I'm keeping an ear to the ground for news from Japan and Libya just gets pumped through BBC News.
The BBC is actually quite even handed.
See screen grab - 5 minutes ago.

But not to worry in a few months we'll have the news channels reporting on the Royal Wedding 24/7, blech.
A few months? It is less than 30 days away… Luckily I have planned ahead and we're going someplace where there is no TV. :D

Everyday the news reports in Quebec update us on both Libya and Japan and people saying there's nothing to report on Japan probably just have bad medias.

One of the reactor's containment has been breached in the last few days and the Pacific ocean is now being contaminated. There's plenty to report on, the containment efforts are on the way, but the situation still isn't contained properly.

Libya is the same, we get daily updates and the media is now also covering Syria and the broader Arab regions that are just boiling from everywhere. But we're on the Internet here, if your usual news source isn't providing the coverage you want, just go elsewhere.

I feel for the Lebanon fighters, but the crisis in Japan is much worse and very few news organizations are talking about it. Why?

what does lebanon have to do with libya? but to answer your question, it's the same reason that we had no news whatsoever for a straight week when michael jackson died. every tv station, nothing but MJ. the news stories are not selected based on relevance or importance. they're sensationalist, designed for the rubber-neckers. it's a lot like jerry springer.

If ever there was proof that I wasn't looking into the Royal Wedding :D. Good call on going abroad. Wish I could do the same.

well i live in the united states,

it's obvious that when america feels threaten or see's a rising threat it will be the biggest story of the day

as much as we feel for japan, we don't live in japan:rolleyes:

as do a partial majority of the macrumors members

anything that involves obama, will most likely be shown on mass media:cool: - poli sci 101

No idea why you would feel for Lebanon fighters. There are non in Japan, there are non in Libya, so I don't quite see why you have to mention them.

Whatever happened in Japan, it will all be sorted out. No need to worry. A rich country, with a culture that enables them to work together and sort their problems out.

In Libya, the world has to act or there will be a desaster worse than in Japan. They have a mad dictator there who wouldn't hesitate killing ten times more people than died in Japan to cling to his power. That's what the world has to prevent, and that is why Libya must be in the news.
