The iPhone 17 looks like a pretty small upgrade to me, the iPhone air looks to me like a bad deal because of the camera and battery... So why the 17 ??? Many of us have the iPhone 14 Pro, if you don't really care about AI (and I don't understand why you would), then I don't feel it's worth to upgrade. There is no revolution here...

i think you right.

for a great number of iPhone users, there seems to be no compelling reason (at least known as of this date) to upgrade.
apple insider has a well written article just today on this general topic (when compared with an iPhone 16).

Because I wanted to give Android a chance again and was curious about the Pixel.... so that is the simple answer why I need an iPhone again. lol

there are many in this forum who say this about the last 13 generations starting with the S cycles.
Small changes add up over the years and you just upgrade when your 14 doesn’t work anymore in a couple of years.
So people with a X or 11 might be happy to buy a 17 and not a year old 16.

Well, at least there will be promotion across the board (hopefully) which will make old non-pros look antiquated.

Also there are physical differences - new air, new design on Pros, etc. That didn't quite happen with 15 and 16 series, which look similar to 14 models.

The question mark really is the Air, as I'm sure it will be the star of Apple's event. If people find it appealing and enjoy it, then that's enough reason to upgrade. Not everything is tech specs or hypothetical battery life. At least to the general population.
