Whether you like this one or not, I say it's better than when they named three different OS X releases after the same animal (Puma, Panther, and Mountain Lion).
The Snow Leopard was cool though. Finely tuned!

Ventura is not even famous/popular in Southern California where it's located and they named an OS after it? Really??
Apple can call their OS, whatever garbage name they want to. Most people will not care. I personally also do not care.
Just Apple being Apple.

The "about this Mac" page no longer shoves the OS name in big text in your face any more. So really not a big deal.

> It would be hard to name [a] song that captures post-hippie California dreaming better than the massive hit “Ventura Highway” from this 1972 album. The tune’s breezy folk-pop frames a conversation between an old man and a boy who dreams of leaving his Southern state for sunny California, where nights are “stronger than moonshine.”

Maybe one of the old farts at Apple likes the 1972 hit by America called "Ventura Highway". That was the teenage era for people like Jobs and Woz, and me too because I’m also old. That song has been on radio stations for 50 years now, so it is still popular in some circles.

I doubt naming it Ventura has anything to do with an automobile or their highway. Why did they name the previous MacOS Monterey, well it’s a nice area to visit, there are many things to do, good food, fantastic seascapes. Is Ventura really similar in some ways yes. Previously you had Catalina a channel island, and Mavericks a notable coastline surfing area. So it’s likely about unique places along the California coastline as is Big Sur.

That song was the first thing that came to mind when I read the name.

I’m just getting tired of the California naming conventions. All of us who don’t live there sometimes get tired of it being the only state ever referenced in popular media. It gets old. I liked the cat names from before way better. Maybe do galaxy and space stuff next idk jus let’s move on okay??? K

because it's a cool name. you can't argue with that (at least in my opinion)

I'm an Australian who has never set foot in CA, yet I knew of Ventura because a favourite band of mine released a DVD 'Live at the Ventura Theatre'. Obviously not representative of the average person though!
