as the fad lasts.

I'd love to, but I'm not in "the club". It's something I really should get around to but probably won't until I find out what comes after the 601 rank...

Yeah, it could be a while...

Ultraubermegagod. I mean, 603.

Nobody limited what you could put on your avatar. Look at sethypoo's and yellow's avatars. They aren't a "special" member of any kind either. More posts probably won't help either.

Actually, I am a contributor, I just don't care for the moniker "demi-god".

Bottom line is that $25 is a tank of gas any more, and as much as we all spend on these forums we owe it to the ones behind the scenes to make a donation. If you haven't done so already - it's time to kick in and help cover the costs of running this operation

i don't have enough hair... errr... i mean posts to have a 'tar yet (i was feelin' left out 'n stuff) but if you look closely at one of the other hairy 'tars, another member incorporated a little piece of me into it :)
[ahem] my command key location - under radar ;) ;) ;)
that symbol and the stars are sorta "my thing" at other sites as well. now that i have a 'surrogate' i feel so special :D

the mystery is upon you ladies and gentlemen. but if any of us told you the very threads [hehe] and fibers that hold the universe together would simultaneously unravel and we'd be left with absolute chaos, it's for your safety... really.

Other sites? You mean to say you go to other forums?

joking btw :D

Maybe when I hit 500 posts I'll contribute and get a hairy avatar too.

Just think if every member contributed.... Arn could quit his day job

I admire your investigative thoroughness, Detective GodBless. Nice job.

I also like your choice of the word "special". It reminded me immediately of [playlistId=5178281&selectedItemId=5178245]Special[/playListId], a very politically incorrect song by Stephen Lynch. But perhaps it suits us.

:D yes, but only a couple. i'm a "board tech" (admin who doesn't deal with personal member issues, only board issues) at a parenting forum, which is also vBulletin. and i also visit a dirtbike forum. other than the parenting forum, i am a distinct "minority" at each place i go. it's funny being a rarity just by being a girl ;)

Let me know where you get your gas. I'd love to pay $25 a tank. Last time I filled up it cost me nearly $40!

same here, sometimes $45 - and my husband's truck is more like $50-60  ticks me off... but some will say that's what we get for choosing and SUV and a truck  howevever we use them for what they were made for ;)

i need to search out and refresh a gas price thread here, now i am curious.

I know what you mean :) . We have something in common. I'm a girl and a parent too... my kids are age 1 and 2.

But macrumors is the only forum I have time for. I did want to change my user name to something that didn't sound quite so masculine, but never got around to it, and now I have about 400 posts or more, this one is here to stay.

Well that's why Ford and GM's financials are in the toilet lately. I have an Aztek, it gets ~22 mpg, so not too bad. I don't do well in compact cars though as I'm 6'7" / 250 lbs. Still even for trucks and SUVs foreign car makers do much better with gas mileage. It really irritates me that American auto companies have ignored hybrid technology or even just create more fuel efficient gas engines. Now that gas prices are high and people don't want a gas-guzzler their cars aren't selling. Ford is in such a tizzy that they made a version of the Escape hybrid but had to lease the technology from Toyota because they didn't invest in it themselves in a timely fashion.

I don't know if I'd say you are getting what you deserve but Ford and GM certainly are. I think it was GM that lost about 2 billion USD last quarter alone.
