Honestly, it’s starting to feel less heavy after 1 day. The best thing we can do is to sell our old iPhones as quick as possible so we don’t go back and forth between the weight of the 7 and X. It’ll feel natural eventually .

But the S8 isn’t made of plastic. It’s made of metal and glass.

When I bought the Galaxy S8 back on April I thought it was the best Samsung design ever (and still think it is) that put to shame all iPhone's ever made by Apple (except for the iPhone 4 maybe) That was until iPhone X. I put them side by side and to me the iPhone X just seem like superior build quality. You just tap with your finger on the Galaxy S8 like you would on the table and the sound is almost like hitting a plastic, compare to the sound you get on the iPhone X. Not that it matters, both are great looking devices..... but still!

my guess is, premium materials and components...inside and out...won't be surprised if "lightness" is the selling point of next years X...
which means sourcing cheaper components and dropping the price.

I stopped noticing the weight within 10 minutes of using it. I love the look and feel of it in my hands. One thing I like with heavier phones is that it feels substantial in your hands. Its less likely to slip away, at least that's how I think of it.

Iphone X weighs 22 oz more than the Galaxy S8 which has a much higher PPI, a headphone jack, a bigger battery and also wireless charging. Wonder why? Are Samsung engineers smarter?

Update: sorry bad math. 22 grams more. 6.14 oz to 5.36 oz.
1,000 nits brightness vs 625 for Iphone X

Mainly because stainless steel is more heavy than glass. So that's the 22 grams.

Oh and those Nits numbers don't tell ****, real world testing has confirmed that the X has an almost as bright display as the Note.

Stainless steel is heavier than aluminium, and the X has a larger battery than usual, which is one of the densest components in the design - pretty much as simple as that.

Agreed, definitely like the dense feel of the device when I take it out of my pocket. Makes me more aware of it in my hands and the weight balance is fantastic. One thing is I've dropped my phone twice face first and it sounds LOUD when it falls because of the weight, luckily my Apple silicone case has done its job perfectly.

I have a fix, get an 8+ and slap a case on that sucker and carry that around for 4 days, then get an X, it will feel very light :) (true story)

A much higher ppi with a much worse pentile arrangement.

1000 nits? Yeah, at 1% peak. Sustained, full screen? 400nits vs iPhone’s 600.

Samsung loves the numbers game.

Also, iPhone uses steel.

Exactly! It got a nice grip. But I have to see it feels like using a plus at times, even though it fits in the hand and pocket like a 7 or 8. But that’s because I have to street my thumb around the entire screen.

I might be the only one, but I would have preferred a lighter iPhone X

I don't think I care, but it is very noticeable, and depending on how you carry it I can see that you might really feel that way. The other side of that is that I'm getting battery life that feels more like what I got when I had a 6S Plus (the only Plus model I've ever owned), which is nice.

I had an 8 Plus for about a week and returned it because it was hurting my wrist. I have adjusted to the X, but at first it was also bothering my wrist, though not as much as the 8 Plus. The phones need to be lighter in my opinion.

slightly thicker, glass back, stainless steel border band.

i rather phones be heavier at least i don't feel like it will "fly" out of my hands quicker haha

Ah. Now the ridiculous “disclaimers" make a lot more sense.

Disclaimer: the rules of this forum prevent me from phrasing the above in a way I really want to. Thank you.

The disclaimers were because staff seemed to not understand my sense of humor. I've really toned it down as of late. I don't want to be suspended every week. :D

I suggest you start doing some exercises if a phone’s weight hurts your wrist.
