Just when I thought this thread was going to die after that troll left, the OP shows up and continues this useless thread.

Well, sorry I need to sleep! And that troll was pretty bad, I admit.

Oh and until Android actually fully optimizes the hardware of the device, all that extra 'power' is just a waste.

And this fault doesn't apply to Apple? The iPad 2 is perfectly powerful enough to playback 1080p h.264, but it doesn't. Why is VLC so bad on the iPhone? It's Apple that doesn't allow hardware acceleration - that they don't provide the APIs. That's a lot worse than Google if you ask me.

Also, Android only slows when you have the layers other manufacturers put on it. Stock Android never lags.

How could you possibly have a phone that STILL lags when the specs are 'so good'.

Because it doesn't lag.

Beats it in every way, like a higher resolution screen? Get out of here. Don't make definitive statements unless they have some backing.

Super AMOLED+. That is all.

OP, thank you proving iApples wrong again. He idolizes Apple, his own username says Apple....weird.

Anyways, the new Android phone is awesome. I really hope the iP5 or iOS5 delivers.

Oh, no doubt I'm looking forward to WWDC just as much as you are and that iPhone 5 launch sometime after that. As previously mentioned, one of the things I'd love to see is a new notifications system.

But as long as they don't release APIs for hardware acceleration, the iPhone 5 is just not going to cut it for me. I need to play my MKVs.

Agreed. Honestly, I love my iPhone 4....love the fact ANYTHING apple has great resale value (JUST sold my iPhone 3G for 200$ on eBay) but Im getting bored of it.

I love the swype texting on Android. I LOVE the notification systems. But I als love my phones display, how smooth the texting it, and the way it feels without a case.

Ill just get both.

It's quite amazing really when you consider that a 2008 phone can sell for just as much as a 2010 Samsung Focus running Windows Phone 7.

You won't miss the Retina Display. I was afraid that the Galaxy S II's screen will look bad because I have spent months with an iPhone 4. It didn't. The Super AMOLED+ more than makes up for the lost pixels.

If I were as rich as you, I'd have both phones, but no, my budget won't allow that. At least I still have an iPad, so there's still an iOS device in my house. :D

Haha, I'm not rich. But Im gonna wait until next month after WWDC to see whats happening. If it does not interest me, I'll buy the Samsung Galaxy 2 phone out of contract. :D

thats just it. we aren't asking you. you came here screaming your "opinion" from the top of our mountain.

we all agree. your phone has better specs. but we still like the iphone better because we are interested in the package as a whole.

whether it is because of our investment in the platform, or because we are familiar with the OS and dont want to learn another. or maybe it is because of the customer service that is available if something goes wrong. That is a big deal for me. who cares about a kick a** device if when something happens you have a hassle and to get it fixed and weeks without a phone. I am not saying that is how samsung is, I am just saying that I know that apple is not like that and I dont care to test out another company and take that chance.

so you like your phone, good for you. we like ours. also, you should be glad that apple has such a huge market share. If it was not for apples hardware being so popular the rest of these companies would of had no incentive to copy their work and then improve upon it.

Every post I see of yours... iApples this... iApples that. If you honestly have nothing good to say, then keep it quiet. If I remember correctly, the dude blocked you like two months ago when you both had a 2 page useless conversation. (Which was the biggest waste of time after I read both your useless comments) If he can't see your posts, stop talking about him.

iApples is actually not wrong, so I'm not even sure what you are talking about. Android is known for having fragmentation, and all Android devices have it. And when he says 'Android' I'm sure he's talking about ALL their devices. Not just one. If you can prove that every single Android device does not have fragmentation issues, then you are correct. Until then, he's correct.

Super AMOLED+. That is all.

So instead of being able to see your screen you want to go blind? Fair enough.

I understand the argument here that OLED is better than LED backlighting, and I agree it has some fantastic colors but after seeing a retina display I can't stand the quality of other screens.

Did you have an iPhone 4 before or a 3GS?

Just remembered your first post, so I know IP4. I do appreciate phones such as the galaxy s2 because it makes Apple realize they need to continue their own innovations. "Microsoft is always two years away from failure" Bill Gates and we all know this applies to any technology company now days. Meaning if Apple doesn't keep up with companies like samsung they will perish. But they will so I'm not worried.

People want an iPhone because it's an iPhone. They want it because it's pushed on them by Sales Reps in stores. Or they want it because it's the route of least resistance.

