Why do we have to wait till 500 posts to get an avatar?!

I have been here for one year and have post count of 379 that is very low do to I'm not that active here at macrumors , I come here and post here in waves :eek:

I'm way too busy to spend 2 hours day here at macrumors. I'm not big on avatars and not even sure what avatar I would want . And do to I'm not that active here I probably may not get one :eek: Even if my post count gone up 900

I could post more here and read more here but way too busy . So I kinda of come here in waves with new upcoming OS , iOS and computers so on.

I think a lot of people post when they could just like or dislike what's been said already. Maybe like and dislike clicks should count for something?
 
everyone just post 500 replies to this thread, and we will all get there soon enough,

I don't think the likes/dislikes should count towards anything...except maybe if you have 1000 more dislikes than likes it could put the word (HUMBUG) next to your name .
 
I didn't even realize I had over 500 posts until the other day. I just came on and thought to myself, "I should make an avatar for my macrumors account". I had completely forgotten about the minimum post count. I'm not sure how I got here this fast. I generally read more than post.
 
Funny that... I've loved the mac for years but for some reason find myself posting on a forum for expats in Thailand more than here .... ABOUT MACS.

Can't wait to get MY avatar... it's REAL cute. Just you wait and see!!
 
i think the number of posts for an uploaded avatar should be raised to 10,000 just to make them REALLY special

Maybe at 500 posts you get to choose from a handful of pre-selected avatars, with a couple of new ones available every 100 posts until you hit the magic 10k mark when you can upload your own.

I hate avatars. Even worse are the forums that allow pictures in signatures. It's an eyesore.

except then the moderators will delete your posts citing rule #3 "Overposting. Making the same post many times, making multiple pointless posts in the same thread, making numerous posts with no real content, or posting for the purpose of gaining a higher post count."
