Haters will keep on hating no matter what. Some probably just feel jealous or bitter AT&T is losing its iPhone exclusivity and are stuck. AT&T fanboys vs Verizon fanboys do exist.

I personally don't give a rat's ass for this news or any of the major carriers. Only fanboys seem to care and want to argue about it when there are far more important things in life than having a 6+ month old phone move to a different carrier. But fanboys want to make this into something EPIC and pick fights with other people as to say their opinion is right and speaks for everyone. Like politicians, I think all carriers are crooks. I think iPhone 4 is a pointless upgrade without LTE. If I was on V, I would rather get the Droid Bionic.

Honestly i don't hate verizon however, I do hate the verizon fanboys like the ones at howard forums who wear the verizon logo like its a badge. I also dislike people who expect me to hate my AT&T service just because their service is having problems.

An example of the little twitter war that Verizon and AT&T had going on is an example of why i dislike Verizon fan boys. I pick my service based on Coverage, Customer Service, Price. AT&T and Previously has been good to me for the last 9-10 years.

If you wanna go to verizon then go but i'm staying with AT&T cause it works for me.

Now what I don't understand is this is supposed to be a forum for the mac products, so why is everyone bashing Verizon and making people like me feel like I have to defend it just because they are better for me.
Welcome to life as an iPhone user on AT&T. Except instead of it just being in this forum, it's every forum, tech article, or podcast for the last three and a half years. A handful of journalists in New York and San Francisco (I'm looking at you Molly Wood) have been harping on how awful and thrid-world-like the AT&T network is ever since the iPhone was introduced. Meanwhile, myself and many others have been using it with very few problems the entire time.

What you're seeing now is some of those people letting off a little steam. Just let them have their moment. Everything will settle down eventually, just like it always does. At least until the next imagined tragedy comes along.

I don't hate Verizon. I just don't need Verizon as ATT is serving me well.

Some people just can't grasp that there are millions of iPhone users doing just fine on ATT.

I'm actually glad that the iPhone is now on Verizon. Now instead of making a bunch redundant threads on how much ATT sucks for you and how it should suck for the rest of us too, people can just shut the hell up and switch to Verizon.

Reasons I'm not switching .....

I have good solid service
Lowest talk plan with a ton of rollover minutes
Simultaneous voice & data
Swappable Sim
Unlimited Data Plan (grandfathered in)
Most of my friends and family are on ATT which means no loss of minutes when talking to them

It would be stupid for me to switch.

For those who actually have had poor service with ATT, how can someone hate you for going to Verizon? I would too if I had bad service.

Amen. I'm thrilled Verizon is getting the iPhone simply because it means people be able to choose the network they prefer. More choice is always a good thing.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

CDMA networks providers like Verizon and Sprint don't offer you the flexibility to change devices easily. If I wanted to try a new device on ATT, I just walk in and get a new Sim. If you wanted to do this on a CDMA network, you could get hit with fees and them locking out your ESN making your device a paperweight. Also, trying out new devices like this forces you to buy the device outright. I would never buy a device outright on a CDMA network because selling it usually forces you to take a larger hit on return. That device only works on that network.

One other thing... This economy sucks. If something were to happen to your employment, and you couldn't pay your bill, you are screwed in Verizon. With ATT, you can just pop out the Sim card and sell the device to make up what you owe ATT. Verizon will lock the ESN so that the phone will never work on their network until the bill is paid.

I do like Verizons crazy red map with coverage everywhere, but no flexability, lower resale, longer upgrade policy and no Data with Voice kills it. Just get a prepaid mifi for those few trips you might take.

I dont like verizon becasue When I had them my bill was never the same every month ( while i was always under the min and data on my plan) they have too many extra fee's and there custumer support is not that great.

I have had none of these problem with AT&T and have not had any reception problems.

Ding ding!

Verizon will nickel and dime the dog dookey out of you, even if you don't have overages. They've NEVER been consistent in billing or customer support (well, I lie...they are consistently bad).

Verizon's customer service was always an issue for me. I never spoke to someone that spoke English as their first language. When I call AT&T I get a lovely American sounding lady on the other end quickly.

Love it!

Because believe it or not, some people have no problem with AT&T and have had problems with Verizon.

Oh, i agree. I have had no issue with AT&T. But unless you have bad experiences with Verizon, why the need to bash them? Honestly, I'd say cause people are feeling threatened.

The only reason I see to feel threatened is worrying friends and family will switch and it will cost you minutes now to call them.

But I'll put out if they switch cause they can get an iphone, you can always reduce your minute use calling them by using facetime since that is over wifi and doesn't cost you minutes ;). So maybe a little inconvenient and it will cost you a few more minutes but if you do it right shouldn't impact you too badly.

