Iphone X weighs 22 oz more than the Galaxy S8 which has a much higher PPI, a headphone jack, a bigger battery and also wireless charging. Wonder why? Are Samsung engineers smarter?

Update: sorry bad math. 22 grams more. 6.14 oz to 5.36 oz.
1,000 nits brightness vs 625 for Iphone X

1,000 nits brightness is Samsung fudging the capabilities as they always do. I'll try and find the source again, but the brightness at 1,000 nits is only possible with like 7% of the display turned on. The S8 was reported to look slightly but noticeably brighter than the demo X units when put side by side in person, so if a slight increase in brightness is worth an entire ecosystem and operating system change (now you have to manually perform regular maintenance on your phone! awesome!), then so be it - money talks.

Displaymate's test shows that maximum brightness on the slider is 610 nits for the Galaxy S8. To reach anything higher, you must have auto-brightness turned on and the phone will only brighten in certain ambient scenarios and on-screen situations, on its own, for just a minute or two. That's a cool feature, but shows you're not going to be missing much at all.

I have a Sammy S8 plus now. The weight is nearly identical to the iPhone X and it feels considerably lighter than my old 7 plus. I always use a case so the materials are pretty much nulled out as a comparison.

Even if it is heavier, which is only by a slight margin, it will only add to the premium feel of the device. People often complain of a phone being too light and feeling cheap because of it.
Heavier can also mean faster and harder drops too. Paraphrasing "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" quote.

The X closely matches my V20 in weight which can get annoying after awhile at holding. It's why I chose the PS Vita slim over the original OLED one.

The iPhone 5 series was one of the lightest ever and it gets praised the most for its design over the glass-reared and heavier 4 series.

The weight of the iPhone X is one of the main reasons I’m on the fence about buying it. I’d much prefer an iPhone that was as light as a feather. Heck, I even feel like my iPhone 7 is too heavy.

To make you a strong weight lifter, an iPhone saves you the monthly gym subscription you probably don’t pay anyway. 😉

iPhone uses aircraft grade aluminum and the strongest glass ever engineered (billions of dollars spent just on material science R&D just to make this glass). The competition uses tape and bubble gum. Get the picture?

I can't comprehend people who complain that an iPhone is too heavy. This past weak I upgrade from a regular 6 which is one of the lightest models ever to an 8 Plus, the heaviest iPhone ever. The 8+ has never felt uncomfortably heavy in my hand or pocket. It certainly doesn't drag down my pants or cause fatigue when holding as some have claimed.

I think partially people complain about iPhones being too heavy, because their expectations are set way too high. Look how technology has come in the last 10 years and how compact devices are today. There Is so much technology into an iPhone, it's more powerful than a computer 10 years ago and it fits in your pocket. Those are the things sometimes we need to measure against, and not argue over a few ounces.

Not sure why anybody would care about weight anymore. This isn't 2010 and under. Phones aren't heavy. my 100 year old grandma never complained about a holding a phone.
Seriously this is the last thing on my mind to worry about nowadays. Its a none issue and has been for some time.
If they use heavier materials it could be better quality also. Stainless weighs more than aluminum.
We dont know how thick the back glass is in comparison to the stainless body yet. Cant compare things till we know anyway.

People that have fatigue holding a phone, should do push-ups every morning or join a gym.

No.

They have a facial recognition technology and iris scanning, both of which can be fooled by a picture.

They do not have Face ID.

And it’s racist. Remember the pictures of Galaxy phone telling Asian dude to open his eyes lids wider?

I'll be 62 in December and don't do push-ups. The 8 Plus was no more trouble for me to hold than my 7 Plus.
