I want to like the apple watch. When it first came out I had no interest. Now that more smart watches are in the market I have the urge to pick one up. However I can't bring myself to drop that much money for an extension of my phone. It looks nice, but the thickness of both the bezel and the watch itself annoys me.

As for just a fitness tracker and notification thing, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 caught my eye, and I love the long screen design. So for more than half off the price of an apple watch I may be heading towards Samsung and see what Apple does to the watch in the future.

I like the look of the Apple Watch, but the rectangular design certainly isn't for everyone and a round design certainly is liked by the general consensus, which Android and Garmin offers.

I agree it can be off putting with Apple's price points for their hardware. But they do make a product that Lasts. I was glad to see they reduced the price of the entry level Sport model this year, even if it meant they made the necessary changes with the packaging. The other downside with the Apple Watch is it really does not retain its value, now that the Market is saturated with them.

You can send your unused Rolex to me if you don't mind. :D

 Watches are a common sight in western NY, let me tell you.

Sure, send me your address. :p

I'll likely get around to selling them, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Some brands, particularly Rolex and Patek, have been in quite a bubble over the last decade, so it'll be interesting to see what happens to their value. I mean, the MSRP of a SubDate has nearly doubled in a dozen years, and the vintage market has gone crazy.

I love the 16610 SubDate, with thinner crown guards. Someday I'll have one, but the prices don't depreciate enough! :D The Patek and Jaeger but those are too pricey even for dreaming.

I actually trade my 16610 last year for an Explorer II, which is a little more off the radar.

@jwolf6589 , are you not going to respond or did you simply start this thread to troll?

Sometimes I see forum members who start threads, it changes course they did not expect and the discussion seems to get sidewinded, then they don't know where to contribute, start or finish the discussion, so they abandon it.

But I agree with you from the first page, it all started with a thread title which wasn't exactly portrayed appropriately. It helps when the OP provides feedback based on their thoughts, which creates new avenues for discussion versus other forum members replying to everyone else's interpretation.

I haven't seen any data to suggest it's not sold well or sold well. I don't see that many in the wild on average but then again there is a lot of the younger generation that don't wear watches full stop. Since people look at their phones so often I think watches have seen a slight drop in appeal.

The Apple Watch has sold more in its first two years then the iPhone did in its first two years.

Critics say that the watch has not taken off in 2 years and probably won't. Like AppleTV it's not meant for everyone. What do you say? AppleTV has lots of competition and the watch does as well.

Lol you do know the Apple Watch was Steve jobs right?

i think it's a pretty pointless product , not very well thought out or designed and a perfect example of pipe line timmy and his utter lack of creativity , vision and taste

in the old days everything had to be sieved through jobs' laser like focus on usability and excellent taste , cook clearly hasn't got a clue and just fields it all out to jony etc

his only interest is in how much profit he can make and where to source the cheapest components

look at the mac pro - do you think steve would have allowed that joke out of the labs ?

It sure looks like the PC critics and anti Apple types I was talking with do not know what they are talking about. Thank goodness because I love my Apple Watch.

That's the thing: I almost believed the anti-hype; i.e., those questioning the utility of the Apple Watch. Once I had it on my arm, however, I realized it is one of the best things Apple has ever done. Maybe it's not for everyone, but it does exactly what I need and I love the way it looks. For me, it's near perfect.

After the second day of owning an Apple watch, I wondered why I didn't buy one sooner. I love it so much I bought two more.

After using a Gear S watch, this was the watch I was truly waiting for.

I had never worn a watch in my life until my hubby came home with an Apple Store bag. He had bought us both one. I was nit impressed at first as never wearing a watch I was not feeling it. Week later I was smitten. It's only off to charge. I do all my texting and contactless transactions with it. I love it.

The Watch improves existing functionality but doesn't add anything new (as far as I'm aware?) so you wouldn't expect it to sell like an iPhone. Also, some people, like me, just don't like wearing watches. Aesthetically it's probably Apple's worst product too. It doesn't look bad but it doesn't scream 'buy me' like a MacBook or iPhone might.

I actually prefer the rectangular design, it's more modern to me, even though it's not everyone's preference. However, I don't believe the iPhone screams "Buy me", considering the Apple Watch and iPhone are very similar in design.

Have had mine for a few weeks now, and whilst it isn't a "necessary" device, its one of the most useful Apple devices I own.

It offloads a lot of time spent on my phone, and keeps me from getting distracted, whilst still getting important alerts.

I suspect that it will be one of those slow burn products that people eventually come around to. That said, selling millions per quarter isn't exactly a failure.

For me, the AW works as a fitness device with an ambient heart sensor. The iPhone can't really do that.

Also, the AW serves as a quick and easy way to check the time and my meetings an appointments. My iPhone can do that, but it's much easier with the watch.

Lastly, many times, the iPhone (or any smartphone) can be a distraction. I might pull it out to check the time, but then I get sucked into something else. With the AW (or any watch) I check the time and then I'm back to business. I'm easily sidetracked so this is a real problem for me. YMMV.

I just don't buy it that the Apple Watch isn't selling. I see them all the time. On my commute I see them but I would expect that as I commute into London. However every time I go into my town centre I see at least one and I'm not looking for them. If I were actively looking I'd se even more.

I was watching a basketball game the other day on TV and as the camera pans across the audience in the stands, I was amazed how many I actually saw wearing an Apple Watch. I tend to look for those who wear an Apple more than ever and it's really expanded from when it first debuted.
