You say making claims are useless but yet..

There is one right there

when did i ever say making claims is useless. Did i call out any of your other claims. No. Did i call out this claim before you started arguing like a mad man. No. I don't understand what you are saying. Please tell me where in my post did I say making claims are useless.

After seeing your other responses in this thread I'm going to add the following items for you:

  • Friends
  • Soap
  • A girlfriend
  • The common sense God gave a duck

So someone who is debating there side automatically is a stupid dirty person with no friends?

You did, you just edited it, but ok.

Well it's already a phone, but here are things that you might carry around but the iphone already has.

With an iPhone you don't need to carry around nor buy a...
iPod
Calculator
Notepad
Digital Camera
Camcorder
A laptop (for surfing, word processing)
A portable game system
A Puzzle like sudoku or crossword
A checkbook
A personal calendar
A voice recorder
A watch
A compass
A newspaper
Personal Photos
A map or GPS
A Flashlight
A Radio

So besides what I have on my list, what kind of things can a iPhone replace that is something you usually carry around when your walking on the go or in a car.

I think pretty much everyone knows you don't have to carry around a calendar, iPod, watch, photo-album, or notepad with them if you have an iPhone. I mean, how about posting the iPhone's competitive advantages instead of the advantages that almost every piece of electronic equipment has?

I just wanted to have a 'one big list' of what the iphone replaces or almost replaces

I did not say this.

You may not have said it but you basically called someone out as if you have done it in the past and in that statement you pretty much said that other people can type thesis essays on the iPhone that match the efficiency of the laptops capabilities and claimed that the only reason that the replyer can't type these essays is his lack of skills in typography not the machines lack of screen space and a keyboard that matches that of a basic laptop keyboard. And you go on to prove such point by running a test that included a series of words under 4 characters. And you believed that this test somehow proved your point. I'm sorry but just admit that you can't use the iphone as a replacement for a laptop's word processing capabilities or come up with a sound argument that supports yor claims. Thank you

word processing could also be defined as "quick note taking". in this case the op is right ;)

I average 70 on my iphone

A "word" in WPM is defined as 5 characters which for 70 WPM calculates out to 350 characters per minute (usually alpha numeric) or ~6 char per second. The app shown in this thread is measuring characters per minute and appears to break words at each space. It is not showing true WPM.

For more information and statistics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Words_per_minute

I see you quoted me claiming that I had said something I didn't, so I hit CTRL+F and typed: "an iPhone is a practical way to write a complex higher education essay" hoping that you actually did find me saying that, but nothing came up. So I skipped reading the rest of the stuff you wrote.

Quick note taking is not the only thing that falls under the criteria of word processing. I guess you may be able to use that argument if the didn't say it replaced the laptop. Meaning you could save money on not buying a laptop. Which is more efficient for note taking and extensive writings than the iPhone. Therefore the iPhone cannot be a complete substitute for these features.