And honestly, this is good for all users of iphones.

More iphones to encourage developers and companies to make apps for the iphone.

Forcing AT&T to be more competitive, this is very good for AT&T users in a way.

Maybe better data connection for us AT&T users cause less stress on their networks. But this is a bad cause too few users causes AT&T to go away or get bought out by some one who may be worse than AT&T. But unless you worry that this will cause AT&T to go out of business, it's really more of a plus cause of less stressed networks.

Yeah, I suppose there is that too.

Honestly, I get sick of it as well cause I've had no issues myself. Plus add in you hear so much AT&T hate on this forum (honestly, I was surprised at the title cause in my experience, you see a lot more AT&T hate here) but every single poll where it is asked AT&T vs. Verizon, AT&T wins out. So it seems at least on this forum it's just the AT&T haters are really loud about it.

But you know, I have to say after thinking about it, I'm glad Verizon got it. Not cause it will stop the AT&T bashing (I don't think it will anyways in fact I wonder if it won't bring more of it as the AT&T haters go nyah nyah as they get their new Verizon phones) or that people will stop rumoring, but for reasons I illustrated above this post why this is a good thing for all iphone users.

"Why such hate for Verizon?"

Because they're contractually bound to an AT&T contract and have to put down other providers to make themselves feel better.

See, this is the kind of crap I get sick of having to read, this is a prime example of what me and another poster are talking about.

Is it that hard to believe some of us are happy with AT&T? I mean I've been a cingular/AT&T customer since 2002 which would think would say to you that maybe, just maybe, I'm happy with them! I probably wouldn't have tried the iphone if it wasn't on AT&T (it's not that I refuse to leave, it's just that other carriers have to give me more than what AT&T offers for the same price to encourage me to leave. I'm lazy and don't want to deal with changing carriers unless there is an advantage to it for me. And since I've no issues with AT&T, simply telling me better connectivity really says nothing to me. You can't prove it without me trying, and I've never had any issue with AT&T so why risk trying it when I'm happy with the connectivity I got?).

Maybe its the thousands of threads saying how great everything will be when the iPhone comes to Verizon.

Yes, but it's similar to a 5 year old's response to counter with "oh yeah, well my daddy can beat up your daddy!"

So what if some want AT&T and other's want Verizon? A lot of the reactions on both sides have been over the top and childish.

Change is scary, especially when that change means admitting your current provider is inadequate. Didn't you know that the only way you can feel good about the technology you own is to put down those who want something different? The reason is because you may discover that something different may also be something better, which then makes you feel extremely inadequate about what you have. It's only a stepping stone from there to admitting you made a mistake when you ditched your Blackberry Curve on Verizon to get that iPhone I was lusting over for years only to discover I could have had the iPhone on Verizon if I had just been a little more patient. Oh wait...

:)

I know that, but most people on here are putting down others because they want to switch. It should not be like that on here. Like I said earlier, Verizon is what works for ME, not everyone on here.

Wow, such hate on here. I see now why I left.

Yep, welcome to forums.selfrighteouslittlepeople.com. Same reason I left. And got rid of the iPad. The iPhone is next, it's all gotten so old.

I am having much better service with at&t. I had Verizon and nothing but issues with billing and service.
I'm just sick of people thinking Verizon is so much better and can do no wrong.

Maybe its the thousands of threads saying how great everything will be when the iPhone comes to Verizon.

No kidding!!!! We didn't need 10 new threads a day about it

Now we get Sprint iPhone threads..

Wait, let me get this straight. You had an iPad and got rid of it, and you have an iPhone but you're going to get rid of that too. All because of what some 10 year olds said on an internet forum? Sorry, but doesn't it make much more sense to just stop reading that forum instead? That's like saying you sold your Chevy because you saw someone else driving a Chevy with a bumper sticker bashing Ford. If your decisions on what products you use are so easily swayed by what other people who use those same products are like, then you need some serious help.

Maybe because we got tired of every other Verizon person coming here saying that at least their phones can make calls. I saw that all the time. Each carriers have their ******s. It isn't exclusive to just AT&T. Verizon people have done their fair share of hating on AT&T

I hate Verizon because they changed the button location just enough to screw up my case collection. :D Hey, just joking!

I don't hate Verizon. I was a customer for 8 years. But when they wouldn't "step up to the plate" when I had an issue with with Samsung Fascinate, I ported my number over to T-Mobile. Now, I have an unlocked iPhone 4 on TMO, and all's well.

Verizon is a great carrier, but I do think they have slipped a bit when it comes to customer service.
