Hi

Why do people like the color black on an iPhone ? isn't the color black on iPhone more prone to overheating in the summer months especially if you live in the desert south west like extreme southern California Arizona border nv and Phoenix area ? then other color iPhone

I don't understand why anyone has to explain why they like what they like. It's all preference. There are things you like that others don't like. It's just our nature. I could write an essay to explain why I like the color black BUT if that color is not your preference then it won't matter to you.

With all that said, I like black because, to me, it's a neutral color. It is not flashy. It blends in pretty much everywhere.

I wish they had a black option on the 17 pro/pro max, but even then I would have gone for the orange regardless.

I’ve had many colour phones but the reason I like black too is because the edge of the phone isn’t noticeable when viewing the screen. It just looks like part of the bezel. Lighter colours stand out more and while they’re not distracting they’re noticeable.

I got my first black phone this year I’ve had for ages just for a change and because I wasn’t a fan of the shades of white on the Air, though if they had sage green on the air I’d have been all over that!

I avoid black devices like the plague because I hate how dust collects around the openings and camera.

But the black Air just looks stunning. So sleek and slim and stealthy. Like they got the design team for the B-2 and asked them to make a phone.

I like the case to match with the big black screen on the front and the black appearance of the camera parts

Resale value / planned obscolecence concerns and obviously:

“Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious. But above all black says this: "I don’t bother you - don’t bother me".”

I hear it is a psychological defect science hasn’t quite explained. It think it’s called Personal Choice. (I might have spelled that incorrectly, being it is such a recent phenomenon.)

The colors are great for any sort of individual who is emotion-based.

I like sleek and subtle, these things are tools and very expensive, and they need to look the part. Space grey wins every time.

A number of seasons. Eg some think that black looks more “professional”, especially in a work environment.

Personally, I don’t wear black. I’m self employed and the only time that I wear black is to funerals (which at my age is starting to happen far too often) and maybe weddings. Why do people wear black to funerals? I probably know the answer, but black just reminds me of, well, death.

But being a bit more serious it’s (or should be) a personal choice that shouldn’t be influenced by others. An example - years ago when I got a white iPhone my sister in-law seemed concerned. Why I asked her why, her reply was - “aren’t you worried people might think that you are gay”. But that’s a reflection of herself and shows the kind of person that she is.

In what world is white a “gay” color?? She sounds insane lol.

To answer OP, I’ve had a variety of colors over the years but the true black phones are my favorite. They look the most sleek and modern to me. I also loved Midnight Green back on the 11 Pros. Miss that color.

I think for me it goes back to iPhone 4 maybe 5 where these sold in huge volume and set the standard for iPhone colours.

I know there was a white one, but I think the black looked particularly good!

I did back with iPhone 3gs-5 and 7. I thought it looked better than white, and I don’t believe the where other colors to choose from. Now I want color and I want them on a full glass back so it doesn’t get scratched and look the nicest :)

I like black because my iphone is a tool, not jewelry, not a fashion statement, not a statement about who I am. The best feature of black is that it is less noticeable by others.

Unless you leave your iphone sitting in the sun or under an infrared lamp, which is stupid, color has no effect on heat retention. Zero. If you do leave your iphone sitting in the sun or under an infrared lamp, then silver is by far your best option. Orange is better than black but still much worse than silver because it absorbs parts of the light spectrum.

Best way to avoid heat retention is no case. If you want a low heat retention case, use carbon fiber. The case material that retains the most heat is silicone. Of course, factors like thickness of the material are also relevant.
