I am totally confused the major hype for the new iPhone X, I just don't get it. It's nothing new at all to really be excited about. And I am super smartphone nerd, total gadget geek.

Because it's running the same old boring iOS, sure the iPhone 8 will be all new tech, catching up to the looks and bezel less display Android phones have had for a year already. But at the end of the day, the fancy new phone wears off quickly, and your left with the OS you use day in, and day out 24/7, and iOS 11 is just like lame boring, locked down iOS 10, which was just like old iOS 9, which was like lame iOS 8, and the Fischer Price toy iOS 7 which started it all.

Who gives two ****s about the new design of the iPhone X, when it's running the same iOS still from iOS 7 basically ? I'd be way more excited and pumped if the new phone was just the iPhone 8 Plus, but with a totally revamped major revision to iOS. That would be breaking news and truly jaw dropping. But right now, this X is basically a Galaxy S8 running iOS. Yawn :( Once the shiny new toy feeling wears off, it will feel just like the iPhone 7, and iPhone 6S, and iPhone 6, etc...Nothing new at all really here.

To be honest, I fail to see the big excitement for the iPhone X, What's the big deal here ? My point being the OS in it, is the same thing we've seen for years, nothing new here, just old iOS, nothing new. Sure the phone itself is better FINALLY, but that's it.

Thing is I LOVE the iPhone, a Jailbreaked 7 Plus is the best smartphone IMO right now. But only JB iPhone's do it for me, otherwise Nexus / Pixel all the way.

Then why even bother posting in iPhone section? It just sounds like borderline trolling, enjoy your Android it’s so much more fun.
Just by looking at your ownership of smartphone you have short attention span. If you want fun go play xbox or find a more engaging hobby. Most people don’t care about customizing to endless crap like jailbreak or Android would offer. I just want a simple stable secured smartphone platform and that to me is iOS.

I was really hoping that Apple would finally adopt the top ten features the Jailbreak community has made for the iPhone over the years. You can Google those, but they are things in my opinion, that should just be baked into iOS standard already.

With this all new totally redone hardware and full screen, no bezels, the iPhone X looks AMAZING and great, but to have it still running the same iOS style and look, just seems so strange. It's like buying a new Ferrari but inside you have the interior of the 1980's car, super outdated and ugly look, and really bad by 2017's standards. That's iOS 10 IMO.

But try a Jailbreaked iPhone 7 Plus, with all the tweaks and stuff, it's night and day a way better phone to use. I guess I am shocked that with a brand new next generation phone design, Apple stuck with the same old iOS. Right now would have been the perfect time for a refresh, like they did back in iOS 7.

Because everybody has different preferences of what they are anticipating for this new iPhone. Boring to you, is not boring to others. Given this is going to be in all new redesign, it's the capabilities and features that enhance iOS to make the user experience better. It's just subjective to what others appreciate or not.

What are these top 10 features? I don't know anyone with a jailbroken iPhone so I have never seen anything other than what they give me from Apple. But realistic what am I missing?

Or like Chevy using a proven LS engine across the line for years and years making improvements here/there because it is proven an everyone loves it?

This thread is trying way too hard.

If you're one of those people who constantly require the new toy feeling your whole life then by all means go with a jailbroken phone, android device, or whatever else tickles your fancy for the next few months until you get bored and need to switch phones again.

For most iPhone users we simply need an OS that is secure, has a streamlined user interface, and is consistently updated. iOS fits that bill perfectly and the new hardware design will bring the iPhone X up to date or ahead of even the newest of flagship devices.

Augmented reality, the beginning of the saga.

Something to get excited about not only from an hardware perspective but also because it will eventually bring the UI change that you are after.

Anyway, we are talking about smartphones, essencial everyday tolls.

After a few weeks, they will always feel just like the one we had before, they are not pieces of art, they are not woman (or man), they are not a puppy...they are not unique.

In terms of hardware it’s probably the biggest change I think we’ve ever seen Apple do in one generation.

In terms of software, eh. I’m happy with iOS so I can’t really argue.

I’m ontrigues by the face ID. That has the potential to be excellent. But we will have to wait and see just how excellent. I’m still waiting for Siri not to suck.

Nothing wrong with the LS motors, there were plenty of doubters and hold overs from the old small block big block crowd though.

Not sure if I can even take serious someone named "Tig Bitties" or that says "Jailbreaked".

Regardless, it's your own personal opinion. Everyone has one. Welcome to life. Making a post about it in a pro-Apple environment is completely useless.

Lmao I knew this thread would have some traction lol. Every year  takes jailbreak tweaks and implements them crappily into ios, do most people care? Nope, do most people know that a lot of the updates to ios come every year from the jailbreak community? Nope. You're arguing a kind of lame point. You just like new toys and that's great but most people don't go to ios for the fun aspect. They just want something that works 80% of the time.

Curious how the iPhone 8 + 8 Plus will sell ? Everyone is super pumped for the new X, and understandably so.

Why would you want the new 8 Plus if you already have the 7 Plus. Where I could easily see a 7 Plus owner wanting the new X.

I think the rumors of the X bring super limited supply, out of stock almost immediately till next year, will force the 8 line to sell, if you want a new iPhone this year.

If you don't like the direction of Apple, stop buying Apple and get something else. It does no good to post a thread complaining about how other people like what you obviously don't.

An OS can't be boring as that is a human emotion. It isn't Apple's job to make sure you aren't bored. Take control of your own life and stop looking to Apple or Samsung to pacify you.

Tell me which Android phone has continuity? The same app ecosystem? The Apple ecosystem?

....

None. This is why us that are invested into Apple are really excited about the X. We finally get an up to date phone looks wise and we get to keep our wonderful ecosystem.

What's the alternative - Samsung Experience? Yikes.

No, the Pixel 2. ( Samsuck blows )

I am just shocked that with an all new groundbreaking iPhone redesign, they kept the same old iOS, which won't even allow you to move an app icon to the bottom of the screen LOL. Apple totally redid iOS 7 several years ago, and now with the new X, they should have done another redesign.

Honestly, I'm in the same boat as you. I was more interested in seeing what Apple announced at WWDC than what they announce on Tuesday. After WWDC was over, most of my hype for the iPhone 8 dissipated.

I thought 'Great. Cool new phone design (though I find the rumored design a little ugly but I digress), but still running the iOS that we all know.' Having finally tried Android after years of iOS, I'd be tempted to feel that I'd be taking a step backwards going back to iOS.

Full disclaimer: I currently own an Android device. It runs stock Android. I previously owned an iPhone 5 for four years. I know both OS's well.

Well, at least you have some taste in your Android OS decisions lol.

Scamsung is an abomination to Android, the Lagwiz UI just sh!ts all over stock Android. There's no need for that crap anymore. No reason for manufactures skins today, when stock Android is a work of art and so good now. The Pixel and Pixel XL phones should be the main Android phone for everyone.

And then if you like Apple, you have the choice of the X and 8.
