Firefox crashes every time MacBook sleeps. Also, there is no Firefox application in the Apple store. This is not user friendly.
Why is this Apple's fault?

I'm a firefox user myself, but the lack of a firefox in the app store is not an apple choice/problem its Firefox. If its crashing, that's on firefox.

Developers have access to the beta and its on them to update their apps

I run Firefox Nightly (the most "bleeding-edge" betas), and have for years. Currently on today's Tahoe beta (26.3 beta 1) and as usual Firefox runs fine without any crashes.

As p33t3r says, it could be an extension. Do a "safe" restart:

Go to about: profiles (without the space, as MacRumors stupidly converts to an emoji otherwise) and click the reboot without add-ons option.

what a great thing to do for someone! BLESS YOU!!

Firefox has many bugs on macOS. I believe that's on the developer, not Apple. For instance, a long-standing bug I experience is that Firefox doesn't respect Spaces (or virtual desktops). I want to keep a Firefox window in Desktop 1 and in Desktop 2. When I swipe on trackpad, Firefox keeps the window from Desktop 1 on top.

I running sequoia no issues with Firefox or opera no extensions on either, for whatever reasons safari is blocked by some sites as having an adblocker when one isn't used, go figure

This is odd. I can have FF windows in multiple spaces so long as I select 'None' in the FF Options Assign-to context menu. Right-click on the FF icon -> Options -> None (last choice under Assign-to)

Firefox ESR 140.6 working fine on macOS 15.7 Sequoia OCLP (15" MacBook Pro 2015)

Firefox (and Firefox focus) is on the App Store for all platforms, except macOS. Don't know why, but I'm guessing that this just because it has always been a manual download, way before the App Store was launched. Firefox works well and can't remember if it ever crashed. I did use Firefox Portable for a few years on the office Windows, as "Exploder" or Edge would always brought the whole system to fail by filling up hidden Windows cache folders.

Personally I'm fine with Safari for most stuff. Firefox is the next browser when some website or webinterface shows problems with Safari. Then there is Brave and Vivaldi. Firefox Focus is nice on iPhone.

Firefox would have to add their browser to the Mac App Store. I’m guessing they are fine with people downloading directly from their website. That’s not Apple being biased though, it’s Firefox’s decision.

Here’s another thread you may find interesting:

I think there are few reasons to put your product on the App Store:
1) although the App Store suggests that it only has valid and safe products, such a guarantee is absent,
2) App Store is a money maker for APPLE and thus a reduction on the maker's profits,
3) the sites that provide downloads of valid 3rd party products are merely universities, fast and reliable.
;JOOP!

I think it's just a case that Mozilla can't be bothered to go through the process. Originally it was because of the extensions and APIs they use which made app store approval tricky (so they thought - they never tried) and now it's just laziness 😁

For the faster release versions, such as Nightly (which, despite the name, often throw updates twice a day!) the app store wouldn't work, but I think it would for the standard version.

Neither Google Chrome nor Microsoft Edge are on the App Store either. Does that make them less "user-friendly"?
