Well, I brought that up because while the Note may not be their best seller, the S9/+ being their bread and butter definitely competes with the iPhone in sales, swapping spots here and there depending on the month.

Well, Steve Jobs opinion aside, I can see the 11 Plus having full Apple Pencil support, possibly with a new Pencil designed specifically for it, with the aim to directly take on the Note 9.
Battle of the giant power house phablets indeed..
I can imagine Apple charging £79 for the stylus and then bringing out a case that you have to buy extra for the iPhone to hold it rather than it fitting neatly into the iPhone lol.Not quite. The difference being the Note 9 has a built in S-Pen, which is included in the purchase. If Apple offers Apple Pencil support for the 6.5 iPhone X, that would be optional for a purchase. Those Are two major differences right there if that rumor proves to be true about the Apple Pencil support for the iPhone X Plus.

That defeats the purpose of the Pencil if it can’t be stored inside the phone. People will lose the pencil if there is no inbuilt storage. Not quite. There’s quite a few people where I work that use iPads with an Apple Pencil but they tend to carry both in a pouch as an iPad is a big item anyway. I can’t imagine carrying an iPhone and Apple Pencil in a pocket as it’s cumbersome, lends itself to getting damaged and is quite impractical, not to mention risky for getting lost. Apple will have to come up with a better idea than having both as separates if they want to market it against Samsung’s Note or it’ll be laughable IMO.Thats an assumption you’re speaking for everyone, when Thats not situation for everyone. People can be complacent, but take responsibility for your property if you lose something. It’s no different with the Apple Pencil being separate from the iPad.
No one knows because only Samsung has attempted it.

People lose their airpods and those have a case. Some people are just more prone to loosing things than others. My husband has a note 8 and he’s always saying he can’t find his S pen. He hasn’t lost it yet but he takes it out, uses it and then gets up and leaves the pen, whether that’s in his car, on the floor, on the sofa.Thats an assumption you’re speaking for everyone, when Thats not situation for everyone. I'm not sure if it's "outdated" or simply that they can't trademark "stylus".I think we are splitting hairs. The word stylus is so dated, not even Samsung uses that word any longer. Calling it a pencil or an s-pen doesn't really change the meaning of what it does, does it?

He has the alert on but he still manages to misplace it all the time. But if I remember correctly you can set your a Note to alert you if you separate the pen from it too far. I suggest he sets that on.
It’s also why we have find my AirPod.
I did jokingly say a few posts up in response to you I can imagine Apple implementing a Pencil with an emphasis on charging the consumer the maximum possible for the privilege.Actually, there are different cases that the Apple Pencil can attach directly to the iPad case were somebody wouldn’t lose it, so that’s really not much concern here to lose it for the iPad. The iPad forum has multitude examples of this.
If Apple implements a smaller Apple Pencil, perhaps they may offer a case that that you could attach the Pencil to, similar that what iPad cases offers.
Indeed like a lot of topics on a rumour based internet discussion forum. For one, we don’t know if this rumor is even accurate about Apple Pencil support for the 6.5 iPhone X. Also, I think you’re being a bit dismissive about the Apple Pencil being we don’t know it’s capabilities what Apple has in store yet (If at all for the iPhone). And let’s remember, it’s an optional accessory to the iPhone, it’s not something that would be actually built-in or included similarly to what the S Pen is. I don’t know Apple will venture to including an Apple Pencil built into the iPhone.
Earlier in the year I had to dash out of work to Curry’s PC World to buy an Apple Pencil for our company owner as he’d lost his somewhere on his flight over from the Netherlands. During the meeting he told me he’d lost 5 in the 12 months prior and they are £99 a pop!People lose their airpods and those have a case. Some people are just more prone to loosing things than others. Because what other choice does Samsung have? Right now they don't have any phone that competes in terms of sales with the iPhone. They sold 10M Note 8's in all of 2017. The iPhone sells that many in 2 weeks. The Note barely sells.
I've familiar with both of you around this forum, so I don't expect to change your opinion, but the Note is a niche product line geared towards a very specific user group. While it seems like both of you tend to understand that, bringing up its sales and especially comparing it to iPhone sales is laughable at best. Samsung isn't out here trying to sell millions upon millions of Notes. Their focus on competing with iPhone is on the Galaxy S line. Samsung has found a space in the niche market that is the Note series. Insinuating it's a failure when it's garnered a loyal user base (it is in it's 8th generation after all) because "it can't compete with iPhone" is ignorant at best. They actually didn’t didn’t sell that many note 8. The 10 million was a number being thrown around by counter point research, don’t think Samsung actually achieved it in 2017 or 2018.
Note 9 pre order sales is reported to be higher than the Galaxy s9 but lower than the note 8, don’t think that the note 9 going to do any better.

I also don't think Samsung users, specifically Note users, are as obsessed with upgrading to the latest and greatest offering every year as Apple fans can be, which I do not mean to be a negative for the record.

When Jobs said he was against stylus with the iPhone all those years ago, he was referring to using one as the PRIMARY input device which was common in 2007 but now they’re simply an option to have
Also, Apple don’t consider what Jobs would have done as much as you might think. Remember Jobs told Tim Cook just before he died, “don’t do what I would have done, do what’s right”

I don’t agree.
The note has become a niche product line after the explosive note 7 decimated the brand.
At its peak the note line was selling more than this years galaxy s9. Are you saying the galaxy S series is niche as well?
You can laugh when we compare sales. But both devices retail for the same amount, hence they are comparable. iPhones just sell more at the same price. Samsung fans are dumbfounded to the reasons why, usually because they lambaste the very features that drive iPhone sales.
That’s actually exactly what they are trying to do.
Failing at it. But trying.
Sure....except Samsung new note 9 ad, comparing it with the iPhone.
Yeah some Samsung users upgrade twice a year, once to the new s+ and then to the note.
Most don’t because they don’t feel it’s justified, which is the point of sales.
I’m sure if Apple offered all the discounts and promotions Samsung offers with their note 9, more Apple users will upgrade.

Imagine Apple giving away a tv with every iPhone.
That would be great.
