Care to elaborate? I'm curious because every review and personal hands-on I've read pretty much contradict all your claims

I personally think a few people on this forum are trying to start some "I went back to my iPhone4 after the buying the SGS2" train without ever having a SGS2. You get the feeling they're personally upset the SGS2 is getting so much attention they feel they have to make false claims to discourage others who may be interested in getting the SGS2. It's quite sad. If you get to use these phones back to back, the performance and experience is Night and Day. I keep saying this, but it's true. The iPhone 4 is not anywhere in the same league as the SGS2. The iPhone 4 feels completely dated after using a SGS2. This shouldn't be a surprise as it is the only expectation you would have comparing a phone that's over a year old to a new one.

I actuallly noticed a reversing pattern lately.

I remember people calling others stupid for not buying anything other than an iPhone. Last July someone mentioned they bought an HTC Desire on our local forums and people went "why buy an inferior device when the iPhone 4 is simply superior". Most people pushing iPhones would simply say its better saying its smoother and faster and not showing how exactly they benefit.

Now i think the android camp is turning the same way. Slowly iPhone is becoming the "crap no one should buy". Me mentioning why I sold my SGS2 to come back to an iPhone 4 to a fellow member on same forum resulted in a 10 page long warfest of how ignorant people like me are, how iPhone is for kids, that android owners' IQ jumps significantly after getting one, that iPhone 4 "simply cannot even compare to SGS2" without taking into account someone's explanation of how they can actually accomplish a lot on it despite popular belief.

I for one am enjoying this. The more android owners become ignorant and heavily defend their superphones the more i like my "tiny ifail" lol. Besides that means we can get additions to our OS now that everyone thinks android is the top dog, meaning we can enjoy it even more while being the new underdogs.

Well this is what you call opinion. Just because someone doesn't like SGS2 doesn't mean they have not used it. The same can be said other way, that SGS2 users are in denial that people would actually not conform to their opinion that it is the best of the best.

Hardware wise, i agree it was a pleasure, software wise, android fails to keep me interested.

Now if meego was running on it, I would have kept it.

I agree, please do not discourage others from getting the GSII or other devices. I charged my credit card $719 (free shipping) from ExpansysUSA and I'm still waiting for my GSII to arrive and I can prove it.

I can not lie, I love the iPhone4 and the Apple/iTune eco-system, but I returned my factory unlocked iPhone4 back at Apple store ($801), b/c I felt that it didn't merit paying such an exorbitant amount of monies for a 1yr old technology when a new iPhone5 is just around the corner.

Perhaps the GSII is no iPhone, but I'm sure I will test it, play with it, look at it's pros and limitations, but not discourage someone from not buying on. Again I'm not being bias b/c as I said b/f I love the iPhone, but wanted to pay for new hardware (dual-core CPU, HSDPA+ and better camera).

Wow, and here I thought I was the only one who loved the N9's meego software. Meego seems to be really simple and elegant I wish Nokia would have not jumped ship to WP7 :(

You just don't get it. That's the problem.

Everyone has different needs/wants out of a phone. Not everyone thinks a big, beautiful, power-hog of a screen is worth sacrificing battery life and having to worry about charging their phone mid-day. Many people find the polished and premium feel of iOS to be more important than some of the customization Android offers.

You are coming across as someone heavily invested in Samsung and this phone. Your accusations and ridiculous repetition of 'The iPhone 4 is not anywhere in the same league as the SGS2' without the ability of being at least somewhat objective make it very easy to give you no credibility.

This topic turned from a good pros/cons comparison of the two phones into a neurotic mess.

Please stop being so neurotic.

"Oh, this person said bad and good things about both phones and decided upon a phone. Oh no, obviously they never used one of those phones!!"

Most neurotic thing ever. They didn't buy or use the phone, but they decided to post a fairly detailed list of likes/dislikes about said "unpurchased" phone and another phone? What? Neurotic!

I can understand if it was like "People who bought the SGS2 are dumb. I just tried it and it was crap." without any further elaboration. But this wasn't the case.

My god.... myyy god... how neurotic.

And finally to the OP, interesting comparison. I've always thought the SGS2 looked good. I'd try it out myself if I could find a working one at a Rogers or Bell store.

If I were to ever grab an Android phone, though, it would probably be a Google branded one. I never seem to like the other skins.

Many people find the open and highly customizable Android OS to be more important than the polished, closed ecosystem iOS offers.

Glass houses my friend, glass houses.

I love my iPhone 4 but the Samsung galaxy s2 just kills it!!! Hands down the best phone out now. The battery life has been good for me but not as great as the iPone but it lasts the day. The screen size is great for the web and the speed is as fast as my Mac for page loading times. I have ios 5 on my iPhone 4 and I do think that its an great upgrade but I like the customizations that I have control over with android better. The iPhone 4 feels laggy after using the sgs2. I do agree that it is super light and dose not feel as premium as the iPhone 4. But it is VERY FAST!!!

