It's been confirmed as 2GB from leaked photos of the logic board that show A8X
It's being speculated at best.
Why is there a lack of enthusiasm? IPad Air 2 could be a major upgrade if there's an 8mp camera, Touch ID, Apple pay, slimmer design, retina hd, 2gb ram, split screen multi tasking, gold colour, 32gb base line model. I skipped ipad 4 when I had ipad 3 but this time is different.
Ipad air was mostly all about the new design but inside this will be one of the best.
You can read the BGM packaging lol what do you want a personal announcement from Jony Ive?
This forum appears to be run by Samsung. Apple gives you everything you ask for, you say "but I want them to throw a parade! Samsung has three parades!!"
You can see a blurred/distorted character. You can't tell that if it's an "A" or an "8".
This doesn't have anything to do with Samsung. It has to do with facts. The fact is that you can't honestly see which character it is. Unless, of course, you can post a picture that has a clear indication of what it is. smh
I've waited two years for a new iPad, and was hoping this was going to be it. I'll wait to see what the iFixit tear down shows.
Can you use use google? There are detailed pics and several articles saying 2GB
Unless you're just here to complain until the chipworks tear down is done or anandtech reviews it.
Provide an accurate link then please. Only thing I've seen is the not so clear ELPIDA chip with the supposed "A" as the second character. If you have a link to something else, please post it. I'd love to know.
I agree, so far we don't know for sure. With the 6 Plus, some people were claiming 2gb simply because GSMarena said so ffs.

I have a retina mini, but it's pretty much the same situation...
At this point it seems like the upgrades will be incremental. Meanwhile, it's not like the current iPads fall down in any particular area in a big way. If you don't really need Touch ID (and if you do, why'd you buy an iPad without it?) everything you listed is incremental, in a pretty small way. Well, there's Apple Pay, though most would be much better off with the more portable iPhone 6 for that.
Anyway, if you want to upgrade and have the cash, you don't need to convince us.

Safari tab reloading is a software problem. 2GB might help a little. Or it might not help at all. Generally, changing hardware is a really inefficient and ineffective way to solve software problems.
What can the air 2 do that the air can't do?
Personally, I'll get a new Air once it has a bump in display ppi & true multi-tasking. Until then, all that horsepower is a waste for the 1-app-open-at-a-time OS...
I buy almost every Apple product the day it comes out if I can. For some reason there are a few that I don't mind waiting for. The iPad Air I have seems great and the iPad Air 2 seems to be a bit faster, thinner and have the fingerprint reader which I have enjoyed on my 5s and 6 Plus. I'll eventually get the iPad Air 2 but will probably wait to get it for Christmas. There just doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade. Not like last year.
