Had a black 2g, 3g, 3gS, 4, white 4S, black 5.

Got the black "grey" 5S. Felt boring and looked the same as the black** 5. Could hardly tell the diff, and spent 812$ on it. Swapped it for gold, couldnt be happier plus resale in 11 months will be higher then black. :D

I'm awaiting my Gold 32GB & will hopefully be delivered any day now.

Reasons for Gold.

I've had the black colour since the first iphone. We eventually got to the iphone 5 , & after reading about the ease of which the black ones marked & scratched , I decided to check them both out first. We'll within seconds of seeing the black & the white iphone 5's , I totally decided to change to the white/chrome. Not just because of the prob with the powder coated black (I'm careful with my phones) , but in my opinion , the new form & looks of the iphone 5 was just sheer beauty & class in the white. I loved it then & 1 year later still love the look just as much.

When the 5s was introduced a few weeks back , the desire to have another black/slate grey was just never there. Yes it looks ok , but in my opinion nothing more than that. I was obviously pleased to see the white/silver back again & then saw the gold.

I knew the white would look class again , & told myself I'd get that one as gold wasn't a colour I never saw myself with. The thing is , I then saw the gold. To me it isn't an in your face gold , more an understated delicate gold. Totally class & premium looking. So for me I felt very comfortable choosing the colour , & having a different colour to what I'm used too was never going to be a problem. I'm not the kind of guy that ever worries what others think when it comes to what I choose to use. We're all different & that's fine. I'm happy & comfortable with my decision & can't wait to get it in my hand.

Cheers

"In a time of great acceptance" lesbians are not referred to as "dykes."

I was using the word dyke in an extremist way just like the poster made the extremist statement saying that guys with gold iPhones are metro. I didn't actually mean for that to be taken in an uneducated or homophobic way. Sorry!

Sorry as well then. I missed the snark.

When the gold rush dies down there are going to be a lot of people standing here wishing they had gotten a normal colored iPhone and not the hideous gold iPhones. There's a reason that people don't wear gold like they used to. It's tacky and looks dated.

I think the real question would be:
Why do so many people who don't have the gold phone hate it so much?

You forgot "In Your Opinion." An opinion millions of people don't share.

Because its BEAUTIFUL!!

I just received mine today and could not be more pleased. Its probably the best looking phone I have ever seen.

Anyone using words such as "tacky" or "hideous" to describe the gold 5S clearly has never seen it in person.

no, actually your space grey(black) looks DATED. Gold is incredibly slick. Don't be jelly bro.

There is no profit...their all the same phone?

We don't all share the same taste in color, some people like for example green and some people don't and if apple just made a green iphone with no other choices of color, they will lose the customers that don't like green.

This thread makes me want a gold Mac Pro. XD Imagine how some people on this site would blow up at the mere suggestion of that.

Exactly

I think the real question would be:

They settled for second best and It gives them justification to pan the gold (no pun intended) that they don't have. Gold is best. Sorry you gray and silverados.

I like Space Gray. But its a difference in opinion. rather someone likes to use different color.totally personal choice.

My colleague has the gold, it's alright. Not my personal favourite out of the lineup tho.

That may be because I'm not all for white handsets.

Had I not unexpectedly fallen in love with the blue 5c I probably would have bought the gold 5s simply because the color is new. I'm personally burnt out on the black/white iphones.
