My Air 2 has a white bezel, the first non-black device I've owned, and I find I really like it. Just a personal preference, nothing deeper than that.

This sort of occurred to me at the Apple Store today when I was returning some stuff today..

I sauntered over to the 5k 27" iMac's and it for some reason occurred to me that the huge beautiful P3 display has a black bezel.

Do we think that's the best/intended way to have the framing of a display?

I've been really torn on the iPads (and phones actually) about the white fronts. I love the colors for the sides and back, but it really feels "off" with the white fronts. You see the digitizer borders and the content feels a bit recessed into the device vs the white bezel, etc..

When the bezels are black, like on that iMac, it's simply amazing how the device literally disappears (even the iMac) and you have just the interface perfectly framed and almost "floating".

Does anyone else feel this way?
Is this why Space Gray is so popular? (only one w/ black bezels)

Also - I was just recollecting that didn't all the iPhone 5c's also have black bezels like the iPod Touches? Those new iPod touches are so cool looking I might add. I don't understand why the other iOS devices can't have much richer color options. They look sensational!

I think it should be at least optionally a black bezel on any color device.

While I don't mind the white bezel I wish they made gold back with black bezels. Black and gold has always been a cool color combo to me.

Doesn't the True Tone clash with the stark white of the bezel? Next is True Tone bezels for the most authentic experience!

I go back and forth between white and black on my iPhone and iPads. I think I rather the white on the smaller devices looks cleaner. However for my 12.9 Pro I had to have black. Also I don't care to use my wife's MB Air because the screen has the silver bezel where as my MBP has black. I don't think one is better all the time, but for me iPad and iPhone white, 12.9 Pro Black and of course my MacBook Pro.

However, there is something about the white that is very old school apple, my iMac has white bezel, granted it is old (1st generation Intel chip in an iMac)

It's all subjective at the end of the day and personal preferences. Personally I don't find the white bezels distracting and if any thing it makes the actual display stand out more. I have had black iPhones and iPads before but for a long time now I have stuck with the white ones. I don't think I would ever go back to the black/space grey ones unless Apple decided only to make them available in the future. However I very much doubt it will happen. Also saying they white is only for girls is just plain ridiculous and not true in the least. Colours aren't gender specific.

I have a white Iphone6 and like the white bezel. I was all set to upgrade my black ipad4 to a white pro last week, however, I was reading in bed at night with the lights off and realized that the black frame disappears in the dark, whereas a white one would stick out like a sore thumb. It's not something I had ever really payed attention to in all the years I've been using an iPad. The following day, I went ahead and ordered the black pro. It seems trivial, but had I got the white one, I think I would have been kicking myself the first time I was reading in the dark.

Reading in the dark you don't see the white frame either, it's not illuminated and as the display is the light source it's not reflecting on the bezel

The reason that most displays come with a black boarder is because it helps wth contrast. Colors look richer with a black boarder while a white boarder will make the colors look a little washed out. I have both a gold and space gray 12.9" iPad Pro (you know, the real iPad Pro) and when I put them side by side the difference is very noticeable!

My white iPad Pro doesn't get used at all. I'm going to sell it and keep the black one. I would prefer a gold with the black front but you know how Apple decides what we want so I guess I'll always have a space gray iPhone and iPad.

Apple is retarded....Space grey should be the one with white bezel, every other color should have black bezel...It really makes no sense to me

I like space gray and the black bezel. I want to see just the screen, not the bezel then using my iPad. As someone else already mentioned, I think the True Tone feature would look strange with the stark white bezel at times.

White bezels are for girls.
This is as ignorant as saying black is for boys. Plenty of girls like black and plenty of guys like white.

I, for one, much prefer white/silver devices. I have a silver iPhone 5s, iPad Air 2, and Galaxy S7 Edge, as well as a white Moto X.

Yes, i hate white bezels. The display, when inactive, is BLACK. This is the exactly the reason that i go space grey, black, etc.

Well writing this on a white 6 plus, I would probably say I still lean towards black bezels. I had original, 3GS, 4, and 5 in black. I had the 4s, and now my 6 plus in white. I don't really find the white bezels distracting so much but I do see where black makes sense. I like both and that's why I sort of go back and forth. Where the white/silver looks classy I think the black/space grey looks sleek. I guess it's really which you'd prefer from an aesthetic preference more than anything. I am finding that I think I like how the black hides the camera and proximity sensors more than any other factor. So I'll likely go back to black whenever I upgrade next. But im sort of glad they offer both, black glass slates for every single device and phone everyone owns is sort of boring. I like the variety.

Depends on what you're doing on it.

If you're doing a lot of watching videos, looking at/editing photos then black is better.

If you're doing a lot of web surfing/reading then I think white is better.

Both my iPhone and my iPad have white bezels. I actually prefer the white bezels a lot more; I find black bezels to be a bigger distraction because iOS is predominantly white. And of course, less visible fingerprints.
Also, regarding the white border/black pixels thing, when the bezels are black I find the black pixels to be more jarring and it looks more like an imperfection due to technological constrains with screen contrast.

I don't think of the 5K iMac / MacBook Pro having black bezels as Apple conceding that black bezels are better. It seems as simple as in that particular design and colour scheme white does not go as well with say, the MBP keyboard, etc.

You get black so you can enjoy staring at your iPad with the screen off? Coincidentally, I go with white because when the display is on, iOS 7+ and Android 5+ both match white bezels better, IMO.

I agree with this. However, I don't find white bezels distracting at all when watching videos, though I still admit black would be better for this. But for web surfing and reading, white does seem better.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was some sort of snap on black bezel attachment for those times when you would prefer a black front?

Don't be so stupid.

I have all three size iPads and an iPhone and prefer white bezels, always
have done since the first iPad was launched.

Mini, 9.7, 12.9, 6S+, 6 all have white bezels.

I like the white more so.

The main reason the switch from the black to white bezel was due to carelessness on my behalf.

While working on the prop on my jetski I place the black bezel iPad on the back platform above the prop area.
The task ended up taking longer than planned and me having to rush to ensure we weren't late for an engagement.
In my haste I apparently forgot the iPad was on the black cover of the jetski.
It rained that night and it didn't survive.

The white bezel it easier to find.

The white bezel seems to make the screen appear bluer.

The next 12.9 model will have a black bezel but the iPhone 7 will be white.