The typical consumer doesn't know what a Samsung Galaxy II is, because they don't care.

The Apple logo and universal chitter chatter about the phone is key. No other phone is in the national news so much, no other phone is talked about by everyone, no other phone has the Apple logo on it.

--> This comes from someone who has had all the iPhones, and will rush out to get the next one...

I posted a thread that actually helped people and here he comes in and says that I need to grow up. iApples is already making assumptions that the Samsung Galaxy 2 will lag, ect when he has not even tried it yet. Why don't you block me too. I find it immature. He blocked me because I CALLED him out because of him attacking me in a thread that wasn't about him.

You're making an assumption that he hasn't used it. How do you know he hasn't? Maybe he has and he's seen the fragmentation issues with it. They do exist, and there are videos about it on YouTube. That's enough proof for me. And no, I haven't used the device.

Anyways, immature or not, you need to let it go. You're acting like that creepy ex girlfriend that never goes away. He can't see your posts, so I don't get why you bother talking about him. Just block him and move on with your life.

I mention him 2 times after he blocks me and I get creepy ex girlfriend status? The only times I ever mentioned him was when he was called out for being dead wrong. And a few pages back he said the only Android phone he ever used was the original Samsung Galaxy.

Just make sure you don't argue with him or he will block you too. Honestly, I have about 10 plus messages from people who can't stand him because they too called him out over his deep love for Apple.

Anyways I'm done talking about him.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

There are a lot of iOS user that hate android devices and vise versa, just like pc vs mac debate, same way, just because one device is better, not everyone is just going run out and get it.

All good. :) The fact you found my post in the first place (I'm assuming you didn't see my first post) means you go onto XDA. That already shows you have some interest in Android devices.

I know this is an Apple forums, but I thought this thread was warranted because I've used iPhones for such a long time and have owned every iteration. It's not easy for someone like me to jump ship and the SGS2 is a spectacular device for being the first smartphone to capture my attention after the iPhone was made public in 2007.

It's something to think about when you've spent ~$100 on iOS apps, and an Android phone still offers so much more advantages that you want to switch.

Strange. Reading your signature we have identical products except I returned my SGSII after 25 days.

Ha I cant even read that XDA thread... "I dont use apple because all of the mindless people, fake perception of class, etc..." Thats mature  I dont use a perfectly fine product because other people use it that I dont like!

Well, I dont use Windows because a bunch of mindless 10 year olds in elementary schools use it!

Great logic eh?

I just bought a Vz iPhone4 (was out of contract). Wanted to wait for iP5, but who knows when that will be available. So I pulled the trigger and if I really need an iP5, I'll sell the 4 and pay retail for 5.
BTW, I bought the iP4 because it's more simplistic to use for older folks (50's) like me. I am very happy with it, although the home button needs two hits at times, which can be annoying.

@ OP:

You Android guys seem to only talk about hardware specs and nothing else. Take a leson from Nintendo and Sony: The DS line is less powerful than the PSP and the Wii is even less powered compared to the PS3. Yet Nintendo beat Sony by a large margin sales wise.

The Galaxy x whathever can have all the processing power in the world. Yet real life people (not internet nerds and trolls) care more about a good looking, stable, and appealing OS and nice design. The average buyer does not even read technical specs, they go to the store and use different phones then decide. Plus the games and apps. People don't care about that power if they can't have their favorite games on it. Where is SFIV, Infinity Blade, etc.?

Since I like using cars as example: I can buy a huge tunned up 600+hp muscle car complete with removed AC and backseats to make it faster. But My small sports coupe takes me everywhere, is comfortable, easy to drive and looks great!

IMHO the reason is pretty simple:

1) Apple has the brand cachet and (generally speaking) more stand-out designs for its devices. The iPhone 4 design is still very well received by the general public.

2) If you prefer iOS over Android it doesn't matter how much hardware you throw in there. There are a ton of substitutes for the Samsung phone as there are numerous other Android phones. Apple is the only one with iOS so it can command premium.

Plus this is a deja-vu. I remember the exactly same argument, almost word-for-word, being used for the EVO 4G and the Galaxy S, as with the Nexus One. And the identical argument was also used for the iPad 1 vs the Xoom. The list goes on and on.

Apple can command the premium because they have successfully differentiated their products by controlling both hardware and software as well as the unique design. If Samsung tries charge that much premium for the Galaxy S, the consumers will likely just buy another Android phone instead of paying that much bucks for the Samsung.
