I know what you mean . We have something in common. I'm a girl and a parent too... my kids are age 1 and 2.
But macrumors is the only forum I have time for. I did want to change my user name to something that didn't sound quite so masculine, but never got around to it, and now I have about 400 posts or more, this one is here to stay.
i used my own name (Blue) in my username but that does me no good, Blue is a very androgenous name; i've met one other "Blue" and it was a guy [shrugs] so be it, i love my name. i put the woman symbol in my sig and then when i became a supporter the "goddess" aspect helped identify my girliness
😉 i don't mind being a "minority" though, i'm pretty used to it, i've never been what you call ordinary, although i admit i try. (i don't like to call too much attention to myself)
anyway, yes i have a 3 year old son - and he will be an only child... [haha] it's not easy and i am definitely the least maternal person that i know. i love the little guy but i have no idea what i am doing with a kid
😱

Well that's why Ford and GM's financials are in the toilet lately. I have an Aztek, it gets ~22 mpg, so not too bad. I don't do well in compact cars though as I'm 6'7" / 250 lbs. Still even for trucks and SUVs foreign car makers do much better with gas mileage. It really irritates me that American auto companies have ignored hybrid technology or even just create more fuel efficient gas engines. Now that gas prices are high and people don't want a gas-guzzler their cars aren't selling. Ford is in such a tizzy that they made a version of the Escape hybrid but had to lease the technology from Toyota because they didn't invest in it themselves in a timely fashion.
I don't know if I'd say you are getting what you deserve but Ford and GM certainly are. I think it was GM that lost about 2 billion USD last quarter alone.
i have a Nissan Pathfinder. the sucker still only get 15-17 miles per gallon.
😡 come to think of it, i've never had a car that got better than 22 mpg - i'm doomed.
my husband's truck is a Chevy Silverado (surburban sized behemoth) we used to need it to tow our snowmobiles but we sold those. it's handy to have but i really think we could do better. our cars are paid for though and you can't beat that (sometimes)
i am so not an american car type of person, so i hear ya
