I have played with a XR the 3 times that I have been in Apple Stores since it launched. In my option after having an X for 13 months, I do not consider the XR an upgrade due to the OLED screen on the X, dual lens camera, more premium feeling for me, 3D Touch and smaller bezels. I’m not worried about the battery life on the XR, since my X can go 1.5 days on a single charge with moderate use. Also putting my X side by side with the XR, the XR is not much bigger than my X like the XS Max. Even though the XR display more on the screen than the X it don’t matter to me.

Once again in my opinion, Haptic Touch, aluminum casing, slightly bigger LCD screen, bigger battery and non-premium feeling is a non-factor to me. Case in point, if a XR was given to me, in no way would I use it over my X. Even a year later I love my X and despite the $1249 that I paid for it I don’t regret it one bit.

Yout post says it all, doesn't it? It all comes down to a matter of personal preference.

The differences between them are very clear-cut and documented.

I didn't think the X was a sufficient upgrade over my 7 Plus due to the (for me) insufficient battery life and much smaller screen.

Apple didn't forget, but they still consider the XR an upgrade over the X.

Some people are interested in the XR's larger display, which can display the same amount of content as the Max.

The content is the same, but the size of the rendered text and pictures look slightly smaller.

For those who care about such things I do not believe the xr does this:

I snap a lot of pics.

I want the single lens wide angle portrait pics and bigger sensor and much higher storage for a price much less than what people pay for a 64gb Phone X. Also want the future proof new and faster processor for editing content. Also want the best battery life.

Unless Apple enables wide angle portrait mode pics on the iPhone X the XR is an upgrade over the X by far for me.

Here’s a screenshot from my XR. I think there’s no difference when rendering, the only difference is in the actual size of the content when displayed.

Still can’t get over how narrower both keyboards are compared to 7P...

I cannot type on the max in landscape mode. Would have to separate they keyboards to actually type effectively. I hear what you are suggesting about narrow keyboards though.

No offense, but again, I wasn't asking your opinion. Since you also consider it an upgrade over the X, what I was asking doesn't apply to you.
You posted on a public forum.

No offense, but you ask a bad question on a public forum and that's the kind of answer you get

The XR is the definition of an upgrade over the 8+.

As long as you don't watch YouTube at 1080p you should be fine.

In the middle of several books.
Is it to justify their purchase? The only thing better is the battery. In no way is a XR an upgrade over the XS, let alone the X.
Why are you spending time ruminating over how other people spend their iPhone money? it doesn't matter whether their purchase makes sense to you. Spend your time contemplating about things that you can control.

XR is not an upgrade over the X
XR is not an upgrade over XS
XR is not an upgrade over XS Max
XR is an upgrade over the 3G, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, SE, 6, 6 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus.

yes theyre doing it to make themselves feel better.
no theyre not correct.

I disagree. I think it can be an upgrade over an X..depending upon why you choose either phone.

What matter is it if people are happy with their own choice...and not what someone else thinks. Why do we ask these questions!!? Don’t worry about what other people think about their phones.

I posted in a public forum, but directly quoting and addressing a specific member. It's like sitting at a dinner table among a group of people, someone says, "I think the sky is red!" I ask them why they think so, and you chime in "Actually, the sky is blue!"

Um, thanks. You obviously have every right to respond, but it doesn't help me understand the thinking of the person I was addressing.

What effect does watching something with "826p" compared to "1080p" on a mobile phone have when it comes to the end user?

Contrast ratio, true blacks. With a good pair of eyes, or reading glasses you could notice a difference side by side. I'm not saying the XR is a bad phone. It seems quite nice, but at 750 is it a good deal?

In a practical sense when it comes to the vast majority of typical users (who represent the vast majority of the consumers) that aspect of it likely won't play much of a role.

Yes to me it’s a great deal considering phones lose value and it does exactly what I need it to do without having to pay $500 more for something I wouldn’t notice unless it’s side by side. My experience is still the same. 1080p isn’t a game changer. $500 is.

People come here for purchasing advice all the time. It would be misleading and downright dishonest to tell them the XR is better than the more expensive phones. It has an inferior screen, one less GB of RAM and uses cheaper materials such as aluminum instead of stainless steel. Apple would not charge you less for a better product. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but it would be really selfish if there where people in here that hold AAPL shares and are trying to sway potential customers to buy XR phones, so that their share price goes up for personal financial gain.
Wow the force is strong with this conspiracy theorist. Oh and of course you accusing “they”

All this passive aggressive “no offense” should be a drinking game
