Personally, I find the locking/unlocking too fast on my 6S. Sounds weird, but I use it as a watch (I don't wear a watch) and when checking the time, I am always hitting the button out of habit with my thumb and it immediately unlocks. I'm getting better about using the index finger to avoid this but it is a little too fast.

And you will miss this on the 9.7" iPad Pro !

I'd be amazed if anyone's decision to buy an ipad pro is affected by the lack of 2nd gen touch I'D.

I really don't understand this being a factor in the buying criteria for such an expensive device?
If it is, what on earth else is on such a persons criteria for purchasing a new iPad? The size of the apple logo on the back?

I'm not saying it wouldn't be better (not used 2nd gen yet myself) but how could it possibly be a serious factor in someone purchasing decision?

I know, right? To me it's like saying, "I'm not going to buy this car because the power windows don't retract quite as fast as that other car.

Until I saw this tread just now, I hadn't even realised that my iPad Pro 9.7" didn't have the latest Touch ID.

Now that i know this, it'll drive me crazy - I may have to return it....

For some of us, the first gen sensor just doesn't work. So in your analogy, the windows don't go down at all.

I bought he 9.7 Pro and like it. But I'll upgrade if the next one has the 2nd Gen sensor. I didn't think Touch ID was a big deal until I got the 6s, and now I use it on the phone all the time.

Which means you are saying second generation Touch ID is faster than the first? Some of the guys said here it doesn't make a tiny bit of difference to them in terms of speed with which the Touch ID worked.

Wouldn't you like your device to unlock a fraction of seconds faster and I don't know whatever other privileges that come with he second generation Touch ID over the first ?

my guess is inventory. when all your devices use similar chips/cameras/everything, you have to be cognizant of producing unnecessary supply constraints. I don't think anybody is holding off buying an ipp becuase of touchid.
