Why I sold my iPhone 6 Plus

Gee I must have been so lucky!

I got the 6 Plus. It hasn't bent in my pocket! I put a Incipo http://www.incipio.com/ case and it's never slipped out of my hand!

It fell out of my pocket once hit the concrete and NO damage!

I have had a few Apps crash solved by quitting the App. I think it's a case of the App not being up to date!

Oh and I haven't noticed any lag whatsoever! And yeah the battery lasts twice as long as my iPhone 5! The screen is so easy to read and I can still scroll one handed!

Yep, I must be the luckiest guy on Mac Rumours! I think I should start a new thread and let everyone know!

Right. Glad to see you catch on pretty quick. Either way I'll be lmao next year when the 6S offers 2Gb of ram and much better performance. All of you who opted for the 6/6+ spent way too much on a limited device.

You're missing the fact that we will get the the 6S+ next year but in the mean time we will enjoy our 6+ for a year without you, oh and I'll lmao this year and next year

It's too bad we lost another iPhone 6+ user. Been using my iP6+ for the past few days and I can't put it down. Though I do agree with you regarding how slippery the phone is. Which is why I slapped on a nice case over it. :)

Why? its not like its a fraternity or anything. I think people need to pick the best tool for the job, and for some the IP6+ isn't it. I also agree, the phone is way too slippery. I have the apple leather case on it, which increases the grippiness

Try it along "zoomed" display and simple transitions such as swiping Notification Center are much faster. There's actually a "bounce" now to my notification shade when it hits the bottom of the screen. I also notice how much faster the animations for the predictive text above the keyboard are . It's definitely not placebo cause reverting back to default I notice have much more laggy these simple animations and transitions are.

I agree. It makes a HUGE difference putting both "zoom" and "reduce transparency" on. Of course, we shouldn't have to do that. However, it does make the phone very snappy. I keep those options off though because they ruin the user experience for me. Unfortunately, I'll just stick with the lagginess

I don't dispute that the 6/6+ is slippery. The OP started the thread by saying how Steve Jobs was right about certain things. Well, it's as slippery as the original iPhone and many of us (including myself) went caseless with the original iPhone.

Yup. I took the case off my original iPhone right before the 3G came out and managed to drop it a week or so after I started going without a case... on a tile floor. Argh.

It put a tiny little crack in the top corner of the screen and (boy, I miss the old days of Apple and iPhone customer service) the Apple Genius just glanced at it and gave me another phone. No questions asked.

Times have changed. LOL.

what lag and app crashes? I have had a 16gb plus for 2 weeks now, no issues whatsoever! At least we have a choice, I love the size of the plus

Really? You haven't had any crashes at all? My wife's plus crashed several times a day. The messages app would stop working and trying to close it would cause the phone to reboot and switching safari from portrait to landscape would often kick her back to the home screen.

that is correct, no issues at all (yet)

I've had my 6+ for over 3 weeks and it has never crashed...

Considering the experience I've had with IOS 8.x and my iPhone 5, 6, and 6+ you're pretty lucky. I'm sure me and the thousands of others posting to the Apple forums are just using our phones wrong though.

Haha well each person has different apps, data, backups, etc. It would be like saying "hey, my PC crashes" and another person going "weird, mine doesn't". So many variables. But yes, Steve Jobs would say you're using it wrong.

I am so sick of the Steve Jobs thing. Its like people forget he had plenty of stinkers over the years (like the ping service, or an iPhone that lost its signal if you held it wrong).

I keep looking for it, but I never see any lag with my 6+ at all. Maybe I have just been lucky.

It's difficult to overestimate Jobs's influence over Apple. I know what you mean though, he made a lot of bold statements and went on to change his mind when presented with new data. I personally believe he would have signed off on a phablet due to demand, and he would have either thought of or demanded some incredibly cunning means for using it one-handed. It would have been insanely great, absolutely mind-blowing, and once introduced it would have seemed like the most obvious way to use a phablet with one hand.

Now we're stuck with reach-around, er, reachability. Really great, but no insanely great. sigh

the transitions to the sections of the Zen Garden has some hiccups. the actual animations of the sections (leafs blowing, fish, etc.) ran good. it was only the transitions that were stuttering.

It's the app. It stutters on my iPad Air as well, and I believe it was written for last-gen hardware.

Well I know there will be alot of anger towards me so let me tell you this is purely my own opinion!

After 1 month of using the 6+ I just wasnt satisfied here are my reasons:

1. Steve jobs was right... you need a phone that can be used one handed. I found myself using both hands which wasnt a problem but in those rare occasions where I did need to use the iphone single handed it was such a struggle! Maybe the iPhone 6 is better but alot of people who have it have said its not much of a difference compared to the 5S.

2. The LAG! when you pay so much for a device you dont expect stutters and lag... iOS 8 and 1gig ram cripped the 6+. Not to mention that 1 month AFTER its launched the ipad comes with triple core processor and 2gig ram? Apple cheaped out to be honest... Apple knew the iphone would sell like hotcakes! So why make it any powerful than the minimum.

3. Constant app crashes... honestly having a 64gig device you would use it to the fullest ie apps apps apps but the more apps that are on the thing the more it crashes!

4. Awkward construction and slippery nature of the phone - apple made the back completely flat and the aluminium is so slippery its difficult to hold properly with the fear it will drop any second!

Well thats why I sold it... I guess I will wait next time before buying it on day 1...

Dont flame me reason for this thread is to inform people I know there are hardcore apple fans out there and I am one of them.

Makes sense. What phone are you using now?

loving my iphone 6+ 64gb and i dont care how big it is the battery is amazing.

DOES NOT CRASH!

Clearly. Curious, how did you get an iPhone without Messages and Safari?

I'm assuming you're implying the majority of crashes come from Messages and Safari...neither of which have ever crashed on my 6+ since I've had it.

Safari does occasionally crash on my iPad Air though.

I just got my 6 Plus yesterday and so far it really has no problems at all. I can use it one handed for texting depending how I'm holding it. There is absolutely no lag at all. So far only one of my Apps crashed once and I believe that is a iOS issue and not the phone itself. Both my 6 and 6 Plus are slippery, but I keep a very thin clear case on both so it's not an issue at all.
OP, the 6 Plus didn't work well for you and that is fine. There are plenty of others out there that might be better for you.
