Trivial - of little value or importance

I know that might be a little unfair. It is important to improve, but because it is just speed bumps with some extras, they get them into the line to resellers very quickly. This won't be some pre-announcement as we have seen with a few Apple products.

Most 17" 1280x1024 LCDs ARE 5:4 and have square pixels. I don't know where you got the idea that they were 4:3 or if you just assumed they were, but the Dell 1704FPT is definitely 5:4 and manufacturers would have to be total idiots to make a screen with rectangular pixels.
Alex, you mis-read my post. I did say that a 1280x1024 screen either had rectangular pixels or were 5:4. I go on to say that if you ever looked at a 1280x1024 LCD, you'd notice that it's an odd shape (meaning it's more square than normal).

When you choose 1280x1024 on a CRT monitor, which are 4:3, you'd get rectangular pixels. Not the same as an LCD with rectangular pixels, but you get the picture.

BTW, most HDTV plasmas have rectangular pixels. Sure, it's not a computer screen, but it's a screen with rectangular pixels.
