The Game 161

Hopefully we get some confirmation about it...
The App Drawer and the separate home screens were the thing I hated most about Android back before my work started issuing iPhones instead of Android. (I had an HTC One M7.) I hated having two places to keep track of apps, one of which I couldn't manage.Damn I hope they bring App Library though. It’s not quite what I was hoping like Android’s App Drawer but it’s a start.
I don't get why you're telling fairy tales? I am 100% sure, you can swipe to the right on the home screen to show widgets in portrait orientation. You know, you can do this also today?

Pro tip: Swipe to the right on your home screen. Even works today on iOS 13. 👍
Rene Ritchie, who often reports directly from APple, suggests that lack of widgets is by design.

Wish they’d move the camera/faceid to the pencil edge.
So does this mean that I can finally place my icons anywhere on the screen that I want to?
Love the logic. Small screen - large widgets, large screen - no widgets
Exactly. Ram used and why do I need clutter on my screen? I dont need to see the weather 24/7 or my notes or stocks.. Stupid and a feature I hope I can turn off and not use.
You can do calculations in the Search Bar. Try typing something like 5*5-5Can we just please get a built in calculator please? Please?
Or just download one? Hardly the end of the world. Can we just please get a built in calculator please? Please?
Ugh... yes. Even my Apple Watch has a Calculator. I don't understand why the iPad can't get one. I just want to be able to access a calculator quickly from the command center shortcuts...Can we just please get a built in calculator please? Please?
This is beyond disappointing and one of my biggest gripes with iOS. Still, thanks for checking and replying. No, the auto-arrange of icons is, sadly, still present. I would love to be allowed to place icons and widgets anywhere I wanted on my screen.
Feature that done nothing on the MacOS and people stopped using and now another useless feature I wont use. I dont want or need clutter on my screen. Plus Widgets used to take up more Ram usage on the MacOS so im guessing they will do the same in iOS. Still I hope its an option and not forced to use them.

To be honest, I’m not sure how much this comment makes sense.I feel sorry for the writer using that iPad. Too many writing apps to be productive. (Yes I understand they are pandering to the journalists by having all of the popular writing apps on the iPad)
This is correct. Because 85% of the news from WWDC were features on Android phones... And I will happily admit that. I left Apple a few years ago due to their stagnation and just returned recently... and man am I happy that they are adding a lot of these features because they are features I miss across the Android ecosystem. Can't wait to have them on my Apple devices.Fortunately for the rest of us, Apple don't design just for you. Widgets have been a much requested feature on iOS.
Which part? I can clarify if you do.To be honest, I’m not sure how much this comment makes sense.
This does make sense. When you are on your iPad, you are looking at it for longer periods of time. It's not something you pull out of your pocket and take a quick peek at. So having it only on the home screen in the today view makes sense.
I still mourn the loss of true widgets in MacOS. Sidebar is a terrible replacement. That said if we are getting iOS widgets limiting them to ONLY the today column, which ONLY shows up in landscape is dumb.
Agree. Solid UI for both portrait and landscape is a big iPad plus. Hoping Apple quickly rethinks this.I don’t like how Apple is half-assing portrait orientation on the iPad. “More icons” looks ridiculous when the iPad is in portrait mode. Might as well just have a big bezel at the top and bottom. I was excited about the widgets, but not if they don’t work like on the iPhone...
