I don't agree. I have a 64gb 6+ and I just tested out Epic Zen Garden and it was beautiful and ran completely smooth with no lag or stuttering. Not sure why yours does. I only had a few other apps running in the back ground at the time.

the transitions to the sections of the Zen Garden has some hiccups. the actual animations of the sections (leafs blowing, fish, etc.) ran good. it was only the transitions that were stuttering.

I'm starting to think this person traded their phone in, not fully understanding what the issue actually was. Haha.

I am so sick of the Steve Jobs thing. Its like people forget he had plenty of stinkers over the years (like the ping service, or an iPhone that lost its signal if you held it wrong).

I keep looking for it, but I never see any lag with my 6+ at all. Maybe I have just been lucky.

Unfortunately, that's the nature of things when someone passes away. Their opinions up to or at the time of their death are considered as eternal, and we never get to see how they would have evolved and changed over time.

In regards to anyone selling this, how do we even know that the issues with Zen Garden with the Plus
aren't because of software optimization hiccups? Even if it exists solely on one phone or the other, it doesn't mean they don't have issues with the scaler on the 6 Plus.

Even on the 6, if you trace some sand in Zen Garden, it doesn't feel like its real time like tracing in a paint program.

Everyone has there own opinions. All of us respect yours. I personally don't have the issues you do. I just turned on my iPhone 5 yesterday as now it's my iPod. I do notice lag but didn't before and largely because of how smooth my 6 Plus runs. Battery life is the best of any smart phone I have ever had.

Best of luck on your new device.

its not a dealbreaker for me its just very noticeable especially when comparing my 5 next to the my Plus. Things like sliding up and down on the notification center or control center just feels better on the smaller 5. Like i said, the Plus isnt a snail by any means its just when comparing it to its smaller counterparts its just not as nearly as buttery smooth.

It just begs the question whether an update can fix it or not.
I did notice swiping pages had lag at times on the Plus I tried, but that doesn't seem to be an intensive GPU task, and neither is pulling down a notification bar.
I'm not claiming to know this for fact obviously, as I'm not a software techie or knowledgeable on coding.

For me, it was between the Note 4 or the 6 Plus. I was coming from a 5S and the 6 really underwhelmed me. I just need a bigger screen though, so I bit the bullet and ordered a 6 Plus. The fact that my iPhone and my rMBP sync so perfectly made the decision a lot easier.

The 6 is already a large phone for me....it does not have the comfort of being able to reach whatever I want on the screen like the iPhone 4 once did...even the iPhone 5 was a slight stretch for me but the 6 was more siginificant. I still really love my 6 though and there are more benefits than downsides for me...however the 6+ would be far too much phone for me...I think I might have been able to get used to a 6+ but I just made things easier on myself and got a 6.

For those actually noticing the slight lag the 6 Plus produces in animations and such, i just messed around with my 6 Plus settings and i turned ON "Reduce Transparency" and switched the Display Mode from "Standard" to "Zoomed" and the flow of the whole phone from transitions to animations is such an immense difference. I know its been concluded since iOS 7 that the "transparency" feature takes a lot of resources out of the phone which is why there has always been a slight lag with transitions such as sliding up and down notification center and control center on the lock screen but it definitely shows there is a scaling issue and hopefully this can be fixed VIA a software update. My 6 Plus now operates as fluid as the regular 6 in terms of animations and transitions.

I can't answer about the original iPhone...

I can. The original iPhone was just as slippery. It's the curved edges and smooth surfaces.

On comments made by others on Jobs, I have to agree that it's a mistake to over burnish his image now that he's gone. Jobs had plenty of high profile failures in his time at Apple going all the way back to the Lisa. Let's not forget the heinous E-Mac, the "puck" mouse, the super ugly "bondi-blue" iMac, the lamp-arm iMac, the square iPod mini and so forth. It was never all wine and roses with him. As with all visionaries he hit some out of the park and wiffed others badly.

That's odd because every Plus I tried at the Apple Store including mine would stutter transitioing from each section to the Zen Garden. The leave and butterflies animations ran good it was just the movement from section to section where it would show clear stutter

Zen Garden on the 6+ seems like a joke. It crawls through area transitions. I can't believe this is the one that was chosen to show off the power of the phone and "fps speed". To respond to the rest of the thread, the 6+ does lag, considerably. My iPhone 5 running iOS 7 and my 5s running iOS 8 are both faster opening and working in native apps as well as navigating into and out of 3rd party apps. Safari runs slower and the opening of new tabs and apps lags behind the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. I know many are saying "it's working just fine for me". I guess it depends on your idea of "working fine". Is it something that is going to be detrimental to our everyday lives? No. But should Apple's most expensive, top of the line phone costing close to $1,000 run undoubtedly slower than their own phones made 1 and 2 years ago? No, it really shouldn't. The specs should have been beefed up. Simple as that

I've definitely experienced the mag and app crashes. The app crashing I am sure is a result of no optimization for the new devices. I remember it happened a lot when we got retina displays with the 4. Crossing my fingers that the ui lag can be fixed with an update. There were claims when 8.1 was still beta that it fixed it. Nope. Not for me anyway (though in some instances like going from portrait to landscape while in a video it's better).

