It's still in the 14 day return policy though?

Yes right now it's still within the 14 day period it has been 3 days. She originally got it for me as a gift but I had bought one online already on the 12th. She lives in FL and I live in NYC so she was going to give me to me when she comes here.

I live in Florida, bought an iPhone 5S, did not want it for some issues, sent it back within the return period, and got a refund via return to my Visa card. Later bought another iPhone.

This OP is telling us a story that is not right, and we don't know the whole story only what he is giving. Does not make sense.

I Said the apple store won't give her back the original form of payment, which was cash but they wanted to give her a store gift card instead...

It doesn't make sense but at the same time I know the people who work at the store are not perfect. I've ran into some odd issues myself over the years with computer and phones and always had it resolved.

Yes and that's what the store has a manager for. If she paid in cash they can either refund in cash or the store will mail out a refund check. It's not typical for a store to refund a customer with gift cards. If a gift card was used in the first place the store would offer an in-store credit.

If they can't give her cash they would mail her out a check. They don't give gift cards and furthermore did she bother to go to a manager?

Is she asking for the return to be placed on a credit card other that the one she originally used?

Just notice:

For returns to an Apple Retail Store for cash, cash equivalent, and check transactions over $250, Apple will mail a refund check to you within 10 business days

Show them that, they can't go against their own policies - explain to them that you bought this knowing that if you wanted to you could get a refund to your original payment method.

Ridiculous that you're in this situation - maybe try a different store if you can.

The manager wasn't there at that time and she had already drove 1hr to get to the apple store and she didn't have much time to wait for manager to come back..but she said one of the store employee wanted to give her just a store gift card, and that employee never mention a refund in the form of a check.

Oh Really? Hmm. Every retail store has to have a manager on duty at any given time, especially a big company like Apple. Okay, good luck to you. ;)

No, she paid cash (~$1000), and she thought if she return it she gets back the money in cash... But the store employee said apple store gift card only... And the employee didn't mention the refund back as a check..

The one she went to in FL is a small apple store within a shopping mall.

I purchase and received mine on the 24th of September and online it says return by October 13th. That's more that 14 days. Called and asked and they said they will take it back as a courtesy, yellow screen here, half cool screen. #

Will Apple allow returns past 14days?

From Apple website:

For any other undamaged product, simply return it with the original receipt (or gift receipt) and original packaging within 14 days of the date you receive the product. If the item is returned within this timeframe, we’ll exchange it or offer a refund based upon the original payment method. For returns to an Apple Retail Store for cash, cash equivalent, and check transactions over $750, Apple will mail a refund check to you within 10 business days. Please note the following:

- Products can be returned only in the country in which they were originally purchased.

- The following products are not eligible for return: electronic software downloads, subscriptions to the Software-Up-To-Date program, Apple Gift Cards, and any Apple Developer Connection products.

- In the case of items returned with a gift receipt, Apple will offer you an Apple Gift Card equal to the purchase price of the gift, including tax and any other fees.

- Opened software cannot be returned if it contained a seal with the software license on the outside of the package and you could read the software license before opening its packaging. As an exception, you may return Apple-branded software if you do not agree to the licensing terms; however, you may not retain or otherwise use any copies of returned software. It’s not legal… and it’s not nice.

- Apple provides security features to enable you to protect your product in case of loss or theft. If these features have been activated and cannot be disabled by the person in possession of the phone, Apple may refuse the return or exchange.

Based on the above either she is trying to return it using a gift receipt, or they will send her a check for the refund in because it was over $750.

That employee probably didn't even know mailing a check was an option. It's not something the employees were trained on when I used to work there. You only ever learned about mailing a check if a situation like yours popped up and if the customer requested to speak to a manager - or if you felt comfortable poking around the menu options on the register/EasyPay.

I bought a MacBook, went past the 14 days, explained, said I completely understand the policy but I bought the wrong spec, I was a few days late. The guy I spoke to was excellent, very friendly, said we're not that sort of company to refuse and leave you with a very expensive product you're not happy, let me just get my manager. Manager just authorised it, by which time the spec I wanted had arrived from the stockroom, scanned both items, refund and purchase, paid a little extra for the spec I wanted and all done. So DEFINITELY try. Good luck.

people are dying to get an iphone 6/6 plus, put it on ebay and she will get much more than what she had pay for it.

This sounds like the family member person doesn't have a receipt and is trying to take it in. That is the ONLY time I ever get offered gift cards for anything - if I'm taking something back but don't have a receipt.

Is this the same store she bought it from originally?

She bought it from the retail store. But I told her to return the one she got so I can use that money to pay the one that I bought online. But the apple store she went to in FL won't give her back the money in the original form of payment but wants to give her a store gift card instead... The iphone is still brand new and never taken out of the box ( the clear wrapping plastic is still intact on the iphone box).

They are required to give her a full refund on the original form of payment, period.

My apple store returned my two online iPhone 6 orders in store

Is it 14 days from date delivered?

Something isn't adding up here. Most stores (not just Apple) only offer the gift cards if you don't bring in a receipt. Apple stores are about as organized as stores get so I don't think an employee would refuse to give your money back in the form of original payment when its clearly in the return period. You should just call the store back and tell them your story before you make the hour drive back to get your refund (or request for it to come in the mail). BTW, this is part of the reason I wouldn't pay for an expensive product in cash.

This is true. And I do not think this has been established yet. Does she have a receipt? Whenever I buy something at an Apple Store, they always give me a paper and digital copy.

Is this the same store she bought it from originally?

I would hope that this would not matter.
