Why everyone stopped using Siri

What isn't a standard about it? Or did you mean to say iMessage is not a standard and proprietary to Apple products?

Besides messaging isn't even the issue here. That generally works fine with Ford Sync. We are talking about Siri.

Ford SYNC isn't Siri, either. IOS uses Bluetooth MAP, Message Access Profile, which is a standard.

Siri works with Bluetooth and the MAP profile. Ford SYNC is developed in partnership with Microsoft and is proprietary technology.

According to Ford support messaging does work now with iOS. Make sure you are using the latest version of SYNC and My Ford Touch software with your car.

I speak to Siri exactly as I would speak to a human. Calm and collect.

I wouldn't use Siri if I needed to "bark out orders in an exaggerated manner". lol

What do you say to Siri so that it sounds normal to everyone around you?

I tried 3 or 4 times to get siri to play the correct music and never used it again. Not accurate to use for anything important. Pure gimmick IMHO.

I use siri quite a bit - to select a playlist, start a timer, set a reminder, check the weather, get sports scores, etc. I don't find it essential - I'd be just fine having a phone without it - but it's nice to have and very very accurate unless there's a lot of background noise.

I think if Siri still had the ‘potty’ mouth, I would be more inclined to use it. Instead, the “thing” keeps telling me,,, “there’s no reason to use profanities...”.

I use Siri all the time to ask about locations nearby or get directions. I usually say something like "Hey baby, take me home" and she has no problems. There are a few hiccups here and there but I can deal with that just the same as I am fully capable of wiping my own ass.

I don't rely on Siri or the phone even for that matter. It's something nice to have, but if the internet or cell phones died tomorrow I would be able to live on just the same as before it was all ubiquitous.

I find Siri very useful - it is vastly more reliable than 12 months ago, and night and day over its initial release.

I'm not generally speaking loud enough for everyone around me to hear me. Like a normal phone conversation.

But if you ask, I'm not sure, normal things. "Where is Steve?" Opens FmF and shows me his location. "Send Steve a text, hey are you going to be much longer? I can meet you there if so." "Read new text"

Just normal stuff I guess. I used that as an example because I just did/said that today.

With iOS 8 beta I use in the car and when plugged in more than ever. If still on 7 likely would just be for reminders

I think my problem is that I don't have Ford Touch, just Ford Sync. I can connect my phone via Bluetooth, hit the button on the steering wheel and make/receive phone calls. But if I try to send or read messages I get an error that my phone is not supported. My car is a 2014 Ford Focus.

My whole reason for bringing Bluetooth in the car up was that before I had my current car, my last car was older and didn't support this. So in order to call someone or send a text, I preferred using Siri so that I didn't have to worry about using the touchscreen while driving.

I use Siri maybe once or twice a week. Either she doesn't understand what I'm saying or she takes too long to perform the tasks I ask her to do, and I end up just doing them myself.

Found another good use for her just today. I asked her what time Costco closed... And I was kind of surprised that she knew. So I went further and asked her when the 8-seat mom and pop coffee shop down the street was open, and she knew that as well. Got to hit the door and get my Sunday errands done just a little bit quicker today - thanks, Siri.

The inaccuracy and also the amount of missing data in Apple maps, side by side with Google map when outside of the US is vast.

I found that when :apple: maps first came out here (South Africa) it was far behind Google Maps, but as time progressed they have caught up and are actually better in my opinion. One thing that :apple: seems to do a lot better is updating their maps in my area to reflect renaming of roads
