But you said good exclusives, not forgettable titles like Heavenly Sword, Lair, Uncharted and friends.

Funny. That's exactly how I feel about Smash, Mario Kart Wii, Twilight Princess, and Excite Truck - forgettable titles all. I'd rather play Strikers Charged or Wii Sports than pretty much any other title on the Wii.

It always comes down to which games you like to play. And we all have our opinions, yes?:)

Yep :)

But even I love a bit of the Excite Truck and Strikers and I still call them forgettable. Not the others mind ;)

Did someone say Excitebike?

If possible, I would say get a Wii and a PS3. That's what I have. Actually, I wish the two systems could be merged together. The Wii has awesome controls and the PS3 has amazing graphics. First Person Shooters are best on the Wii (yes, even better than PC's), but the graphics aren't great. And Wii has super fun games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem, Mario Galaxy, Zack & Wiki, etc., etc....many great upcoming games, the best retro downloadable games (in the Virtual Console) and a nice selection of new downloadable games (and upcoming) on WiiWare.

The Wii is the most "fun" system. The PS3 is the most "cool" system with the best graphics and a great online experience...plus, the pure bliss of Blu-ray movies. Tough call on what you should get. If you truly can only get one, I would slightly be more inclined toward the Wii. But a PS3 would still be a wonderful purchase.

The Wii really needs more FPSs. Prime 3 pretty much mastered the Wii FPS control scheme. Hasn't been much since that. Least the conduit is coming.

You hit the nail right on the head....All of these titles were forgotten a month in their prime for me...Oh and don't leave out Metroid Prime: Corruption(and I'm a big fan but not this one) on that forgettable list.

OP I think you should think about the games you're interested in and then make your purchase. We could argue this for ages because in the end everyone on the board have their own peference......you just got to look for yours.

Bless

I have both and I only use the PS3, and besides when Little Big Planet comes out it will make every other console pale in comparison (bad pun because the other consoles are white).

I have a PS3 and to be honest I don't play it very much now, My little brother however does and he play's every game we have from Euro 2008 to GTA IV (Football to Violence), I have been playing on my mates Wii and I love it I can play golf (Tiger Woods) while it rains out side, NFL 08 is well hard to start with but gets better and now the Wii Fit (Which is sold out everywhere, I will be getting 2 Wii Fit's next week to sell BTW) is amazing I have now taken up exercising again (I'm lazy) and I must say I feel great after I use it.

I say get the Wii. Also there is a rumour that the Wii will be dropped in price in the next month or two.

... the Wii Fit ... is amazing I have now taken up exercising again (I'm lazy) and I must say I feel great after I use it.

The Wii Fit really is amazing, particularly because of the effect it is having on regular folks who are getting at least some exercise in place of none. Honestly, I'd be on that thing every day trying to jack my numbers if I wasn't spending for a gym membership as well.

all i have to say is if ur looking for good online gaming and challenging ones or good ones and higg def go for the ps3, otherwise if ur just looking to play around and have fun go for the wii. (not saying the ps3 isnt fun it is alot i own one myself and soon a wii ppossibly).

After I beat a few of the forgettable titles mentioned above, as well as super paper mario and Okami my Wii has been doing nothing except collecting dust. It does that well though :p

It still bugs me that they released a new accesory to make the wiimote more 1:1, it should have been that way from the beginning. That accessory says to me that Nintendo is admiting their first run at the wiimote was flawed, unfortunatly us as consumers have to pay for their mistake.

My PS3 sees daily game play (online and single player), lots of BD movies, and a few DL video rentals. As far as bang for my buck the PS3 has paid back in dividends while the Wii tends to just sit there waiting for the next title that might make me play it again.

YK

This may come across as a bit fanboi, but I don't think that's an accurate conclusion. None of the games that Nintendo or 3rd parties released were produced for 1:1 use of the Wiimote. None of them, given their mechanics, would even necessarily benefit from 1:1.

The addition to the Wiimote is an upgrade that is a) optional and b) used only in specific games, some of which will include the hardware update.

To me, you're comparing an N64 controller to an NES controller. The N64 games needed more buttons, so their controllers have them. Future Wii games may take advantage of 1:1, so the controller's addition will provide it. That's not a perfect analogy either, but it's how I see it.

Just my two cents. :)

Think about what you are saying... what comes first? The hardware or the software?, of course the hardware and then developers make their games based on that, given the Wii's inability to do 1:1 then it's obvious none of the games released for it are going to be produced for 1:1 or with 1:1 even in mind.

