that android guy is like an annoying christian (not generally though) who knocks your door at 6 am and gives you a church pamphlet, forcing you to join them or you'll burn in hell's flame.

I believe you are referring to a Jehovah's Witness.

This thread is 8 pages now? Is it worth it reading everything?

Nope.

Point being, don't talk about Android phones being much better phones than iPhones, in an iPhone forum. And vice-versa.

There are lots of tech forums for equal discussion!

Doing so provides much entertainment to the opposite forums in question.

Really, I'm just a person who uses whatever gadget suits me the best. The MacBook Air is super thin and OS X is more user friendly, so I use it. The iPad is the only tablet that has any real apps, so I use it. Backlit displays ruin my sleep and Kindle doesn't use one, so I use it. The Galaxy S II supports hardware acceleration meaning it can playback MKVs without lagging like a turtle, so I use it.

That's all there is to it. Being a 'fan' of any commercial company is just stupid.

The iPhone sells well 2nd hand because people can get the phone outside of a contract for less. That's why the OP got probably made money on selling their iPhone 4.

It's not rocket science. I made money selling my iPhone 3GS.

Regarding the specs issue, I don't think we're into the MHz war yet with mobile devices. But we're getting very close. At the moment, specs don't matter too much. Let's be real, we aren't rendering 3D movies or crunching big spreadsheets with mobile phones.

Are we not rendering these in real time? Are we not working with real spreadsheets?

The software is important, but sometimes you just need more raw power. Powerful specs on smartphones and tablets are definitely necessary.

Is there an Infinity Blade comparison for Android? Otherwise I thought Infinity Blade was optimized for iPhone 4. Runs great on mine.

Numbers is for the iPad. Thought we were talking about phones.

I see your point, but I still see the specs war as nothing but spinning wheels. It's not going anywhere yet.

BTW: Did you just move from NZ to Australia?

Oh i see what you did there.
You got 10 pages of discussion about the S2 on that forum, must've been pretty entertaining for those participating!

Gotta admit though, your buddies on that forum are acting like "mindless zombies" themselves.

totally agree! I really like the notification system and customizability of Android phones. That's probably it though. Here's hoping for iOS 5 to have a different UI than the grid-like home screen and a proper notification system!

Old news, man. I already said that myself a few posts up. You won't get anywhere. I haven't broken any forum rules with my posts on MacRumors. In fact, all my replies in this thread have been much more intellectually sound than your troll remarks.

Have fun trying to convince the Mods I'm a troll. I've been here since 2007 and I know how things work here.

P.S. Fixed your link for you.

Tablets and smartphones use the same processors, RAM, storage, GFX, so pretty much everything except the display.

I'm just saying that your iPhone 4 definitely needed its powerful hardware to drive something like Infinity Blades. It won't be able to drive something 'graphically-intensive' in 2012. You will need an iPhone 5 then to do so. Specs are the key here, no?

And yes, I just updated my location. I moved to Aussie for Uni this year.

Oh, how I'm looking forward to WWDC! I just hate the iOS notification system with a passion.

Pretty sure iPhone and iPad have different processors.

Nope, the same. They both use the Apple A4 chip, which is essentially an ARM Cortex-A8 manufactured by Samsung. Both the iPhone 4 and the iPad use the exact same chip, although the iPhone 4's CPU is underclocked to 833 MHz compared to the iPad's 1 GHz.

The stuff you're comparing and debating is mainly important to an 18 year old, this is probably why I'm not getting it.

Eh, what? I don't think I follow your train of thought.

Age is not related to uni attendance.

Btw, OP I agree with you that SGS2 is a better phone, actually considering buying it, I just don't come here for Android related stuff. Sorry, I guess I got a bit unreasonable, but this is an Apple forum.

All good. :) The fact you found my post in the first place (I'm assuming you didn't see my first post) means you go onto XDA. That already shows you have some interest in Android devices.

I know this is an Apple forums, but I thought this thread was warranted because I've used iPhones for such a long time and have owned every iteration. It's not easy for someone like me to jump ship and the SGS2 is a spectacular device for being the first smartphone to capture my attention after the iPhone was made public in 2007.

It's something to think about when you've spent ~$100 on iOS apps, and an Android phone still offers so much more advantages that you want to switch.

Just when I thought this thread was going to die after that troll left, the OP shows up and continues this useless thread.

If someone likes an Android device, then so be it. If someone prefers the iPhone, then so be it... Specs don't matter for about 80% of consumers, so why try and argue which one is better? They're both good in their own ways, and it should be left at that. Android fanboys shouldn't try and shove garbage down the throats of someone who loves the iPhone. This is an iPhone forum, so common sense would say 90% of the posts will be bias towards the iPhone.

Oh and until Android actually fully optimizes the hardware of the device, all that extra 'power' is just a waste. How could you possibly have a phone that STILL lags when the specs are 'so good'. My iPod Touch 2G doesn't even lag and the hardware on that is pretty bad.

...not that I'm complaining. I sold my 32GB iPhone 4 just now to get a Samsung Galaxy S II. I just love how high the iPhone 4 fetches despite the hardware being mediocre, at best.

Seriously, the Galaxy S II beat it in every way. It's got a ARM-v9 1.2GHz Dual-Core Processor, which is better than the A5. It's got 1GB RAM and it decodes 1080p h.264 MKV like butter without the need for conversion. It's thinner. It has a better battery. It has a better camera. Even with all this, it's barely more expensive than a used iPhone 4.

It's a no brainer for me to upgrade when I saw the SGS II. It's the first Android phone that actually appealed to me after using iOS since 2007. I've done a lot of research, and Android is definitely not the immature platform with no apps that many iPhone users still assume. I can't find anything I currently do on my iPhone that I can't do on Android. But vice versa, nope. I can't wirelessly sync my music, can I?

Oh well. I guess it's because of ignorance that my iPhone 4 can fetch such a good price on eBay. The SGS II is going to be my new baby until Steve pulls out the iPhone 5 this September. That thing will have to be really magical for me to switch back now. If the iPhone 5 is just going to run the A5, it's not going to match the SGS II, and with the closed nature of iOS, I hardly think I'll be able to play my anime unconverted.

Well, I'll wait and see.

Beats it in every way, like a higher resolution screen? Get out of here. Don't make definitive statements unless they have some backing.

I actually posted it back on page 4 too, found it while browsing XDA seeing peoples opinion of the SGS2 in the first place. I'm still wondering if giving up my App Store investment is worth it.
