I’ve said it before as others are saying here. Nobody actually knows and Apple will never tell us. Absolutely no point getting upset about numbers on the internet that won’t ever relate the truth.
And so what do we say about the opposite? The people who seem to have a significant amount of their identity wrapped around in chasing down the Negative Nancys as if it were God's Work?
I'm one of them. My concern isn't about wanting Apple to fail; it's about the negative impact of such technology on real-life interactions. AVP represents a Wall-E future where we're extremely isolated by our devices.
I recognize that Apple has the capability to make this product a success. Trouble is, success here is akin to that of an opium den. I understand that this technological shift might be inevitable, I can't help but feel a sense of loss for the simplicity of experiencing the world directly, without a digital intermediary.
My take is, tech companies must always be Crossing the Chasm, and where there is technological innovation there just needs to be the marketing prowess to sell it to the masses.
Everything about AVP is simply gross, the dad looking at his children’s birthday is astonishingly dystopian. All dressed up and presented as something we should want. Apple is the greatest marketing company in history, I don’t think they’re going to lose.
So yeah, I’m rooting for it to fail, but I’m not delusional enough to think it actually will.
Sure, folks are returning it, but it doesn’t seem to be That many (comparatively) that does.

Why Some of Apple’s Biggest Fans Are Returning Their Vision Pros
The Apple Vision Pro has now been available for two weeks — and some of Apple’s most dedicated customers are returning the device to get back their $3,500. Also: Apple’s longest-serving product designer retires, and the company is making headway on its generative AI push.www.bloomberg.com
Apple isn’t commenting on the Vision Pro’s return rate, but data from sources at retail stores suggests that it’s likely somewhere between average and above average compared with other products — depending on the location. Some smaller stores are seeing one or two returns per day, but larger locations have seen as many as over eight take-backs in a single day.
Obviously, these aren’t large numbers, and there are stores that have had days with just one or zero returns. This stems partly from the fact that the Vision Pro is a low-volume product — something Apple expected from the start. And none of this is a sign of a crisis.
Oh ya that must be it. Apple is so perfect and has never done anything to upset the user base.I've found that the vast majority of people who spend time here are older now, a little out of touch, and basically just live their lives hating on Apple, whereas the people in the Apple subreddit... actually like Apple.
Vision Pro is going to be just fine.
Sounds delusional to me to blame something on technology, when it’s human nature. Technology has always impacted the humans. For most part for better. If luddites had their way, we would be stuck in medieval age. Every action/tool does some good and some bad. Look at food and water, too little, it harms, little more, it harms too.I'm one of them. Nothing is qualifying either poll as being actual vision pro owners. But if you must ask, I'd say Reddit is more likely to have a bunch of nonsense votes from people who don't even know what it is.Our returning poll is like 50% returning rate.. It is a disaster for Apple, and very negative for XR industry…
Reddit poll shows about 20% returning rate…
All with about 200 votes.
Why is it so different?

It’s amazing how much you people go out of your way to make sure Apple is seems as the perfect hero. The “older “ people have been using these products a lot longer than most of you and have gone through more transitions and products than you. Maybe when you can see Apple objectively and not as a cult you will understand.
It couldn’t possibly be a product problem. Must be everyone not drinking the Kool-aid that’s the problem.
for me.
over the last 3 or 4 years the American dream of owning a house and having a good job has become unattainable ?? so people cant spare $3500 for a toy? there are more important expenses to pay for.
The admins on this Reddit are wack. They ban people for having opinions
What does blowing the minds mean? Especially for a Gen 1 product. Be it Apple Watch, iPad and to an extent iPhone, all had some big limitations at the launch. We are a different demographic. We are used to Apple blowing our minds, that's why we hang out here. Reddit likely contains people who had different expectations and a different relationship with technology. They are likely enjoying the device for its novelty and the fun of being part of this moment.
I returned because I wasn't happy with it. I'm not sure I would've kept it even at a $1000 price. There was ZERO apple magic in this product for me. For other people, either those who don't know what that is or have limited experience with VR, I'm sure they were less irritated about the state and capabilities of this gen 1.

The polls on this website and reddit (or the internet in general) are completely useless and nobody should use them to make/support any claims, ok? Selection bias, sampling bias, vote brigading, etc.THEN Why is Reddit AVP forum user so different? What I am trying to figure out is whether XR industry is failing… because XR industry has been struggling for so many years and waited for so many year for Apple product to turn things around… if even Apple AVP is failing, then where is the hope?
