With screen protector and case, hard to imagine the chance to use Apple Care. If you really use it naked, I don’t think Apple Care let you get a new phone just because there are scratches. Then who should pay for Apple Care while the phone value drops so fast anyway?

there is no Apple Care in Indonesia. all they have is some knockoff "Apple Care" here. and the process is a lot of trouble, unless youre some well known public figure... or just very lucky...

It also doubles your warranty to two years or longer If you go monthly. That extended warranty allowed me to replace my kids Air 3’s that all developed the famous white spots on screen after the regular warranty was up. It’s not just there for accidental damage.

Air is not cheap, Apple should offer screen replacement of this issue for free.

Without applcare plus, depending on what phone you have, that's the cost for out of warranty replacement. Such as device replacement due to cracked screen, etc. Normal. However, if you have AppleCare plus and you damaged the screen and want to only repair the screen, it's only $29 bucks and if there are other damage that will require a whole unit replacement, it will be $99 US.

There will always be a possibility of screen cracks or damaged housings even with case on or screen protector on. It all depends on how and where it hits, also depends on what type of case you have. I still get apple care plus even though I use a case. But I do not use screen protectors.

If you have apple care plus and you want to get it replaced because of a scratch, I'm sure they can, you just have to use 1 of 2 incidents and pay $99 bucks.

Several automatic assumptions here…

You assume I'd use a screen protector and case just because they are there. I don't use them.

You assume that because I wouldn't use a case or screen protector it means damage will happen to my phone. I take care of my devices.

You assume that scratches matter to me. They don't. I'm careful with my devices, so why would I have scratches? And even if I do, so what? It's a tool and tools are meant to be used.

You assume I care about resale value. I don't sell my phones, I pass them on or put them to other purposes.

If I get AppleCare, I get it to cover any defects and any potential problems or accidents within the first two years of the phone's life. After that, the device is paid off.

Right now, I only have AppleCare because it was crammed when I bought my device. I just decided to keep it.

Peace of mind.

Exactly this. I am very careful with my Apple products, but accidents happen (especially with having a toddler). Having AC, I know that I'm covered should anything go wrong with my iPhone/iPad/Watch. Those are generally the three products I add AC to since they come everywhere with me. MBP/ATV/HomePod Mini--not so much.

I rarely drop my phone, so no need it. But I dropped it and broke the back glass of my iP13Pro Max. No more Apple clear case from now on. It doesn't protect from drops.

Apple Care not only provides damage protection, but live support (either via phone call or a visit to an Apple store), in addition to protection against theft and loss. On my first iPhone, an SE gen1 that I got 5 years ago, the phone support was priceless while I was switching from the Blackberry OS of the time. Then, while bending over at work, my SE - along with its case and screen protector - dropped into a vat of 350 degree grease out of my front pocket while I was cleaning a deep fryer. I took it to the local Apple store after I cleaned as much of the yukky grease off of it - and they replaced it with a new device within 30 minutes. Yes, bending over the fryer with my smartphone was a birdhead act lol -- but I was sure glad Apple Care was there to protect me against myself. ?

AppleCare + is peace of mind for 2 years. Bringing an iPhone or any other Apple Product to a non authorized repair shop doesn’t save you money as it i adds more headaches

It's quite a finely balanced calculation for me - I have AppleCare on my current iPhone but haven't always in the past. I never bother with iPads or Macs. One factor that helped me decide this year is that here in the UK, Apple offers a plan that also covers replacement in the event of loss or theft. It feels like good value for me.

As ever, 'value' is a both a numerical calculation (probability of damage/loss multiplied by non-warranty cost etc etc), but also a peace of mind thing. Knowing my (very expensive) phone is insured avoids a 'heart-in-mouth' moment when I drop it, or if I momentarily can't find it, etc - this is worth something to me.

Peace of mind. I would rather have it and not use it than not have it and need it. A case and screen protector was no match for my best friends 13 Pro last week. A student grabbed her phone and dropped it on the tile. The whole back shattered. First time she has ever broken a phone. Guess what? 29.00 and the back glass was replaced in an hour. Unknowns like these are why I have it. Plus my poor 13 Pro Max is always getting abused by falling off the couch and off my lap onto the driveway when getting out the car.

I just used it on my iPad Pro. Bought it in January, and pay $5.99 for AppleCare. I dropped it in the tub while reading the other night and it immediately killed the display. I paid $49 to have the replacement shipped to me and $18 for 3 months worth of insurance. Beats paying $1,000 again for an iPad.

Besides not having to worry about it being lost or stolen if use a device away from home, I have had 2 iphones and 1 ipad replaced by AppleCare. Don't remember being charged for the replacements.

For lost and theft protection, piece of mind and continued support. My daughter’s 11 speaker went out and she needed her screen replaced. They botched the repair, so my daughter’s iPhone was replaced for $29. It was a win win situation for me. We use cases and screen protectors, but accidents happen and I rather Dave money by getting a replacement or repair then to pay full price for the repair or replacement device.