Well I know there will be alot of anger towards me so let me tell you this is purely my own opinion!

After 1 month of using the 6+ I just wasnt satisfied here are my reasons:

1. Steve jobs was right... you need a phone that can be used one handed. I found myself using both hands which wasnt a problem but in those rare occasions where I did need to use the iphone single handed it was such a struggle! Maybe the iPhone 6 is better but alot of people who have it have said its not much of a difference compared to the 5S.

2. The LAG! when you pay so much for a device you dont expect stutters and lag... iOS 8 and 1gig ram cripped the 6+. Not to mention that 1 month AFTER its launched the ipad comes with triple core processor and 2gig ram? Apple cheaped out to be honest... Apple knew the iphone would sell like hotcakes! So why make it any powerful than the minimum.

3. Constant app crashes... honestly having a 64gig device you would use it to the fullest ie apps apps apps but the more apps that are on the thing the more it crashes!

4. Awkward construction and slippery nature of the phone - apple made the back completely flat and the aluminium is so slippery its difficult to hold properly with the fear it will drop any second!

Well thats why I sold it... I guess I will wait next time before buying it on day 1...

Dont flame me reason for this thread is to inform people I know there are hardcore apple fans out there and I am one of them.

You'll see people chime in here saying: "I see no lag". These people are either lying or simply don't notice the lag.

This is because lag is objective, not subjective. Speed can be measured and it's somewhat easy for people to notice when a computer is slow or slower than what they're used to.

I started a poll about iPhone 6 Plus Lag literally days after the new iPhones launched (linked to below). I was hoping that iOS 8.1 would fix it and it doesn't. The lag is as present as ever. One major pattern I notice with people complaining about lag is transition effects. For instance, switching between Apps. Or opening an App (e.g., calculator). There's a longer delay I find for things like drawing up the UI of an App, particularly when it hasn't been opened. Try opening the calculator App on an iPhone 5S and then on the 6 Plus to see an example of lag drawing up the UI.

Also, pressing the home bottom to be taken home often results in a longer delay before anything happens than my 5S. There's lots of other examples.

The iPhone 6 Plus feels exactly as the iPad 3 did. It's annoying as hell but I've decided to stay with the 6 Plus. I'm at a point where I don't think the iPhone is that much better than an Android smartphone like a Note 4 or Sony Z3. The lag is part of this reason.

I also agree with you about the slippery construction and awkwardness. The top and bottom bezels are bloody huge. They need to make this thing less tall physically. That would be a start in helping with the size.

Dude the reduce transparency won't really change anything. I've had that setting in place since day one and it's lagville.

You're experiencing the placebo effect.

What did you replace it with?

I've had a nightmare; I got the 6, then started looking at the Plus, bought the Plus and didn't take to the size, went back to the 6 and then started seeing the Plus everywhere and bought it again.

Now I really like the Plus and have kept it, it's a little big but so are other smart phones in the wild. The battery for me, makes it a winner.

You sound like me.

I had a 6 plus, then a 6, then another 6 plus, and now a note 4.

And Im having iphone withdrawals big time.

Fml.

Try it along "zoomed" display and simple transitions such as swiping Notification Center are much faster. There's actually a "bounce" now to my notification shade when it hits the bottom of the screen. I also notice how much faster the animations for the predictive text above the keyboard are . It's definitely not placebo cause reverting back to default I notice have much more laggy these simple animations and transitions are.

After the wifey let me use her 6+ one or twice :) I think I'm going to get myself a 6. I like the bigger screen but I think a 6+ would be awkward for me to carry around all the time (I carry my phone in my shirt pocket).

Good shout, saw some guy with it in his shirt pocket last night - stuck out at least 1 1/2" above pocket line. Begging to fall out ;)

You know what Zen Garden is right? It was at the Keynote to show the graphical performer of both 6s. It runs beautifully on the 6 but on the Plus it runs horrid. If we are talking benchmarks, the 6 has beaten the Plus in every GPU benchmark test I've seen. It's all cause of the higher resolution, so many pixels for an inferior GPU.

THIS

I still have my 5 running 7.1.2 and it flies. So fluid. Even the regular 6 runs so smooth. People just don't want to admit that the same specs used on the regular 6 just aren't enough for such a massive phone in the Plus.

You must live in a parallel dimension

http://www.anandtech.com/show/8554/the-iphone-6-review/6

Iphone 6+ is consistently better than 6 in almost all the GPU benchmarks. There are just a couple where its higher resolution results in a slightly lower score than the iPhone 6, but they basically are the best on the market.
Call the iPhone 6 or 6+ GPU as "inferior" tell me a lot about how much do you understand on the matter.....

Maybe he has a defective iPhone.... When I read his comment about the "inferior GPU" I just rolled on the floor....
