Go forth and be happy. If it's not with Apple, who cares.

Also, Steve Jobs in his own words:

Apple has a history of not listening to customers and making great products. Apple should for sure not listen to internet experts that excel at nothing other than obesity, and spewing negativity on internet forums.

You can either invent something better, or buy something else. If you choose to whine and do nothing, that's on you.

And Steve Jobs' words you believe without fail, like when he says "it's magic," right? You know, there's a reason folks like you give rise to the term 'iSheep'. The Apple vs Samsung trial is revealing things Apple never wanted nor wants the consumer to know. That's the whole point; Apple says they intentionally don't pay attention to consumers and want to dictate things for them, and to some extent that's true, but it's now known that they actually do pay attention. Maybe it's time we stop pretending we don't matter.

According to you, anyone who wants to criticize can only do so by inventing something better? Care to eat your own words? When are we going to see you invent a better alternative to Android, which you so heavily criticize. Do you go and make a better film when you dislike something you see at a theater? And where were you for MMS, or Copy and Paste? You honestly think the consumer's demand for these features, and the critic's criticism for the lack of these features had zero to do with Apple adding them? If so, iSheep indeed.

My point is, Apple has shortcomings, and we should be honest in discussing them, instead of coping out and pretending if Apple doesn't offer certain things, we don't need it; or if you don't like Apple, don't get Apple products (sage wisdom, thanks). Is it that difficult, though, to think people want Apple to provide a better iPhone so they can get it again? Difficult to fathom, I suppose, if your world is as black and white as "don't like it, don't buy it."

You don't realize, I criticize -- and hope that others criticize -- so that Apple will improve. It's the very same reason why in the "Alternative OS" subforum, I posted about the shortcomings of Jelly Bean. It's called intellectual honesty, and believe it or not, it's better for all, including fellow Apple fans.

True Apple has a history of not listening to customers and making great products, but that was when Jobs was in charge. The last time they didn't have Jobs (when they kicked him out in '85) they nearly went bankrupt.

True Apple has a history of not listening to customers

Actually not that true.

From Cult of Mac, not exactly the best article, but I figured an Apple website has more relevance here:

"4. Apple listens to its customers
Another part of the Apple mythology is that Apple doesn’t get product cues from customers and users. Apple says they design products for themselves because the users don’t really know what they want.

However, the trial has revealed the existence of extensive surveying of customers by Apple. Samsung wants the data made public.

Survey questions reportedly aim to find out why Apple customers choose iPhone instead of competing phones, for example, and specifically how much they like or dislike specific features of the iPhone.

Apple strongly opposes the revelation of the survey data. The judge sided with Samsung but granted Apple time to appeal."

I gave you the option of making something better or buying something that makes you happy.

I chose the latter and dumped android. After, I saw no need to linger on my old android forum haunts like an un-flushable turd, stinking up the place with bad vibes.

What's your excuse, other than the grand delusions that you are doing all iOS users a great favor by righting Apple's horrid wrongs against the human race.

The difference is the Android community generally doesn't need old-Android users to give them a reality check. They tend to be more honest and forthcoming about the shortcomings of Android, plenty of which I point out myself. You just don't get this sort of intellectual honesty as often with iOS devotees.

And as an Apple fan myself (gasp!) I'm simply saying this is a farce that's not going to pay off, especially now when we know Apple actually pays close attention to consumers (you keep ignoring this point). Knowing this, it makes it all the more important that we, the bloggers, and the journalists all start getting realistic about the iPhone. The days of "it just works" needs to stop, yet we still here it uttered.

There's no "agenda" in me sticking around the forums nor are there any delusions of grandeur in my postings. This isn't something that's going to change overnight, but it's also something we shouldn't ignore. I own a slew of Apple products and owned the 4 and 4S, and would love to be an iPhone owner again should Apple release something worthy. I'm just as excited as the next member to see what they unveil in September. Don't be sour because other Apple fans want a better iPhone and are willing to talk honestly about it.

I can't believe my RELATIVELY SMALL SIZED POCKETS, for a fairly small sized person (5" 7" and thin) is not representative or smaller of 95% of pockets out there. :) I can honestly say in every pants pocket I use (included tighter jeans) the SGS3 feels much lighter and unnoticeable than the iPhone 4S and in NO case does it take more than about 1/3 of my pocket volume, and even that is conservative. And I never even feel like it going to break. If fact, I had to put a case on it because it felt so light and thin that sometimes I had to feel around in my pocket to make sure it was there. That's the truth.

Not to keep this gentle debate going, but you are not the entire representation of all owners of the S3. I am not sure which pocket you are talking about but I know for myself, if I put it in my front pocket and sit down, it will bend (unless the pockets are damn deep and reach down to the top of my thigh, which in female jeans/pants they generally don't. Perhaps girly pockets are shorter in design than mens. I also wouldn't put it in my rear pocket which it does fit unless I know I am just walking and won't be sitting. If I were to put it in the front pocket, it would likely either bend from stress at the hip/thigh joint OR try to push out of the top part of the pocket.

That post is pretty low and crude, even for you Tech... kinda disappointed really.

<Getting back to the thread's topic *cough* *cough*>

To me the issue is readability. I don't care what the dimensions of the screen are, or what its resolution is if I am straining to read text. i think that is why so many seem negative about a taller iPhone - most of us use the iPhone in Portrait mode and want enough screen room to increase the text size.

So far I see nothing in any alternative to iOS that appeals to me, other than some of the non-iOS phones have sufficiently large screens that reading is comfortable. To me, the iPhone would be perfect for my needs if they simply increased the screen size, and its frustrating that Apple appear to be focusing on 16:9 screen ratio that is based on video standards rather than text readability.

I guess I can't speak for the females. ;) Let's just say my opinion is representative of 49% of the world population then. :D
