Both devices - home hub and television set are dumb ideas.

Tim Apple creativity.

Look if apple does venture into the TV world by releasing their own TV then one can only hope, wish, pray that they make it similar to how Samsung did with “the wall” modulated micro led panels that attach to create a massive theater wall.

Anything less would be a disgusting waste of tech, time and money. In a time where folks want a home theater experience the TV experience needs to continue to grow in size to attain that wall size potential.

Bring the wall or shut it down!

I don’t really understand the point of the home hub. I carry an iPhone in my pocket that can do everything this hub could do. I can also give voice commands to Siri on my homepods to manage homekit devices. This is another product in search of a problem to solve. An Apple television… the apple TV is the best streaming device, and they have always made nice monitors for computers… I bet they could put together a compelling high end television. It would have to be high end, as too many are racing to the bottom of the market and Apple has never been keen to do that.

An Apple TV would have no buttons and require a remote needing you to click through four menus to change channel. Apple are clueless about user interfaces.

Apple doesn't make anything.
Others make things for them.
Who would manufacture the Apple TV?
How would Apple's TV functionally differentiate itself from other premium sets other than by price and the Apple name? Would Samsung, et al, make an Apple designed TV so that Apple could slap a $1000 Apple label on it to compete with their TVs?

While it may never happen, I can see one case for it... with an Apple TV maybe my Mac Mini could display HDR/DolbyVision properly with out looking somewhat washed out or horrid colors since it seems to want 12bit display only for dolby according to betterdisplay on my TV. Oh and proper scaling like windows/linux would be nice. heh

Not gonna happen. Makes no business sense for them.

Why would they? A state if the art OLED 65 can be had right now for around $1500, maybe even a bit less - an ASD can be had for that price, not mentioning the XDR.
There is little margin in that business and competition is fierce, hence the low prices.
While some folks would buy it, you’re only going to make money thru volume…
So I call this rumor off, YMMV

So what? They can easily sell it for $3,000-5,000 at a hefty 60% margin. Why? Is not about panel, it's about a brand, elegant design, convenience, ease of use and ecosystem:
  • Apple brand
  • Futuristic design
  • 8K LG OLED panel
  • Premium Atmos speakers
  • Build-in Apple Smart Home hub
  • Free AppleTV / Apple Music subscription
  • Build-in MacOS acting as iMac jumbo. Use iPhone as air mouse
  • Webcam for TikTokers and business conference
  • App Store with millions of apps
  • iPhone is instant remote out of the box
  • Apple Watch is instant remote out of the box
  • Apple AirPlay (connect your MacBook instantly)
60% margin easily

I paid $25,000 + tax for this amazing 8K LG 88 inch TV. But Apple can do even better and at a lower price:

Nobody has mentioned the disgusting degree of spying and invasive ads modern TV makers have turned to. I think that’s the number one reason for Apple to enter the market, and the main reason I would consider getting an Apple one for my next TV.

Did anyone mention we really know nothing? And we didn't back in 2011.

I'd take a really big ipad/TV that is waterproof for my shower. I was at a fancy hotel last year that had one in the shower with a remote control. Crazy!

If you don't give your TV access to your WiFi you don't have to worry about it. Just hook up your Apple TV to it.