I find it funny that people are still comparing a brand new phone to one that was released a year ago.

100% agree!!

I switched 4 weeks ago, and i am verry happy with the SGS2.

Dont even think one single second about switching back to an iPhone.

With the iPhone taking care of all of my electronic needs I tend to not care about specs anymore.

Great battery life? Check
Great display? Check
Great design? Check
Great camera? Check
Bluetooth wiimote + emulator gaming? Check
Useful apps? Check
Netflix streaming? Check
TV out ability? Check
Great resale value? Check

Cant really find an Android phone yet that does all of the above...

Where can you see an iPhone related to your checkpoints???????

omg.

You're posting in every iPhone thread on a Mac website about how superior the SGS2 is. I have never wasted my time going to a Samsung/Android website talking about how great the iPhone is.

Faaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil

Hes speaking the truth and is helping people decide between SGS2 and iPhone.

Your post FAAAAIIILLLLLS.

Ive been over a month trying to decide if I buy the SGS2 or the next iphone. After a LOT of thinking I decided to keep my iphone 4, which to me is the best phone Ive ever had. I previously had all symbian phones, many Nokias and the Samsung Omnia HD.

The samsung was the WORST mistake I have ever made on a smartphone. I bought it because its hardware was amazing at that time, but guess what? The software was AWFUL and the support NON-EXISTANT. Samsung only gave 2 updates and the updates made the phone SLOWER. My god, when I remember all this... I had to update my phone with updates coming from Samsung Italy!!! WTF???

That was how I understood that software is more important than hardware. IOS is the best software for phones, even thought it lacks many of the cool features of Android, such as widgets, live wallpapers, open source, task managers, etc.

Android looks really really cool. Ive been wanting to try one for over a year!! The Galaxy S2 has an enormous screen, which I love, but... its pixel density is WAY LOWER than the iphone 4!!! Bigger screen + low pixel density = A MESS. Im sure the Galaxy S 3 will come with qHD display, like the HTC Sensation, but it cant match the retina display. Im sick of having a 3.5 inch display, but hey, ive come to understand that its better. Bigger doesnt mean better. Pixel density does mean better. Whats the point of 4.3 screen if you have to zoom to read?

Let me tell you something else. I hate touchwiz. Its the worst UI I have seen in my whole life. All the OS is with black backgrounds!!!! Its so awful to look at!!! Plus, when texting or writing, you get this windows which covers all the display!! Hate it. Hate samsung. They treated me awful as a customer, and I spent over 600 euros on that omnia hd!! It had only 10-20 apps!!! COME ON!!!

I did a research on android market and it had most of my iphone apps, but games... absolutely nothing worth apart from gameloft. Apps on android look a lot worst than on ios.

Im no apple fanboy or android fanboy or whatever. What I am is a high smartphone love. I have no problem changing to any OS or manufacturer.

Yes, IOS is not evolving as I would like, but hey, it really does work quite nicely and its very VERY stable. On my samsung omnia HD I couldnt even read my email!!!

I really like android, but I wont go back to custom roms and stuff like that. I dont buy a 600 euro phone to spent hours trying to understand how to flash or root a device. No way. I like simplicity, but I also like to have those options.

SGS2 might have awesome hardware, but iphone 4 is a year old, and for me it still works and its super fast. Hell, I have NEVER been able to say this about any of my previous phones!! Congrats to apple.

Finally I decided that its not worth the change just to have widgets, live wallpapers and some more. I chose stability and a awesome UI look. These are the benefits of just selling one phone a year. You get great support, many apps, updates on time...

Samsung just lost me as a client with the omnia HD. But someday I will try android, cause I really like to try other OS and stuff.

great hardware...horrible software :(

I really wish google will make a better email client. it's retarded you have to use a 3rd party to get a decent one.

with my iphone, i have 5 email accounts via microsoft exchange with all in one inbox!

nothing can even come close to that on android :(

everything else is great though somewhat...

^^^ this i just trade mi galaxy s2 for a black iphone 32gb on baseband 1.59.00 that's rare to find on this days the s2 is a monster phone but really bad software just hated the soft i would imagine a phone like this on ios that would be really nice

That is weird I have two emails accounts linked into my android mail app. My CSUC email and my personal email. I just don't think you know how to use google's email services.

I agree! I love my iPhone 4 but the SGS2 is super fast and there is no lag at all. Even flash videos play without any hint of lag. I am getting great battery life out of mine also. It would be hard going back to the small screen after using the 4.3 inch screen.
