My biggest grumble is that it's impossible to search for UK in the Marketplace. (Google/ MR search doesn't look at words of 2 letters or less)

Either MR admins agree and promote a UK keyword that's longer than 2 letters or create a UK tag or have a UK section of the marketplace please.

As readers of the PRSI forum will know it's because Brits are afraid to venture outside what with all the binge drinking, hooliganism and every second person tooled up with a illegally imported eastern European firearm. It's safer to stay in your barricaded house with only the Interspazz for company.

Bet you haven't heard the Liverpool accent. The vocal equivalent of six month old bacon (** runs for the hills, too afraid to look back **)

Yea, the Scouse accent is quite weird. As a fan of both Red Dwarf and Coronation Street I hear it, or at least a close approximation from Craig Charles.

TEG

Youse two are on my S*** List™ ;)

(although as a London residing scouser with zero-little accent left, I agree if your slight was at the neo-Scouse accent of today... my parents era accent sounded completely different)

We're here, we're Brits, you can keep yer stupid grits... (apologies for the "rhyme" but really grits? What's the point?)

I came here originally to ask one question.... and ended up staying. No other reason than MR came top in a search around G3 iBooks back in '04. Are there any non-lame British Mac sites anyways?

:D

Nope, not much of the old "deh do doh don't dey doh?" from you. BUT you can occasionally hear it in your "but"s (as dodgy as this sentence sounds). I blame alcohol, it brings out true accents.

Like yeah, dude! </so cal>

That's because the US outlets tend to frown.. nay, scowl on journalistic integrity. Firefox has the BBC latest headlines built-in so there's that much of an explanation at least.

I don't know where you got the idea that the UK still has journalistic integrity.
They write what they want us to read.
Facts don't get in the way too much.

What's wrong with grits?

What are grits anyway?

You've got a point. The really annoying thing is that no one ever tells you which South London pub you can get your illegally imported eastern European firearm from which is really unreasonable of them.

hehehe you said "butts" ;)
True on the booze though

What's right with/the point of them? No decernable taste, and looks like wallpaper paste

Trust me, you're better off not knowing...

we brits are here cos the weathers crap outside basically..... na.

i grew up with macs and couldn't get used to windows so stayed with mac..
it may also be that most schools here in the late 80s/ early 90s had macs so we got taught with them.. well i did no sure about the rest..

it may also be that we brits have exceptionally good taste??? lol

Because we speak the same language (well, sort of..) and there is a rapidly growing Mac community over here now.

Yes, in the past 2 weeks I've had 4 women (not computer people) all say to me they plan to buy a MBA in the next few months.

Hmm, maybe I should move to a different part of the UK, the women round here seem too expensive for me :)

Snap! I was researching my planned upgrade to the G4 iBook when I first found the site. I stayed as the advice was good, the forum doesn't feel US based and the community discussions, nike+ challenges, etc. are great additions.

Can't really remember how I ended up here. But looking at the date I joined I was most likely at work and my delegates were boring me stupid so I was messing around on the internet. Even though there are quite a few UK members on here, all most everyone seems nice enough.

I think it's awesome that there are so many Brits on this board. I keep learning new phrases, such as "dog's bollocks". Heh!

The majority of us registered to point out that the forum's name is misspelt and ended up stopping.

(Almost) identical usernames and (almost) identical problems. I got so annoyed when I first started using this site, and like someone else mentioned, I actually wondered whether macrumours.com could be bought to mirror the site.

For the past couple of years, we've held a public unofficial MR event each summer — the MacRumors London picnic — held usually in mid-July in a London park. This event is partially responsible for a number of UK people to have met and to have carved out a little space for themselves here on MR... and yes, we'll be having another London picnic this year. Plans are underway as I write and will be advertised here within the next month or so. :)

Woooh, I didn't know about this! I've only been an active member more recently, so I didn't know about such things. Sounds like fun!

HAHA, so true. I got so annoyed the first couple of months after typing in macrumours.com that I ended up trying to buy the domain name just so I didn't keep misspelling it. Unfortunately some sod had already got it :(.

Don't you Brits have bookmarks? ;)

I also read and watch BBC news. It's my primary news source for stuff going on around the world.

UK, what state is that? ;)

Airstrip One, don'cha know?

q.v. Mr Stallone's fine films. In Rambo III, he fights on the side of the Taliban. In Rambo IV, he fights against them. Or some other terrorist group. Don't bother me with details, I'm British.

I'm British. I write out my http:// addresses with a quill pen and squid ink, just like Shakespeare did.

Old fashioned now. The new thing is 'giraffe's bollocks'. If you don't understand, then you just did.
