Why offer white bezels?

You get black so you can enjoy staring at your iPad with the screen off? Coincidentally, I go with white because when the display is on, iOS 7+ and Android 5+ both match white bezels better, IMO.

This. I couldn't care less about the Screen/Bezels-match when the screen is off. Because when it's on, white bezels are much better for Safari briwsing etc. For video and movies black bezels are better, though.

As you can see by my devices in my signature I swap between white front and black front every time I upgrade a product. (ignore Apple Watch..)

I think white looks better and brings out some colors, but black frames the image better. Take you pick

I usually get the black bezel for iPads but I change it up on my phones. I really wish they had the option of some of the other back colors with the black bezel. Maybe they will start making some other colors with the black. I could see a nice deep bronze looking nice, or a metallic red back. They give too much love to the white.

I'm a black bezel type of person, I'd love to see a gold/black bezel option - disappointing how if you want black bezels you're limited to one colour, even if white is the 'typical' Apple colour.

That said it's not a deal breaker, Space Grey is a lovely colour for tech.

I'm a black bezel buyer. I think the white bezel would be far more appealing if there wasn't the black border between the screen and the bezel. Then webpages etc would just blend into the background. As it is now, the black line would drive me nuts. With my black devices I didn't even know the line was there until I looked at a store display unit. Very distracting to me!

I used to prefer black, but my last several devices have been silver and gold with the white bezels. One of my favorite design elements that the white devices have is the ring of color around the home button. It's a very small detail, but I love how that detail plus the color on the back contrasts with the bezel. The black devices look bland in comparison since the front is all solid black. I've never thought the white bezel was distracting for either reading or videos, so that's not an issue for me.