Just a thought, the sequence of events in your logic is all messed up :p

I think the addition to the Wiimote is good in the sense that at least now the Wii's controls are a lot more precise, I'm not so sure about it being able to do 1:1 but at least it's a possibility now. The bad thing is Nintendo not implementing it from the get-go and now charging for it as a separate accesory, this will only scare developers away from creating MotionPlus games because not everyone will have a motionplus add-on (bundling it would also be expensive and forcing consumers to buy would be a ****). Nintendo needs to include the thing with new Wiimotes and Wiis.

That was the point I was trying to make. :) I was responding to e²Studios in an attempt to say just that... 1:1 via a Wiimote addition isn't an overdue add-on fixing a flawed control, it's an upgrade, creating new opportunities for functionality that will have no affect on previous games but will open up more opportunities for future ones.

The flawed logic, IMO, is stating that it should have been present from the beginning. Why? I get the frustration that it will cost money, but Nintendo has already stated it will be packaged with their games and we have no idea how much it will actually cost.

e²Studios probably meant to say that 1:1 should have been available from the beginning so developers could take advantage of it.

Releasing MotionPlus now... I'm not sure if many developers will get on board.

You say games don't need 1:1 controls, well they don't really need the wiimote in the first place either but having a different control scheme with all-new possibilities opens up a lot of new creative ideas for games, having 1:1 from the beginning would certainly have had a positive impact on most (if not all) games

And 1:1 was something that everyone thought the Wii had, I mean, that's the whole point, being able to play your games doing actual movements, not replacing punching buttons with waggling remote controls.

Way to get MotionPlus controls in every Wii home - Bundle it with a new Wii Sports game and sell it cheap (Wiiplay price). Isn't there a large attach ratio of Wii Sports to Wii consoles in Japan (where it's not bundled with the console)?

Build MotionPlus into new Wii controllers.

It's also something that couldn't have been implemented 2 years ago. Look at the size of MotionPlus now! It's ruddy massive! Imagine the size of it 2 years back, you'd never get that into a comfortably sized controller.
But hopefully they do shrink it down before launch. I also await Ben Hecks version to upgrade my old controls :D

I don't disagree that it would have been interesting had it been present from the beginning, but this argument is akin to saying that Nintendo's NES system should have had a controller with more buttons because they could have done more. It's not some afterthought 8th button, it's basically a new controller given the upgrade.

And 1:1 was something that everyone thought the Wii had, I mean, that's the whole point, being able to play your games doing actual movements, not replacing punching buttons with waggling remote controls.

Some people thought the "teleport" application for the iPhone would work in conjunction with the GPS and Google aspects to teleport you all over the world. Just because people don't understand technology before buying it doesn't make it a bad product because their expectations were wrong. ;)

What would be the alternative? Wait for the next Nintendo console for them to have a true 1:1 controller? Once games trully started being developed for the Wii, and developers tried for 1:1 control, Nintendo realized that the original design was not accurate enough for true 1:1 (it was very close..look at the bat in baseball on Wii Sports). So, instead of going "ah well" they are doing something about it. We should be glad. Sure, it's something that should have been there from the start..but maybe they thought it was.

Do you expect them to so that for free? The N64 expansion pack wasn't free either but made supported games look better. Just like the expansion pack, you don't have to buy MotionPlus. I'm sure most games will support both it and the regular Wii Remote.

This is true, and you provide a good point with the N64 expansion pack. The frustrating thing about that is it wasn't available when originally released.

Which other company does that and screws the early adopters?....
OOH OOH PICK ME, PICK ME, I KNOW THE ANSWER!!! Apple does!

This is IMHO a technique used by developers and companies to have the cheapest initial product then abuse the uniqueness of their product to increase sales.

Just my 2c

I know what you mean. I was so annoyed when I bought my SDTV in 1997 only to find it wasn't capable of HD resolutions. Or that my PS2 didn't come with a Blue Ray drive.

I know you guys love your Wiis, I don't have one but I've played it a lot and I think it's a great console.

But please, find better arguments, some of the analogies and points are not really related or even logical.

Don't mean to flame, I'm just trying to incentive a more intelligent, objective discussion.

Everybody here should just sell their consoles and come back to PC gaming. :)

<]=)

Why, so you can go back to upgrading hardware to the latest and greatest every 6-12 months (and thats being conservative with time, its usually much shorter). With a console you are usually safe hardware wise for 6 years.

No thanks, I'll take upgrading every 6 years to play the latest and greatest games, not every 6 months.
