Why no Apple cover for iPhone XR?

It is curious. When was the last time Apple released a phone without day one availability of first party cases? Of course, they could be coming before they are actually released.

I don't like 3rd party covers. They looks something strange.
I love Apple covers instead, because they look as integral part of the device.

Plenty of companies make quality cases that match Apple's.

They should be the best for what they cost, but I usually buy 3rd party cases on Amazon for like $10 and they serve me just as well.

To be honest I’ve come across many cases as good or better then Apple’s at a fraction of the cost.

i thought that silicone cannot be transparent, so i assumed apple might use some other material like TPU which is cheaper. but i did a quick search and found out that silicone can be transparent too.

I bought a 3rd party XR case from a well respected case manufacturer, via amazon, and it says “iPhone 9” on the packaging!!

I do wonder whether there was a last minute rebrand...

I bought the Incipio DualPro, Incipio NGP and and some Platinum brand wood case from Best Buy. Even without a phone in them I can tell I'm not going to like them as much as the leather Apple cases. I'll be really disappointed if they don't release any for this phone.

It is a rather odd omission for a phone meant to be the volume leader. Margins on cases and other accessories are extraordinarily high. Weird that Apple would leave the $ on the table. Unlike them.

I wrote to apple and asked them about the cases. But no one answers.

Thats Not a Good sign. Maybe we will get no originals....

I would be willing to bet that Apple will have a few different cases for the new Xr. They are just running a bit behind.

It would be the first time Apple did not offer cases and I can not believe that as many Xr units they will sell, that they would not have cases soon.

There is NO giant conspiracy here, Apple is known for it's marketing and the delay will end soon.
