My new flagship Android Moto X Pure
Was only $502.00. Faster, smoother and very ergonomic it's a perfect example of how much pure profit Apple adds on to iPhones. But Apple ads plenty of extra profit on everything they sell.

You don't get to be the biggest company like Apple by offering value.

You do know that Motorolla has lost BILLIONS the last few years?
So you want Apple to price match a company that is virtually bankrupt?
A company that Google sold for pennies on the dollar to get rid of it like a dog with rabbies?
A company that Google bought for $12 billion and sold for $2 billion?

Call it value or whatever you want. Motorolla is losing money on every phone it sells.

I think the iPhone is too expensive for what it is these days, but the strong dollar has a lot to do with it for us Norwegians.
The earlier versions I was always looking forward to, and got really exited about, but my 6+ annoys me a lot more than my earlier iPhones. Touch ID is buggy, SMS all is buggy, touch screen never seems to work accurate in the calendar app, if it works at all.
It certainly has taken away a lot of iPhones earlier appeal to me

My 6+ runs perfect

If I keep my 6S I'll be selling my 5S for $350. $443 to upgrade to the 6S. It is a lot up front but I prefer to not be tied to a carrier and stuck with extra monthly payments. If I had sold my 5S last year and upgraded obviously it would be less to go from the 6 to 6S. I think the iPhone is very close to other android flagships when it comes to price (outside the Nexus phones). You're going to pay for it one way or another whether it's on a contract or outright.

So you would rather by phones from companies that are virtually bankrupt?
So you would rather have a phone that is owned by a Communist Chinese Corporation that can easily tract your data?

so all this badgering is about a mere $100? Or about 13 cents a day over two years?

Really? You are not willing to pay 13 cents a day for a more stable OS, guaranteed OS updates, more privacy, less Malware, retail support, best build quality, better resale value, and assurance that the company is going out of business? Companies like Sony/HTC/LG could easily exit the smartphone business tomorrow.

One could argue that a 32GB Samsung S6 Edge is expensive, so to then have to spend a further $100 on storage to make a base model iPhone usable in 2015 makes it even more expensive. There's a big difference between something being expensive and not being able to afford it. I can go shopping for razor blades and think they're expensive. I can buy an expensive toothbrush, or an expensive bottle of aftershave. None of these items are beyond even a schoolboy if he saves up his pocket money but they are still expensive for what they are, compared to similar products on the market.

Also, you get to the point where you think enough is enough. You want a 32GB iPhone but they don't make one, they do 16/64/128. The 16GB model is ridiculous in the 'selfie' age when you have 12 and 5MP cameras, and with the advent of 4K video. So you end up having to pay a further $100 on top of what to most people is already a very expensive mobile phone. Then you consider AppleCare, which is a further $120. It all adds up to a very expensive purchase. Sure most on these forums can afford it, as can I. However, it's still very expensive for what it is, which is essentially a mobile phone.

For some reason unique to Apple many of their customers are so emotionally attached to the company they worry about how much the company is making.

I participate in other special interest forums. One involves high priced exotic cars. No one on that forum ever worries about that manufacturer.

Fact is the Moto X models are selling very well and like the Razor of years ago, Motorola is coming back. They have a very long history spanning back years before smartphones existed.

Yes the smartphone business is very competitive. Apple made wise move 15 years ago when they decided to dedicate millions to marketing. Steve Jobs true expertise was being an excellent salesman.

it is expensive when i can get a nexus 6 for literally $400 less than an iphone 6s plus and it does largely the same thing

i stick with iphone because i dont want to get away from the apple brand but i am aware i am paying too much for it.
unfortunately im locked in.

Now you are in way over your head, your lack of knowledge is showing. But I'm not here to argue I'm sure you can get someone else to play that game with you.

You better worry about Motorola. They are a few steps away from bankrupcy. And after that good luck with getting any type of support.

Motorola helps Lenovo ship record number of smartphones, but it also inherits Moto’s falling profits
http://9to5google.com/2015/05/21/lenovo-motorola-smartphones-profits/

Lenovo’s first full quarter since it completed the acquisition of Motorola from Google brought good news and bad: smartphone shipments and revenue up, but profits down.

TechCrunch reports that Lenovo shipped a record 18.7M smartphones in the final quarter of 2014, reported now, with year-on-year revenues up 21% – but profits fell 37% …

Exactly, and many Android fans will swear blind that not only is it largely the same thing but it actually kicks the iPhone into touch.

What are you talking about.

When Google bought Motorolla they were worth $12 billion. Google sold them in the last year for less than $3 billion.

Motorolla is owned by Levono which is a communist corporation in China

Motorola make very good phones, and Lenovo have some very good pcs in their range. Why should we care where the designers of our products live, or what regime they live under?
Apple products are designed in the USA but manufactured in China, along with practically everything these days.

You can buy a Kia Rio for $60,000 less than a BMW 740 and it largely does the same thing.

And why the hell are you comparing a year old Nexus 6 phone to the 6s. Google doesn't even sell the Nexus6 anymore. Good luck buying a Nexus 6 today that has a valid warranty.

I care because its proven the Chinese governement is responsible for multiple hacks into USA financial institutions. If the China governement wants data from Motorolla users they can get it with a single phone call. The Motorolla/Lenovo CEO will hand over data without a second thought in a communist state.

Your proof? How do we know that Foxconn don't pop a small hacking chip into our iPhones on behalf of their commie masters?

Apple knows exactly what Foxconn puts into the phones, give me a break.

Want proof? Lenovo put in spyware in their laptops.

Lenovo slapped with lawsuit over dangerous Superfish adware

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2887392/lenovo-hit-with-lawsuit-over-superfish-snafu.html

A proposed class-action suit was filed late last week against Lenovo and Superfish, which charges both companies with “fraudulent” business practices and of making Lenovo PCs vulnerable to malware and malicious attacks by pre-loading the adware.

Yeah I read about that at the time. They have removed it. Not good but hey, it doesn't prove communist state involvement.

In a ferrying you from A-B manner, yes. A Google Nexus smartphone will match the iPhone for speed, power and updates too.

give me a break. The Nexus6 has a horrible camera, battery life sucks for such a large phone, and lacks premium build quality. When it first came out it retailed for $650.

Doesn't matter. In a communist state an Chinese corporation is at the mercy of the government. If the CEO refused to hand over information they could execute him. Sorry I don't want all my personal information, banking transactions, online purchases to be at the fingertips of a communist company.

Read more about Chinese hackers

Its not a stretch for China to use cellphones as a gateway to hack data.

That's your choice.

So you seriously want Apple to price match those companies that are losing BILLIONS every year? really?
For me, I'd rather pay their asking price, as long as they stop paying Chinese children pennies to make the phones. What gives them the right to charge a premium for the phone if they are unwilling to compensate the workers appropriately?

The bolded is just hyperbole. I agree Motorola was a great company that has been mismanaged and probably thought it was wise to get into the smartphone business. But are you worrying about Motorola?

man you are truly ignorant.

The factories that make iPhones don't hire anyone younger than 21. The wages they get are 200% higher than what they can get anywhere else. That's why MILLIONS of ADULTS apply for jobs at the factories.

And tell me the companies that make phones that don't use cheap labor?
