23,010 is a mind boggling number to me, thats like 3 a day. I know I don't have 3 things worth saying a day. just ask my wife!

In fact, she would argue the only thing I ever need to say is 'yes dear'

well the good news is, while I am obviously not overly concerned with getting my avatar or whatever (I am an active reader but not poster), with this thread alone I have added significantly to my count. without having to be intelligent.

Got to go.

Yes dear.
I would say the humor in your posts clearly demonstrates your intelligence.

But I do appreciate that you don't post fluff just to get your post count up. Easily 50% of the posts I read from newbies and veterans alike are fluff (including more that a few of my own lame attempts at humor).

You've been spending too much time in the iPhone/iPod/iPad forums. There's a lot less "fluff" in the Mac forums (although even those aren't fluff-free). :D

QFT. I dare not venture into those parts of the forums, because for one, I'm not even slightly interested in the iOS craze, and two, I'd probably rage quit the forums multiple times a week. :p

RE: Avatar

"Because we're not in Kansas anymore. This is Pandora."

As someone said earlier it helps with an avatar to tell people apart when skimming - so I don't really get why the avatar requires more posts than the marketplace either. It just seems weird that it's more important to have the incentive... Hm. But then again, I'm sure there are carefully concidered reasons behind it all.

I visit the rumor sections very scarcely because I don't care about Apple of today and I'm not skilled enough to help out with problems in the PPC-section (which is where I'm hanging out most of the time) so I'm mostly asking stuff. But most of the times google can help me, so I'm not nearly as active here as I usually am on forums. Which I think is a good thing. :D

I've been here for almost 6 years. Still no avatar. Doesn't really bother me. I usually only contribute when I have something worthy to add. More of a lurker really.

I guess I could get in the middle of those endless "Android vs iOS" threads or anything in the iPhone forum, but I rather not waste my energy.

Back to lurking.....

So is the next iPhone going to be called iPhone 5? ;):D

I have finally seen MacRumours G5! I can die now.:)

I can remember when he had less posts than me. He had ~11,000 posts last year. Wow! IDK how he does it, but as he said, if people didn't ask the same questions everyday.....

As far as the 500 posts go, I think it's a rule that should be deleted. I've been to other sites where it doesn't matter how many posts you have.

Much like G5isAlive, I'm a long time lurker. Let's see if I can break triple digits this year! At the rate I'm going, it might be another decade or two.

You can engage in some heated debate in some of the more controversy topics? That should get your post count rolling. lol

Downsides are you will probably waste your time raging over nothing, your reputation here may go down the toilet and chances of getting banned will increased.

I really want an avatar too!!!
If you really want the specific reason why I want an avatar is that I'm more of a design/ image / visual person after all I work in the design industry. So, I want a visual depiction of moi :) instead just my username.
but it's a different reason for everyone else since everyone is unique. but it's all self expression. ya know?

I'm more of a pondering type person. sometimes, I only like to contribute to meaningful discussions as much as possible. more often, I just like to read more than posting sometimes. so, I don't know how long it'll take me to have 500 posts.

P.s. I bought a bundle package (the macupdate one) through this site just very recently and I clicked on the link so I can contribute to this site. Does this make me a demi-goddess status? Just wondering since I read that you gain that title by contributing moola to this site. Is that correct?

Did you pay $25 separate from the MacUpdate bundle?

That's not how you contribute. Here's how:

How do I contribute to MacRumors.com? from the Forum FAQ

One good way to get your post count up is to find all the posts by people trying to determine how much their Mac is worth, and then tell them:

"As others have suggested, you can check Mac2Sell, eBay (including completed sales), or Amazon for prices of similar models, to get an idea of what you may be able to charge. Then adjust your price to account for condition, configuration, remaining AppleCare coverage (if any), etc. "

;):D:p

If people ask the same questions, they get the same answers. I don't ask the questions. I just answer them. And the ones asking for pricing advice are about 0.39% of the posts I've made, answering thousands of questions.

I'm willing to sell my avatar. $25 should be a fair price.
