I think macOS codenames will start to use names of movie villains.

This will be the macOS Predator kernel panic screen

Think it would help if they used a photo for the background or wallpaper like they had in Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur ect.... I'm not a fan of cartoonish looking wallpaper that seems to be the recent trend form Apple. I thought macOS was series of California places with geographical significance. Perhaps is would help if they used actual photo's of the beaches or landscape so those not familiar could see the connection?

Might as well name it MacOS Barstow. Ventura brings about non-positive connotation. At least name it MacOS Despacito since it relates to music and makes you feel like dancing.

As MacOS 11 is still a bit shoogly and MacOS 12 is not 'Done' yet the whole thing does look a bit daft, unless,
like me you "Get your rocks off" upgrading to beta versions where nothing works properly . . .

Don't care much about the name, but miss the photo wallpaper. Not a fan of the abstract trend since Big Sur.

I like the name, plus it makes me think of Ace Ventura - love them two films!

I also like how Apple keep giving macOS new names, something they have never done for anything else.

That also said that Volkswagens's a major failure in global share. It has no place in Asia where owns 70% of global population as of today. And Apple has been fading slowly after Steve's dead. In fact, they have no new innovated product for a decade already. They are just burning legacy left by Steve in the past decade. Poor Apple guys in California assigning wrong name to MacOS who think they did good job.... just silly. They are just moronic apple employee.
They are the biggest and most profitable car company in the world. For quite some time too. They are not a failure by any stretch of the imagination.

Some names seem to resonate with customers and some not. Over 20 years ago Hewlett Packard released a new range of large servers with the codename "Half Dome" in reference to the famous mountain. The problem was that customers kept asking when "Full Dome" was going to be released. In the end the name was changed to "Superdome".

I wonder how many folks were unaware that 'El Capitan' happened to be the big mountain on their desktop wallpaper..
(which coincidentally is right next to Half Dome heh)

The macOS is traveling south along the Pacific coast line. Maybe the next OS name will be Malibu.

They named a model of a Pontiac Ventura - Why not an OS:eek: And don't forget Ace Ventura:cool:

Ventura is not even famous/popular in Southern California where it's located and they named an OS after it? Really??
Running out of names? Or maybe they're not so concerned about how famous/popular it is since they don't want to recycle names. It's just a name...doesn't sound like they're attached to the idea of naming codebase as extremely famous/popular places. They just need names at this point.

yeah, but that name is officially (forever) on the map now.. heck, we're still talking about stupid snow leopards for christ sake and none of us knew of its existence before apple decided to be cute with their codenames!

Well, just to set the record straight. I lived in Santa Barbara for 27 years starting in 1973. Shouldn't have left, but that's another story. In my time there I went to Ventura many many times. It's located on the coast and has many lovely beaches, many upscale hotels and fine restaurants, a large mall and is a popular destination. Ventura as well as being a city is located in Ventura county. Ventura county is located north of Los Angles county and south of Santa Barbara county.
