If there is something higher than a 1st world problem, this issue would classify there.
(1/2 world problem maybe?)
Anyway, I'm not worried. It will be addressed in a software update.
I have a right to complain about 1st world problems if I paid $3,500 for the laptop

I never said you didn't. You can do whatever you want. It's unfortunate that Safari doesn't have ProMotion out of the gate but I'm sure it will be addressed in a software update.
Then stop dismissing legitimate complaints as simply "first world problems", the entire concept of a $2,000 laptop is first world

I'm confused, did Apple every claim "Best Safari yet with ProMotion!" ... I don't recall seeing that anywhere.

Where is this so called "advertised feature" for Safari?

Ah yes, so unless they mentioned every single app, it doesn't support Promotion? Do you realize the iPad supports it? Apple apologists are a different breed

Not only that, your argument sucks since they literally mention scrolling in Safari during the Promotion segment

Completely irrelevant when Safari is one of Apple's most basic stock apps
I agree with you that it's surprising that they don't have it in Safari. It isn't catastrophic, because it's fixable. It's not a hardware issue.

It's not like there's a wealth of ProMotion-enabled browsers out there and Safari is the only one that doesn't have it. If you've owned Apple products long enough, you know how incomplete things are at launch, and how much software needs to change to bring you to an optimized experience. This is no different.

Go return your laptop if you're so angry at the browser. You obviously aren't getting your $2000 worth. ?

Promotion on the iPad worked great at launch, stop apologizing for a multi billion dollar company, also miss me with the "real Apple fans know" nonsense

Just to clarify, this forum and discussion is not about apps. It's about a piece of hardware, the new MacBook Pro.

Not sure why people are so confused between hardware and software. Please go read about the difference if you think they are the same thing, it's useful to know how modern technology works.

Btw - yes, Safari hasn't been updated, but there is nothing misleading or falsely advertised. They never claimed Safari would support ProMotion in the first place.

Btw - please go post here, this is the wrong forum: https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/mac-apps.2/

Nice dodge, keep ignoring the problem that Apple literally lied about Safari in their presentation lol

And yes, they literally did say Safari supports Promotion, 36:20

People are likely referring to this moment, 36 minutes and 20 seconds into the presentation where they specifically show scrolling in Safari to demonstrate Promotion, and scrolling in Safari is one of the things that's broken.

It would take a lot of gymnastics to claim that Apple wasn't advertising Promotion support in Safari here.

Exactly, I think a month from now, the situation will be far better.

Need to withhold judgement on something that is obviously slightly rushed and waiting for updates from developers (including Apple's own appls)

Thank you for speaking some sense among a sea of delusional apologists

My new laptop is fantastic, but it's pathetic that this feature is broken on day one, I'm sure it'll be patched soon enough

Fair point, they are showing Safari in the keynote.

That said, complaining here won't help you. It's only Apple's media agency that monitors this. Maybe try a class action lawsuit?

Well because it is a 1st world problem my friend. ProMotion is brand new on the Mac. You didn't have it until 2 weeks ago. And thanks to the Internet, software developers have a "good enough, patch later" mentality (Google, Adobe, and Microsoft do this too). Usually these things get worked out in a software update. Look, I get it: you spent a lot of money. It should work out of the gate. Disappointing. But is it really crimping your productivity if you can only scroll MacRumors in 60Hz vs. 120Hz for the time being?

If you ask me, the real story here isn't just Apple failing to deliver a key product feature on release, (even though it's sort of alarming that this issue was somehow not discovered or not considered a priority), it's that nearly all of the pre-release media coverage seemed to miss it. Is anyone aware of any media coverage of the laptops that called out this feature as broken? The only one I'm aware of is Jason Snell's sixcolors review, which still sort of undersold it by implying it was an issue where third party apps needed to be just updated.

I'm sure the bugs causing Safari and other browsers to scroll at low framerates will be fixed in time (though I say this still waiting for the promised fixes to ProMotion on the 13 pros...), but the media missteps feel more bizarre to me. Did really none of them notice? If so, it makes it hard to trust them when they talk about display quality in other ways or other products.

Considering I paid $3500 for the laptop, with one component being a 120hz screen, and I do a lot of web browsing in between work, yeah it kinda matters to me

Why are you dismissing an advertised component not working as not important? Literally everything about a $3500 laptop is luxury, that doesn't make said features not working just ignorable since a browser without 120hz is usable

Because as disappointing as it is not working right now, I'm confident it will be addressed by Apple. Just like the issue some are having with the SD card reader which definitely sounds like a software bug.

Crazy how people are justifying Apple not having one of their own/most used apps utilizing ProMotion only to unknowingly claim it will likely get fixed in an update.

Seriously? ProMotion is not new to Apple and regardless of price this would have been an assumption anyone would make yet it's OUR fault for assuming a stock app would work? Additionally, Apple has been a **** show with updates so who knows when or if this gets resolved within the return period. They can't even port iPadOS to the Mini 6 correctly.

Pretty ballsy to tell folks to lower their expectations on what is Apple's most expensive laptops with technology that isn't new to them. Y'all are wild.

on iphones the whole ui isnt 120hz ,its rly not a problem of third party and stuff...idk what that means tbh

What is? The vast majority is not, Safari included. A few thing are broken, like Reachability still being 60hz, but the OS overall is fantastically smooth.
ye ? idk the whole os doesnt feel 120hz to me.switching app pages when youre on homescreen for example is like 80-90hz at best .scrolling in settings is 90hz .and so on..
