the lack of html support, inability to edit forwarded text, and fact that you can only select multiple messages if they're sequential. obviously.

My sarcasm detector is going crazy. I wonder why :) My guess is that its the ability to set how you want the LED to flash, and how you want the phone to vibrate!!!!!!11!

I liked many things about my Blackberry but web browsing was NOT one of them.

Now i do not have a 3GS and i know you finally have voice commands but the VC on the Blackberry's was good. Love the texting on them as well and i think is it better than the iPhone, ....for me anyways.

Ringer and overall volume is way better on the BB's which is pathetic on my iPhone.

Using Wi-Fi on the Iphone is just far superior to BB and it isnt even close imo. Plus there are many more Apps. I love my iPhone but i also like BB's and is the phone id go back to if i ever stop using an iPhone.

I hate that Apple always releases new firmware with a bunch of bugs. Something is always not working right when they do. Now they get hot and the battery life isnt as good and i cant backup my phone now. Im sure it will get fixed but man they suck sometimes. On the other hand, BB hardly ever releases a new firmware to make them better.

BB is the MS-DOS of phones. The interface is poor and not well thought out and the keyboards are whacked. Very hard to use if you are productive with an iPhone virtual keyboard.

Oh, go jump in a lake. You fanboys are all the same, whichever side of the fence you're on.

How am I a fanboy? Go test yourself on this, write an SMS then try to reply to an IM then back to your SMS. See how many seconds it takes. Bet you BB can do it in half the time. iPhone doesn't have true multi task support :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Was pretty sure 4.5 added html support.

It's certainly possible. My firm's IT dept is about 4 years behind on everything (we're forced to use IE, and we just went from IE6 to 7 last week... yeah you read that right).

Ringer and overall volume is way better on the BB's which is pathetic on my iPhone.

don't know which iphone you have, but I agree with that statement as it regards my old 2G iphone but not the 3GS.

Which brings up a good point - with both iphone and bb it's easy to generalize (I'm certainly guilty of it in this thread). I'm sure the experience varies a lot from one model to another and one OS version to another. FWIW, my comments should be read as limited to iphone 2G and 3GS and bb 8700 and curve 8320 as those are the models I've owned. :)

From messages to Beejive and back again = about 5 seconds, including message time.

It takes almost 0 time to switch between apps on a 3G S.

So basically the BB has a better email push system, and that's it?

That's all I've gotten from this thread. My conclusion:

Young people: iPhone
Old businessmen: BlackBerry
Everyone in-between: iPhone

:D

Depends on needs. Loved my blackberry for email and battery life. Love my iPhone for iPod and web browsing.

So after a couple weeks of deliberation, yesterday I picked up a used BB Curve 8900, switched over, and retired my iPhone. I was unsure about whether I would be able to adapt after a year on my iPhone, but after just a few hours, I know that I won't be going back. Here's why:

<snipped reasons you used to convince yourself>

Now, there are some things about the iPhone I will miss...

Seamless syncing with my Mac
I had to use a PC to get my contacts over, and I'm not even going to try moving my calendars over

iPod
'nuff said

Uncrippled wifi
When connected to wifi on the iPhone, every data feature was available... I'm on an unlimited email BB plan (no actual data allotment), and a lot of features are unavailable, which is annoying

So there you go... I had my iPhone for a year, and I really did love it, but the BB is just a powerhorse.
I'm confused, are you a business user? Was the iPhone a work supplied device? Is the new Blackberry work supplied? If not, what the hell are you smoking? You admit that the the phone is inferior but you are going with it anyway? That makes no sense. You obviously are not in the target market if you feel the need to jailbreak the device and then wonder why performance poor when you have installed winterboard and a bunch of other hacks running in the background.

I fear that you have more money than sense if you are willing to spend so much money and then just throw it away so quickly and buy a new shiny but crappy plastic device.

I've been reading this thread in amusement....but this one had me scratching my head. Please explain WHY someone would even need lightening fast switching between apps? I mean, the iphone may be slightly slower than a BB, but is that 3-5 seconds more REALLY such an inconvenience? I am a busy business person too, but I cant imagine being so anal about an extra 5 seconds that I would feel the need to complain about it, nor would that be a selling point for a new phone.

