Those seem to be exactly what the OP wanted. They look better than I thought they would (for some reason I was thinking of black pads like the ones on my laptop). I'm still not a fan of how rubber feet look on the corners of the iPad though.

These actually look pretty nice! I love using my iPad without the iPad case it came with, but I could never prop it on my knees when I'm lounging because it always slides down. I wonder if these $5 small rubber feet would do the trick.

EDIT: whoops, meant to quote the one who posted the idroplets website. My bad!

EDIT #2: I just ordered some! $5 is definitely not that bad and I feel this will do exactly what I want it to. I plan to get a sleeve with a kickstand (anyone have case ideas?) and snap these on and be happy. Gotta ditch this Apple case that came with this iPad 1 when I bought it...

Maybe you should rethink this idea. Lol feet on the iPad? Not nice. Invisible shield it or gelaskin it.

No, that is the last thing I want to do. I can't stand those horrible plastic covers. Sure they might protect it, but they mean that I can't feel the metal texture of the iPad and they themselves get scratched up pretty bad really quickly and make it look like the device is scratched.

I can't believe people think this is such a bad idea. Even if the feet were as big as the iDroplets posted (thanks) you guys would still be against it? I don't mean feet as big as the ones on the laptops.

wholeheartedly, 100% against it. my ipad has never (?) laid down on the desk. it would be completely pointless, and would ruin the sleek lines. i always have it on a stand of some sort (bookgem or incase origami workstation) or fold the wonderful original cover (iPad 1) back into a triangle to prop it up.

Oh god now i remembered one guy from here that put some big hideous black rubber feet on his iPad(horribly out of symmetry at that) and created a thread asking what do we think.

The horror.

lol. people have done some hideous things to their apple devices. more power to them! put a hundred feet all over it if you like :) but, please let me buy the gorgeously designed minimalistic product without feet.

Agree looks better without but the bumpers look better than scratches... these aren't bad either www.ifootpads.com and also includes a template so getting them symmetrical isn't so hard.

This got me thinking - why doesn't iPad have rubber feet on the back of it? Even if they were just tiny little feet, just enough to keep it slightly above any surface .

Because in 99% of my devices the rubber feet fall off and get lost. and now this really looks ugly.

I don't understand the use of skins, cases, feet, unless that item also does something else useful like prop it up. I have a $12 handmade quilted sleeve that the iPad goes in when I'm moving or storing it. When I am using it on a surface, the iPad sits on top of the sleeve. Other than that it's naked, and 100% scratch free after a year.

Same here. I employ a similar strategy for iPhone use.

Just take care of your stuff. That's all there is to it.

Apple is all about design. They would never just stick rubber feet on something like the iPad unless they were able to make them somehow blend in to the body of the aluminum and they would do it only to create friction in case it was laying flat. They would never allow something to stick out of the body and make the device look thicker or uglier.

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't take wear and tear into account in their designs. The iPads are gorgeous devices, but the metal is very soft and scratchable. iPods look beautiful when they first come out of the case, but that metal back scratches if you even LOOK at it funny. The iPhone 4 is the most gorgeous phone I've ever seen, but it's essentially made of glass. (nuff said on that one).

Style, Mr. Monk... Style!

It would look extremely ugly, and no longer like a tablet.
Then the rubber feet would get stuck while placing it on a case, falling and loosing it.

There are many ways to 'compensate' the 'lack' of rubber feet. You'll just need to be creative. :D

I have the Apple iPad case, which makes my iPad more functional, but you are right, without any cover, it could easily get scratched.

I did see a back cover that is completely clear and scratch-proof, and it doesn't look bad at all as those gel-made cases sold everywhere.

Oh, check out this product... http://store.griffintechnology.com/ipad/xpo
