People prefer having the option of data during a call so they RECEIVE calls while USING DATA. Everybody saying it's stupid need to open your mind a little.... First iPhone had the same thing - either data or voice. If you were using the browser or downloading emails, calls when straight to voicemail. Hope this clears things up.

Also, those complaining about iPhone's lack of multitasking, look again. All of Apple's native apps have it. What happens when you're on a call and you press the home button? There's your home screen. You can open any app from there (unless you're on a 1st gen, then Safari's not going to do you much good). Next, send an email and close Mail and open Safari. Hear that? The mail sending sound? Yeah. Cuz mail continued to work in the background til it had finished it's task. Same with SMS. And of course everybody knows about the iPod.

Apple knows what they're doing. Maybe they're waiting for developers to prove that they can write code lightweight enough to not bog down the OS when it's running in the back.

Open up Pandora to listen to some streaming music and then go try to type out an email or surf the web in Safari...oh, wait.

Native apps only that is the problem not true multitasking. Try listening to Pandora and browse the web...not going to happen. It's funny how many iPhone lovers seem to find the iPhone inabilities as not a big thing but boy do they sure love it once they have it. The Pre and the iPhone are to GREAT devices each with its features. Unless you've used the Pre for more then a few minutes it's difficult to compare. I am using the Pre right now and I just sold my iPhone 3G waiting for the 3Gs but now i'm not so sure about the switch back.