So the upgrade from the 3G to the 3GS wouldn't be a good idea in your opinion?

Yeah, I don't want and wouldn't need sorting, filtering, signatures, a bunch of email addresses, some keyword nonsense, and a unified inbox. That makes me a fanboy.

Agreed. Not a fanboy either (in fact a girl anyway :p ) but why does anyone need these features? The ONLY thing I can consider useful would be the different signatures, however it doesnt take any time to switch back and forth between multiple inboxes (in fact it keeps it much more organized) and the filtering, sorting, etc. I still dont see the need.

I make no assumptions about you, but I've noticed girls tend to like the Blackberry more than the iPhone. :) Except me. Then again, I'm one of the few girls I've ever met who didn't constantly need to be on the phone with her friends while driving, walking, going to the bathroom, eating, showering, sleeping, etc.

I think so many girls like the Blackberry because they can touch-text while driving and putting everyone in danger.

For the record, I might be getting an iPhone someday, since we're already with AT&T, but for now I use a pink Sony Ericsson w580i and it's a pretty neat little phone. Then again, all I do is make calls and text on it, nothing else.

hahaha:D

It has other advantages if used in the corporate setting, central administration being the big one now that hardware encryption/remote wipe have been taken care of.

Ah yes, forgot the different signature thing. That one bothers me about the iphone, if only because it would be so absurdly easy to allow multiple sigs that I can't understand why they don't. Has nobody on their dev team thought of this??

As far as the multiple inboxes, I also don't mind them, but the argument would be, why not have the option of a unified inbox for people who want one.

So the upgrade from the 3G to the 3GS wouldn't be a good idea in your opinion?

Nope. I didnt upgrade and dont regret it. If people have the money and want to spend it for the new gadget and extend their contract, thats their perogative, however I didnt see the need to upgrade.

Like I said, I'm a business person too, on the road most days and the 3G suits my needs just fine.

Both the iPhone and the BB are personal phones. I'm not sure which phone you think I "admitted was inferior" - all I said was that although I am happy with my switch to a BB, there are aspects of the iPhone that I miss. This is true of any device (nothing is perfect).

I jailbroke my iPhone to get features that I considered worth the lag - things like status bar notifications. These features are standard on the BB.

I will be selling my iPhone to recoup the cost of the BB (which I got a good deal on), so I haven't really lost much money (other than the original cost of the iPhone, which a year later is a sunk cost).

It's the nature of the ADD/MTV/instant gratification generation. Objectively, 3 seconds is nothing, but the feeling of sitting there waiting for my phone to catch up to me is beyond annoying when you've got multiple real-time conversations going on at once.

The main reason I choose iPhone above all other smart phones is app store. Apple has so many cool and useful apps that no other device can beat. Why having a smart phone with all those capabilities and look at same boring stuff every day. I personally like to browse app store for new stuff. It gives me pleasure and I am never bored with iPhone.

I think it"s just a matter of preference. Had the 2G iPhone on launch day. Got the 3G in Oct. 08, which I sold right before WWDC to save on my upgrade price. In the meantime I've put my sim into a borrowed BB pearl, then bought a used BB curve 8310, and finally spent my 3G money on a BB Bold (off contract:eek:). I thought maybe I was on to something. But one month later I can't take it anymore, I have been in trackball hell! I went to the AT&T store today and ordered my 3GS, I'm going back to where I belong.

I have both (3Gs & BB via Verizon)...For me its the Iphone hands down...You mileage may differ and apparently does...But why the thread....?? ;)

Sounds awesome. Enjoy yourself. Clearly you think the Blackberry is awesome. Nothing anyone can do about that. Well a doctor could prescribe some medication, but probably overkill.

Enjoy your phone. I am not going to debate your reasons, or their validity or how they actually play out in actual usage, as that has been done for over the last two years where people with other phones keep saying x,y,z...

So enjoy your phone. I don't really care to be honest though.
